still can't understand why the bikes weren't tested in factory form (or at least with factory accessories like the termi pipes on the Duc), and I also can't understand how/why the FASTEST bike in a TRACK ONLY test was rated 3rd... I mean, that's cool if other bikes felt better or felt faster or whatever, but when you're racing on the track, they won't give you a title or trophy for saying, "hey, well my bike feels faster than the guy who won"...

I was going to comment on this exact same statement. Before I got my 2005 ZX10R dynoed it would just want to wheelie without trying once I hit 7k rpm. Now the power is a lot more linear. The bike makes more power but it feels slower. Front wheel just feels a bit floaty now instead. A lot more rideable.

all the bikes should be tested full stock. am i the only one thinking it's weird BMW don't need mods to get to second while honda needs pipe, dynojet and quick shifter to get to first?

The KTM is, hands down, the sexiest looking bike out of that entire class. I don't lust after any other bike the way I do about the RC8. That thing is straight up sport bike porn.

Yea I can not afford to buy brand new so now that these bikes are in my price range its good to see how they compare. I have the 2005 ZX10R. Am looking at upgrading to the 11-15 model for the traction control, better handling, more power and it is pretty similar weight. How have you found the bike?

Correct me if I'm wrong but they said they used PC only on Honda Kawasaki & Yamaha. So BMW would've been 1st if it had a PC

Yes because heavy emission controls bite the japanese market on 2009-2015 so all the models came fully restricted especially in usa yamaha honda and suzuki came 30-40% off from their real performance. yamaha came more and is a hell of a bike once the restrictions are gone with a pcv and full exhaust system plus a throttle tweek via its valves they become real R1 . Bmw cause european bike could get away being less restricted . Nowdays all restrictions are equal except ducati who still wont give a fuck and thats a good thing.

These tests can be summed up very easily. 1. If it has anything other than a twin, it instantly fails the street portion 2. If it has clipons it instantly fails the street portion. 3. If it gets less than 50mpg it instantly fails the street portion. 4. If it has a chain it instantly fails the street portion.

+mrsuperbuckets I mean, none of these bikes are great on the street. If you want that, get a standard sport instead of a super sport. It's definitely the lesser of all available evils when talking about any of these things being friendly off the track. They're all beautiful machines though.

I'm ashamed of my 2012 R1. Hopefully my Graves titanium slip on, ECU unleashed, pcv dyno tuned, Euro spec air box enlarging, and BMC air filter woke it up some. I hear the airbox inlet enlarging alone adds 10 hp. 🤷‍♂️😭

I don't know why they even put 1199 Ducati up against 1000cc bikes seems like it belongs in a different class, and it didn't even win. It's a race bike so what class can it race in? I think Ducati should make a 1000cc bike to compete in this class.
