2010 Mercedes E Class P2422 P0452 Evap Codes

Wanted to show proper testing and operation of this type of evap system monitoring, and how to properly diagnose via the current trouble codes

Great diagnostic detail! Just goes to show you "throwing parts at the car" (guessing) is extremely expensive to a customer when shops don't know what they are doing. I've read so many customer invoices (in cars that I've purchased, along with real time stories.) over the years where 3,4,5 etc. parts were need to fix a car. Well... which part was it? How can someone stand there and justify that to a customer? I would not sleep at night from guilt.. If "throwing parts at car" is your strategy then you are not a mechanic! Great job DTech!! Actually thinking, observing, diagnosing, (hey theres a concept!) etc is a proper strategy and the signs of a good mechanic! Love the post. I'm about to perform the same P2422 diagnosis on a 2008 CLK550.

nice video. What's the Vacuum gun you have for testing?

it's a unit from MAC Tools, p/n PBT80020. it's very handy as it not only pulls vacuum, it will also generate positive pressure of up to 30psi. Hope that helps and thank you for watching

Thanks for the video I’m having extended crank issue on my 2008 Mercedes e350 No Evap Leaks, I’ve replaced fuel pump, fuel filter, canister vent valve, purge valve, MAF sensor camshaft sensors, crankshaft sensor and still haven’t solved the extended crank, recently I’ve gotten P2422 canister vent valve stuck closed but I have replaced that already and my car always has a hard time started especially after getting gas. I know my fuel filter has a pressure sensor but is it the same for my 2008 as it was for the car in the video.

That sounds like the purge valve solenoid, but i see you replaced it already. I replaced mine, and the problem went away, but now it comes up again, along with p0451, pressure sensor, AND p2004, intake flap is broken 😔

@@unreal2005 yeah I just changed the fuel sending unit two weeks ago, once again with a new Original VDO unit and the purge valve and my issue for the check engine light p2422 went away, but returned on Wednesday so I’m bummed out over all the car runs fine, only check engine light p2422 and extended crank.

I recently had the P2422 code and P0451 code rear it’s ugly head. It says that the evaporator system vent valve is stuck closed. The car runs fine and there are no issues with start up. This is the second time in a week that this has happened. The first time it happened I cleared the code. I don’t have the trouble shooting tools so it may be time to take it to the shop. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

@@dclanders I ended up putting the original vent valve back on the car and it solved the p2422 code the OEM updated version of the vent valve the dealer sells was the problem.

I'm not sure on that model, but you can always pop open the cover and expose the fuel pump and look for the separate 3 wire connector that would lead towards the middle of the tank, if so than the sensor is in the same location as this one

Hi do you know if the pressure sensor is located in the same spot for a 2006 E350?

I am not exactly sure, but if you want to check, you can open and expose that fuel pump cover, and look for the pigtail connector with 3 wires on it that would lead to the sensor if it is there in the same spot

I've changed the purge valve and charcoal canister vent valve. And still with that p2422 code. I was told it can be bad pcm but I'm sure it's same as you went through. Shop had to give me my money back, they couldn't figure it out as well. $425 parts labor. Thanks again.

What if the P2422 codes says the valve is stuck closed? I’m not having any issues with drivability.

On my 2015 MB GL550 I had P0451 and P2422 I replaced fuel tank pressure switch it was pain and I still have check engine light on. I bough switch from FCP euro OE switch but not OEM They say it’s same switch made by same company but now I’m questioning if i made right decision with none OEM switch. Please advise Thanks

it would definitely be a chance the sensor could be the issue if it is not scaled properly. But you can check easily in the scanner live data at key on engine off and see what the reading is and compare it to the spec on my video.

That's why I run marvel mystery oil both gas and crank case in 2010 Mercedes s550... ethanol is bad for these sensors
