2012 -2018 ford focus catalytic converter replacement

I couldn’t find anything step by step on KZbin so I hope this helps.
Got it off eBay for 100$.
O’Reillys quoted me 700$ for a new.

I have a 2017 focus titanium 2.0 Warning light at dash indicates either catalysts or sensors. I did replace the upper one but light came back. Just replaced the down stream sensor and waiting to see if that will cure it. Car has 26000 miles still like new, can't believe I need to replace the comverter so soon. Anyway, I'm pretty mechanical incline with more tools that I need, only good plus is that, I'm in Arizona, all metal, bolts and nuts are not rusted, thanks God. 😂. Thanks man. I really appreciate it. If you have replaced both oxygen sensors and the cat. Id take a look at your lower cat if you can. Or the computer could be faulty. Otherwise talk to ford. The dealerships like to play reindeer games. But if you’ve still got the warranty use the hell out of it.

I saw a few videos and read on some forums. Both had pretty limited info. But I learned a few tricks and kinda winged it. As you can see I made a few mistakes along the way but nothing major

This looks absolutely miserable. I have a code for failed catalyst and I’m wondering if it’s not something with my aftermarket exhaust because it runs fine. This makes me want to just pay the money to have it done, and I’m not the type to have shops do my work for me 😂

Yeah I get that! The hardest part was definitely removing the studs on the rest of the exhaust. It was a challenge but I’m glad I did it.

Use a defouler for your downstream(after cat). Erase code.

I read many using a additive to clean it with amazing success. Liqqi moli have 2 options as well ?

The only thing I’ve tried was cat a clean in the gas tank and that didn’t work at all

Is this tutorial also for the fofo 2017 1.0 ecoboost?

No it’s for a 2.0 liter n/a engine. Eco boost means turbo. A turbo runs off your exhaust. The cat for that will look completely different

Hm. Do you remember the seller? Ive been scammed on ebay many times. If ypu look through orders history you can see this info. Still, id rather pay 300 or 600 on eba rather than 1200 on ford parts. Also, has it held up good?

It had decent reviews. I can’t believe it’s only a 100$ right now🤣. But it’s holding up great. I’ve beat on it pretty hard. It might be a little louder but I can’t really tell.

@Dukedbomb thanks for replying. What dimensions was the one you removed and the one you bought? the weird thing is, when I enter my VIN I only get one option with weird dimensions but every ebay listing has bigger dimensions than the one FordParts is telling me I need.

Do you have a special focus? I didn’t get the dimensions. I just kind of trusted in eBay😂. They seemed almost exactly the same. The new one had a different bend in the manifold but it didn’t change anything length wise.

thank you for this one, mine has a crack right at the flex part hard to get at any suggestions, like should I try to weld it or just replace it. ty for your time.

If you can take it out and weld it I think that would be good. But keep in mind it’s stainless steel… so you would either need stainless rods, wire, or use grey tungsten and stainless filler to TIG weld it. You would have to clean the inside for a good weld especially with TIG. Oooorr you could spend a 100$ and replace it. The cheap one has been working good

So far so good. I should probably check the nuts make sure they are tight. It seems to getting louder
