You're the man! I greatly appreciate you calling out the nut and bolt sizes! Helps me to get organized before I start!

Nice video. I'm in the middle of replacing the rear struts on my '07 Expedition (175K miles, original struts and ball joints). Had so much trouble removing the lower strut bolts in the rear, I wasn't sure I wanted to crawl under to go after the bolts on the inside end of the arm. 10 lb sledge wouldn't move the shock bolt (with no vertical load of course), ended up using an air hammer and just let it run on the end of the shock bolt for ~3 minutes, then drove the bolt out with a 3 lb soft iron hammer. Just an FYI: The lower shock bolt on the 2007 is 350 ft-lbs on all four struts. Inside end one is 258 ft lbs, per the manual. There are several ford expedition blog where they've posted these. Verified this one in the manual since it is so high. Though somebody might be having some fun with numbers.

That worked really well. Put Rancho 9000's on, so I had to watch out for the adjuster knob so it didn't get sheared off as it passed through the suspension arm. Also had to put a small block under the strut on the jack to get it up high enough.

Did mine on the weekend, works fine. The 30mm nur was a Little Bit Hard to loose, but freeze spray helped. I didnt take the caliber of, there is plenty of room to take the strut out. You can swing the arm to take the strut out...

This truly did help me out, if you have someone to help you are able to pass them the strut without removing the brake caliper

Great Video!!! My local shop wants $900 to replace rear struts.

Mine wanted $1200 for the rears and $1600 for the fronts (not including 8.25% sales tax for Houston). Needless to say, I'll be doing the job myself and saving a ton of money thanks to videos like this.

I wish I would have seen this video 5 hours ago. I even looked at that bolt about halfway through thinking "I bet you could just take that big one out and save the trouble."

Man that worked like a charm. Definitely saved me some hours.

Its good video.I like it only have question if the new struts have some direction left right or plastic out in is it matters?
@jimpark46004 жыл бұрын
It doesn’t matter which side you use the struts on they are universal and fit both sides there is no left or right they are identical.

just wondering if you have this car more then a year later and has this 1 a auto strut held up good or seaming like its warn out already?
@jimpark46005 жыл бұрын
Mike Grauer still have the car and the struts are still good to go. One of the OEM struts gave out and was bouncing like a basketball when you hit a bump. I would still recommend these struts for the price and quality.
@bass_stache5 жыл бұрын
For the ones That have already changed their struts out to these particular struts any feedback on how they’re handling? Is it worth the price?

So you don’t have to take off tire and brake stuff ? Just remove control arm and good to go ?
@jimpark46006 жыл бұрын
Beau Kent i believe you will have to take off the tire and the brake caliper. It made it easier to complete the job.
