If I was the dealership, I would say a fair trade in value would be between $800 - $ 1, 000, considering that aside from the rust issues, front tires & exhaust leak, it's still a solid running truck, as you stated. In this day & age, 143 k on odometer isn't that bad. BTW, even down here in Southern Ocean County, I've seen quite a few Schumacher emblems & license plate frames, on the back of Chevys. 😊

I am thinking $3k trade value. The rust really hurts it in my opinion. I am guessing it is a 4.6 V8 since it runs well. The 5.4 3-valve were very prone to cam phaser issues if you were not religious with your oil changes.
@herewegofans
@herewegofans 2 ай бұрын
Easiest fix for phaser issue was oil changes of 5w30. Epa bs forced Ford to 5w20 to get mpg required. And updated plastic phasers were made available early 2018 and switching to put issue to rest. 300k engines all day with torque to pull.

Main problem is 2wd. Where the aftermarket temp gauge is normally would be the 4wd selector. The exhaust manifold needs to be replaced and often they break the studs. I'd say as it sits it would sell for around $5k around here. Trade in value would probably be $1500-$2k. If it doesn't already have the problems expect some brake line issues, transmission cooler line issues, the fuel pump solenoid under the bed of the truck is notorious for corrosion causing a no-start.

Hey Dave, I'm thinking around $2,500. The truck was only driven a little over 10,000 miles a year, and overall it's in really good condition. The rust is a problem, but this truck can be taken to a second-tier or third-tier used car lot and it will be snapped up by somebody who needs a pickup truck, for a couple of years and with that motor, that motor itself is worth a bunch of money in my opinion. P.S. Bring that truck down here to Georgia. Other than the once a year Atlanta ice storm, we fine with the 2 wheel drive. Love you, Jersey.

I would say $3k-$3,500. It’s in great shape for the year compared to Northern MI where I live. There would be large rust holes through it by now if it lived here. lol 4.6 is a great motor and there are lots of miles left in it. 2wd in MI would kill its resale value though. A dealer here would probably list it for sale (with new front tires) for about $8,500.

As I watched the video I was thinking around $1,500 or maybe a little more. Seems like a lot of rust to me (I’m in VA so I admit I don’t see cars that age that are rusted) and with an exhaust leak it would never pass emissions inspection.

In my area that truck should trade for around $4K+/-. You get something that old with low mileage, you have a sale for sure. In my area , the rust you see on that truck, would normally be there after only 3-4 years, unless someone takes extra care with the vehicle.

Dealer trade would be around $1k to at most $1,500. Dealer would then sell it for at least $8k or even higher. In Colorado, I’ve seen trucks with even higher mileage and body damage selling for at least $10k.

I'm guessing $2,500 plus or minus. Hard to tell what a basic work truck is going for these days. I think lower price vehicles like this will always have a ready market. Not everyone can or wants to spend 70,000 on a truck and then use it like a truck.I'm guessing the retail price is around 5K so you all sell it for 3K, make 500 on the deal plus the profit on the one you sold to the guy who traded it in and the buying lot makes a couple thousand, everyone (except the schmuck who traded it) wins.
@jonathantaylor6926

If you gave $1,000 bucks for that truck, you did him a favor. That rust and not being 4x4 kills it. But people trading in a car need to be careful because salesmen can play games. You could have given him 15K for that rust bucket if you were really getting him good on his new truck. When trading in you need to look at the entire deal.
