I just wanted to say thank you for posting this video. You saved me some money and I learned something in the process. I bought the part for approximately $25 at my local auto parts store and installed it with little trouble after watching this video. I know it sounds silly, but one part that you explained that was helpful to me was how to flick the red clip back, so that I could remove the electrical connector wire. Again...thank you.

Holy wow! I have had this noise for a couple years and just through I was SOL. Thought maybe something was just caught in the vent door cause I notice it whenever I turn the AC on or off. What a bunch if a**holes. They also wanted 100 to drop a battery in. THEIR battery! I believe I said, just gimme the damn thing...because even w a big, heavy Challenger battery (in the trunk, no idea what the small one up front does after 13 years...) it wasn't that bad to replace. Took 2 min.

The knock is gone and it was an very e-z install. Thx for the video. Oh and I advise anyone to change cabin filter too. The slot right below is where the cabin filter goes and mine was extremely dirty. There’s a video on KZbin on how to change it. Very simple to do and it cost about $10-15.

I replaced these two on passenger side no problem. it's the one on the drivers side that controls where air is blowing, defrost, face, feet, that is nearly impossible to get to. I replaced it once, it worked for a week then got stuck again on face. Not a real big issue except when really cold and you need defrosting/fogging. That was about 3 years ago and I just use piece if cardboard to help direct air from face vents to windshield!

Very, very simple on a Taurus, open the box, remove contents. On the left side inside the box is a round plastic tab, press it up to remove the "soft drop" arm at the side. Then press in the sides of the box to release it, and pull it gently towards you. It comes completely out of the slots. The Edge, 08-09 Taurus, and many other models work the same way. This allows you to access the blend door motor and the cabin air filter in these cars.

I do have the clicking sound heard in your video and I hope you are correct that it's this easy to fix. However, my second symptom is that both passanger side and rear seat is stuck in hot air and I do only get AC on the driver side.I suspect my problem is another actuator that is less easy to fix :(

OR, maybe you're in luck and it just needs the gas refilled. It's also fairly easy and cheap. Walmart had the hose and 2 cans of gas for 26.00. It's even stupid proof. The nozzle only fits on the correct one. The low pressure one for AC. Which gas is inside the hood. Mine on a 2009 Sable/Taurus premier is R134A gas. It's on a yellow sticker on the fan. It gets warm, so numbers might be warped, tho. I haven't don't it yet, but it looks t9 be an easy fix and if the a/c ALREADY doesn't work... Also, I'd avoid the one w the sealant. Like fix a flat, you'll have to remove that stuff sooner or later. And that might be harder than you'd think.

Great video, I have a 2010 mkt and about a year ago the passenger blend stopped working, no heat works on that side. Good thing I'm in Florida and don't use heat much! Well just yesterday this clicking started and you are right fresh air door! I heard you say in the video that the temp blend doors are buried? I just got this sound today on my 2012 Ford Fiesta after I finished putting gas. It scared me, I thought it had something to do with the airbag but I then I turned off and on the car and played with the AC controls knowing that AC modules are also located inside the dash and I figured it was something with the AC system. Two hours later at my home, I googled the situation and seen videos such as this one and then I turned on the car to see if it did it again and it didn't. I guess I will just leave it like that unless it does it again then I will get it fixed. Anyways, thank you for the peace of mind I will get from knowing that it was the door module for the AC lol.

i have pulled may of the dash panel assm on the older fusions for the evap temp sensor that goes open and displays default temp -40 havent done the 13 models sounds like much fun and especially doing it in warranty time gotta love loosing your butt the time time around usually by the secound one you can beat the time.

sounds just like our fleet of Impala's. They have exactly the same problem! Recirc door or blend door, most of the time its the recirc door.

I didn't include a part number because it is dependent on year and model and even date breaks too. Calling the dealer with your vin is the best option.

If it turns out to be not the Re-circ actuator, but one of the temp control ones, can you make a video showing how to get to those and replace them too please? Especially the vehicles which have dual zone control.

Mine is the directional control that's behind the speedometer that is a bear to get at. Replaced it after a lot of cussing and fussing and it worked for about 2 weeks then stopped working again!

No, you don't have to fix it. I ignored mine for several years while A/C still worked. Now I bought the A/C gas and the hose (walmart) to gas if up if that's it. It's 26 bucks. I don't have this part here yet. I can live w the clicking. What I CANNOT live w is the A/C NOT WORKING. Driving it is fine as I'm still alive. Lol

I only have 59k and the car is a 2009 Sable Premier. I have it. I can count almost always 40 clicks. A/C worked last time it was warm, but not this last single day. Heat works just dandy. Also got the gas from Walmart. 2 cans of R135A and the hose for 26 bucks. Also a simple fix I understand. Lots of video on that, too.

I appreciate it. I meant how do you actually get the glovebox to drop down, which you skipped over showing, probably because of how simple it was. I eventually figured it out after a few minutes of looking at it. Thanks for the video though, it saved me a lot of time and money. I was so relieved that the motor was so easily accessible and didn't have to rip the dash apart. I had a fan motor switch go out on my old grand prix and the dash had to come off to replace it, stupid GM.

My actuator motor is trying to turn almost 360 degrees, but the recirculated air door only needs to turn 45 degrees. I replaced the motor and still have the same problem.

I had that, it was the mode door (feet, face, defrost). Fixed it last weekend, took about 3 hours laying with my head pressed against the brake pedal. I used a U joint with a ground down 8mm socket, but an 8mm universal socket would work better. The mode door is wayyyyy up and on the left side. There's some hot tubes up in there too, and make sure you have a strong magnet to retrieve the screws. Wear eyepro and try not to drop the ratchet on your face.

I replaced the actuator on 2010 licoln mkt this week but periodicially I still get the clicking noise when starting up. when the noise appears it doesnt feel like the actuator is clicking as i put my hand on it. Do i need to perform the calibration by pulling the fuse still or is there another motor requiring replacing?

I have a 2014 Ford Taurus (with dual climate) heat and a/c and dual are working. The issue is, it will only come out of the front vents. It won't switch to defrost or any other position. Would this cause that issue, as it seems like the air is not being re-routed. Don't hear a clicking sound at all.

+FordTechMakuloco As DLDK13 said, I have a very similar ticking noise coming from my 08 Mustang too. When you keep the AC thermostat to the extreme cold position this ticking noise is heard. Then I moved it to the next position and it stopped. Now after 08 months, it started again and keeps ticking even I keep the thermostat in any position. Is it the same issue of taurus with the air inlet actuator? NOTE: The clicking noise is faster.
