All of those parts can now be purchased in one single kit part number from Ford. The part number is BL3Z-6D256-C which includes all of the above, except for the passenger side valve cover gasket, which will be dependent upon 2011-12 model years or 2013-14 model years.

You probably won't see this comment but someone will. I'm not a mechanic I own some tools and know enough to get my self in over my head. I took my 2012 Ecoboost F150 into the dealership for an yellow light on the dash and a loss of power in the engine. They told me the engine had jumped time and with 150k on it they recommended a engine replacement to the tune of 15K. The dealer did not recommend a repair on a engine with that many miles. I had already watched you 4 part repair video's and decided to pick up my truck and give it a go. Your video's a very through and informative and helped me to preform the timing set replacement with out an issue. You are good it pointing out the odd things to look for and proper way to disassemble and reassemble and start up the new engine. I Thank you you saved me a ton of money and that's especially important when your living on a fixed Income. My total repair bill with my free labor was around $2,500 and my 2012 f150 Ecoboost runs perfectly. Now that I reflect back too the project it was challenging but also fun too. Thanks Again

Whenever I have to install a complex part (like the timing cover) I will fabricate a few studs with slotted heads to thread into the block and act as guide dowels to prevent any damage to the applied sealant. Once the cover is in place and held with a bunch of factory bolts, the temporary studs can be twisted out and replaced with proper factory hardware. I just hate messing up new sealant. This series is outstanding.

Brian. Just wanted to take a second and thank you. You've taught me so much through your videos, and have given me the ability to both work on my vehicle, as well as help others with theirs. You are always so thorough, thoughtful, and precise about the way you go about things and I very much admire that. I don't have an ecoboost (rocking the Coyote in my F150) but still watched every minute of this project and loved it. I know it (and all your videos) took a lot of hard work and I'm very appreciative!

I did this repair on my truck over the weekend and it would have taken much longer without these videos. A bit thank you! One trick I ended up using was employing a strap wrench to hold the crank pulley in place for torquing the crank bolt. There didn't seem to be access to the flex plate to hold the motor, and the strap wrench worked like a charm. Thanks for taking the time to post these!

Brian, thank you for posting these videos. I just did this repair on my 2012 F150 using your videos as a guide. My truck made it to 180,000 miles before needing this repair. While I was at it, I replaced the radiator hoses, water pump, serpentine belt and tensioner, compressor belt, guide rails, and secondary timing chains. If you decide to replace the water pump, it comes with a gasket so don't order it separately. Also, I was able to remove and install the A/C compressor belt without a strap or zip ties. I just pressed the belt to the side to guide it off while turning the crank pulley. I installed it using your method except without a zip tie. I just held it in place while turning the pulley. Before taking a test ride, I put two gallons of coolant in the system. That was all it would take at the time. I got about a mile from my house when the truck started to overheat. I pulled over and was able to pour in another gallon of coolant. Since then, the truck has been running perfectly. Thanks again!

Hey Brian I just wanted to say Thanks and Great Job on the videos! I just completed this on my 2012 3.5 Lariat (78k miles) along with a RH exhaust manifold swap out (sheared off stud and leaking) just under 1k in parts. Ford quoted 5k to do all the work and I know they wouldn't of done as good as a job that I just completed with your help. I also put new water pump in as well as replaced all belts, radiator hoses, spark plugs and cleaned all the mass air flow sensors...should be good for many many more miles now!! Took me 6 days off and on and only a few set backs that slowed me up a bit...I just donated to your shop as well!! Cheers....

Thanks Brian, this video was great. The timing jumped bad, crank was at 1-2 o'clock position before I disassembly & i corrected it before reassembly,. When it was time to crank to prime oil, starter wouldn't engage. After a few days I discovered the run/start relay was up higher than the other relays. It had a bent pin. Replaced it and engine crank and runs smooth thanks so much.

Wow how nice of you to do this for others! Mine has been making the noise since 40,000 miles. I mentioned it to the dealer a couple times and was told it was possibly the bendix on the starter occasionally sticking. Now at 72,000 miles I can almost bet they will not cover the repair. I may attempt this myself. Again, I think this is awesome that you take the time to share your knowledge with others. Thanks for doing that!!!!

