This is the driveshaft from a 2010 rxtx that needs replacement . This kit shown will be everything needed to update driveshaft to newer style

Hey man, sorry to bother you. My jetski is leaking oil just like you mentioned. It is the one with the threaded shaft. I removed the shaft, and got the bearing assembly out. Is that all i have to replace? Or do i have to replace the seal that goes after the bearing assembly, on the PTO housing?

Replace the assembly as a unit . Don’t worry about the crank seal . It would also be better to update the drive shaft as those old ones eventually strip .

You have to loosen the nut anti clockwise . I presume it’s a 2010’ model ?

At 1:58 you stated you bought a new bearing carrier. Which year model PTO seal/bearing carrier did you order? Part # perhaps? 2010 Seadoo Wake Pro 215 here converting to old style shaft.

I ordered the older style pto bearing that accompanies the drive shaft .

Hi does the PTO seal also have to be replaced when changing back to the older style drive shaft..? Take the old one off and put the new one on...? Thanks! JR

Hi there the old pto seal must be replaced with the new style to match the new shaft . In theory if you go back to the older style drive shaft the new style pto seal unit can work if you remove the insert , but this is not advised .

Is the "PTO seal" the rubber boot in your video on the left side of newer drive shaft? It replaces original that old style shaft has nut that the drive shaft threads into? The bellow that holds the carbon ring is at very rear of boat where shaft enters hull correct? Original carbon ring (holder) bellow is unchanged?

I know this video is old, but I seen a comment answered 5 months ago. I have looked everywhere to find the removal of the screw on collar and is the only video I have found. My question is, there is a collar same size but not a screw on type but looks like it and is suppose to replace it. Have you heard of this or know how this works? any commesnt on experiencing this is appreciated.

Hi there then this video is the replacement kit . You will have to replace drive shaft , carbon seal ring a collar and bearing carrier . I hope this helps

Check the drive shaft pto housing seal and bearing . Usually they would start to leak and we replace them .

@@CesarGT96 no , just need to remove the jetpump then pull the drive shaft out after releasing the collar c clip . You can check for a oil leak by feeling with your hand directly under the pto shaft seal and bearing it’s situated where the drive shaft enters the engine pto .

Jeff Tougint it's normal thread , that way the rotation of the engine can't possibly loosen it 😊

I am looking for a how-to video on replacing the old time with the new type? Has anyone seen a video? Do I need to drain all the oil and replace the bearing carrier when doing this?

Glen Pounders yes you need to drain the oil and replace the bearing carrier . It is a difficult process getting the old shaft out specially because they rust . You have to undo the big shaft nut and get it out . If you can’t undo the nut (it’s really tight) then you have to move the whole engine forward and slide the shaft out that way ,worst case scenario . We have a big spanner to undo that old style shaft though .

@@haleyy68 I have a 2009 GTI SE 155. The shaft is a reverse thread. I used a 36mm fan clutch wrench to hold the collar. I purchased a tool that slides over the end of the shaft and accepts a 35 mm socket to spin the shaft out.

Great video. Where can I buy the kit? I am an Auto technician, and the sound I heard from my 260 sounds like this failure has occurred. mine is a 2010. Does the engine have to come out to make this repair? Thanks in advance.

echohydro Hi there , a sound is concerning and needs to be checked out . It could be the drive shaft splines stripping . You have to remove the jet pump and loosen the shaft collar in order to get the shaft out for inspection . 2009 and 2010 have these shafts and they fail ,they strip they snap and collars eat into the rubber shield/boot and leak water into the ski . I realigned my engine because the alignment was out from factory ,so engine does not need to come out .

Redrockat Thanks for your response. I dis-assembled the jet pump, and found the splines were stripped inside the impeller. I had to stop, for vacation. Just got back, so I am off to remove the shaft. The boat still had the steel shaft, So I will get this kit to go stainless. Thanks for your help.
