Hello, Thanks so much for providing this information as it was quite helpful in me fixing my 2008 Taurus SEL. Here is some important information to share with your viewers: Please be aware that there are 3 different units like this on a 2008 Taurus (and other similar Ford cars). This one you replaced is Motorcraft part # YH-1779 and is located as you indicated right above the gas pedal. There is, as you indicated an identical motor unit located behind the glove box door. The nearly identical but different 3rd unit is located about 5 inches above the one you just replaced. It is also located above the gas pedal but a bit higher up. This similar but different unit is Motorcraft part # YH-1769). It is not the same as this item YH-1779 you just replaced in your video so be careful which one you order as it needs to be the correct part for the repair you are making on your car folks. Jerry, you could be right about what you said. I could not find the 3rd one, but I only had a clicking from that particular one. Yes, your info does help. Side note: I am starting to look into the situation of the transmission giving bad clunks when it shifts, I am trying to find the exact source.

The unit I am referring to is all black instead of black and white. It is located high enough above the gas pedal that I suspect it regulates air flow to the defroster vents and the middle dash vents. I have not had any clunking in the transmission on my car yet. Hope you can figure that one out.

Hello, I have a 2009 Ford Taurus and it has the same blend actuator above the gas pedal. I also have an identical actuator behind the glove box for at recirculation. They are both clicking and I have outdoor temp air on driver side, and cooler air on passenger side, but not cold A/C air. I play with controls and have gotten brief cold air on driver, so I know my A/C is working, its just an air direction problem. After researching online I find many similar cars have a RH actuator just to the left of the recirculation one behind and to right of radio (under the wire harness from hell), however when I opened up my glove box, I have no actuator there. Is that one for dual climate control only? b/c I do not have dual climate control.

Rahul, my guess is that it could be ABS related, maybe wheel speed sensor, etc..

hello maybe I can shed some light on your transmission problem. I had to replace my a/C condenser witch is also the transmission fluid cooler. the transmission cooler had pin hole leeks. I thought my ac compressor was leaking oil cause it collected on my ac compressor. boy was I wrong. by the time I fixed it the damage was done. just waiting out the transmission failure and replace it.

It might. Are yours clicking too? They actuators direct the air ( I've understood it so through experience with that problem). In my case, my driver side doesn't get hot air.

It might be the rack and pinion? Mine was making grinding rattling sounds when I turned and would be slow when turning.

I have a 2008 Taurus SEL and the passenger side isn't as cold as the drivers side.I changed the blend door behind the glove box because it was clicking..It didn't fix it..So which one is next? I'm sure I can figure it out, but if you know I'll wait until you answer back..Thanks..

Watch my part 2 and part 3 videos of this series. In there somewhere I mention taking a HVAC fuse out for calibration purposes. For now I would just try the calibration, then if its a no go we will look further for solution....

Hey there I am having the same problem with my Taurus X also a 08 SEL. But mine is behind the glove box. Now when I removed it but left it plugged up. The white actuator part would spin when I turn the car on. And it wouldn't click. Just curious if that's still the the problem or if it's inside the black box that the white actuator is screwed to. When I put the blend door actuator back in and screw back in and start the car then it clicks but if I remove it the spline on the actuator rotates one way and then back the other way. I appreciate any help I can get and I thank you in advance if you reply back thank you

I would say you have stripped teeth inside, only under a load will the gears strip and click. Change it out.

@@murlecampbell8360 I connected it and turned the car on so that it would rotate. I managed to get it in, but the clicking sound is still there. Is there another door blend actuator higher up in the dash? I've searched the web for a complete dismantle of the dash, but can't find anything.

@@JohnSmith-xx1lx I think I may have got it in wrong because the fix didn't last long. I still have clicking in my drivers side, I've been putting off replacing it, but I must do it before summer is in full swing.

My car is the exact same model. It clicks the same sound and there's two wires that if I connect them it starts if they are not it won't start. The AC isn't working I mean it works however it will over heat so we do t use it. the windshield wipers function is also out. Could this be the solution for these problems ? The car runs good besides the AC and wipers .