Good video. A friend of our has a very nice 2011 Ford F150 with the EcoBoost twin turbo. Her chain has been bad for awhile. It got to the point it wouldn't want to climb hills and it had no power on take off. She could not afford 4800 to have it fixed at the dealer and most of the local garages would not touch it. I am a disabled veteran and stopped working on vehicles awhile back because it pain me to much to do so, physically that is. One day she pulls into our driveway and I heard the chain slapping the cover, not good at all. I knew the chain was getting ready to break and when it did she would ruin the engine and be stuck paying on a truck with a blown engine. I could not afford the parts so another purchased the parts and I donated the labor. 3 and half days to complete the job. If not for my physical condition I could of completed it sooner. Everthing was replaced including all 4 sensors and phasers. Parts including fluids and filter were 1586.90. I have never done a timing chain on one of these engines and your video helped me save time with removing only what needed to be removed. If I could post pictures I of it I would. The chain had so much slack in it that I could completely lift it off the sprocket. Worse one I ever seen. I did go through with my scanner afterwards to make sure the system was functioning as it should. All parts were purchased from the dealer. This way we knew we were getting updated parts. Thanks again for taking the time to make this video. I appreciate anyone who helps out another to try and save them money.

FTM - First of all, thanks for the video. Did the timing change and it started up and ran great. But it didn't get far as we shut it off and checked around for leaks and found a biggie - oil leak. At first we thought the oil filter wasn't tight but that wasn't it. Yours truly gouged the oil cooler and the oil just flowed out of it. Now it's off to the dealer to see if we can just change the cooler on the block adapter. Only advice I could add to you video series is be careful flopping that alternator around.

Impressive series you've done here - going to help out countless numbers of people! Well done sir! 👍 It's funny when people always come at me on the net when I rant and rave about how good cars used to be from the 60's to early 90's, and they come back with, "Well, the engines never lasted more that 100k miles!" I'll just link them to this video series from now on instead of arguing. 😁 In the day you could have an engine out in 45 minutes, and rebuilt in a day or two, depending on how busy the machine shop was. Total labor maybe 2 hours, and paying the machine shop if you don't already own one. Alot of the time you could just do a quickie rebuild yourself with no machine work, aside from honing with an electric drill. I rest my case. 😊 Besides that, we used to always run engines well over 160k miles on 50's -70's vehicles - maintenance and tuning was key! People don't realize that without a 6th digit on the odometer, you're putting alot of faith in the seller's word. Total miles can always be "tweaked", even today.

@@erictech201 Oh yes you can. I actually just did one of these jobs on a 2018 Navigator. Was it a bit more work? Yes, but still worth it, considering the unlimited access to engine components without a fight. The only extra work involved with Expeditions and Navigators is removing the front and rear bumper fascias along with the wiring to sensors. Along with the fuel filler neck and additional body to frame fasteners, that's all the extra work needed to separate the body from the frame, over that of an F-150.

Just finished this job... And no oil pressure. I'm speechless. I don't know where the oil pump or oil pressure sensor are. Edit: I decided to say fuck it and start the truck. I figured the ice cold oil mixed with the slow crank speed made it impossible for the oil pump to provide any pressure. So I fired the engine and after 4 seconds the pressure shot up to normal levels. Trucks running great. Thanks so much for this video series. Saved me $3,000 by not taking it to the Ford dealer.

Watching these 4 parts made me confident I can change the timing chain on my 3.7 f150 no problem… I would say lack of access is most difficult part… I might take off my hole radiator and front grill… ford gave me a price of 5300 cdn $ to fix in dealership…

2013 F150, 3.5 EcoBoost, original owner, body perfect, looks like show room truck. Kinda OCD on maintenance, synthetic oil after break end and changed oil at 50% oil life, 3 dealer transmission flush, and 4 fuel injector cleans. 197,000 miles and no real problem other than new water pump at 175,000, and battery. I still get 21+mpg highway. Starting to think about get a new engine, or possibly rebuilt and going through it and then install in my truck when this one starts to go. Here are my questions: 1. Ecoboost or 5.0 Coyote? I know that I would need a new flash on ECM, additional sensors, etc., but is it too big of a headache to install 5.0? 2. Or....if I do go with an Eco, can I install a 2nd generation Ecoboost engine easily? Is it feasible? Mike

This is a greatly in-depth and informative video thank you! I have a few questions though as I am not very familiar with these engines, 1. Since the engine is not transversely mounted like in fwd vehicles is that why the water pump is belt driven instead of inside the front cover like some other videos I’ve seen? And 2. Is it necessary to replace the phasers or is it just a do it while you are in there sort of deal?

29:53 A more easier way to prime the engine with oil without starting is to Hold the Gas pedal to the floor as you cranking the engine. as long as you holding the gas pedal to the floor the engine will not inject fuel and engine will not fire up.

My 2016 F150 EB timing cover is leaking at 80,000 miles and now I see why. What a dumb design requiring silicone to seal it instead of a gasket and multiple areas for leaks to occur. Well done Ford...well done! It's just a matter of time before they start using silicone for everything including head gaskets.

Should the torque to yield bots be lubricated at threads and head ? Also when installing the high pressure gas pump you torqued it while the cam lobe was high so you were compressing the spring on the pump while trying to torque the pump??? With the spring pressure fighting you how can you reach a proper torque?
