Thank you! Excellent video! I am now buying tools and learning to become a windscreen fitter by myself as so many people refused to teach me. I even applied for a trainee technician job and got refused without a reason! I learned a few things from you! I will watch more videos on your channel

This is awesome, I recently got a job as a glass technician at a really professional glass service place, but I have no idea what I’m doing lol the guys there are really cool and very good at their jobs but they aren’t the best teachers. It’s nice to see some one give a really detailed rundown of how to do this kind of stuff. Thank you!

Using a cold knife is fine for damaged screens but NOT for salvaging. (for us mortals). I would say 150lb mono fishing line + wood handles, soapy water spray + patience for salvage. Those glass scrapes will result in cracks in the winter. Great video for those who can source a replacement without going to the breakers yard.

Thinking of replacing my own windshield on my 2016 Nissan Altima, would you mind listing the things I need in order to do so?
@toxicvidz012 жыл бұрын
Wish we could use extractors. Not even allowed to use a cold knife unless the glass is caved in

Very good informative video. The only downside in this demonstration was the pack of protection applied to the inner sills of the vehicle. I mean that they could be marked or contaminated by your footwear whilst standing up on them during the cold cut and glue application. You did mention that you never put your feet in to the cars footwell, you can if you protect further.

32 minute video and he replaces the entire windshield. Me, after 32 minutes still working on the rusted spline shaft and frozen wiper arm. WD-40 ‘d it and walked away! This will take hours, 😂

Is that a hackzall modified in any way to work with the express blades or just simply plug and play?
@jsautoglass60293 жыл бұрын
It’s not modified whatsoever it’s just a hacksaw with the blade they sell from equalizer I will say do not use this tool method on difficult jobs only use them on quick simple jobs to finish faster you’ll break the blades a lot quicker if you use them on difficult jobs

Do you need to use the tool to cut the urethane at the bottom of the windshield or would the cold knife work too?
@johnd71902 жыл бұрын
You can't really use it at the bottom because of the urethane bead being either really thick or far away from the glass where the blade won't reach. A cheaper alternative would be metal wire.

im about 5 months into the glass industry. I work for one of the larger companies in the country. Just wondering if you learned on your own or if you worked for a larger company and then started your own business? nice work with that cold knife and extractor

Crazy dude hammers the mirror off you know equalizer makes a tool for those. Otherwise use a small flathead and just pull the mirror off. Risk scratching the bottom of the mirror that way especially with a metal hammer

Tip with those mirrors. Leave the tape on until after you hit the mirror back on.
@jsautoglass60292 жыл бұрын
I like that idea or even wrap the hammer with a towel
@michaelchapman12582 жыл бұрын
@@jsautoglass6029 I usually use a rubber mallet on those. Sometimes it takes so much force to hit the mirror back on it can pull the windshield down if it’s not taped to the roof still. Rubber mallets are nice because it won’t damage the headliner or scratch the dash.

No primer needed with that glue or?
@jsautoglass60293 жыл бұрын
The glue we use actually does come with primer already made into it I think in the video we did explain how we primed the glass but I don’t typically prime the actual vehicle where the glue will be shot unless there is a bare metal. You can over prime a vehicle to the point where the next technician that comes out will have difficulty cutting out the glass always make your job easier for the next guy because the next person could be you
@iCIlluSioNSs3 жыл бұрын
@@jsautoglass6029 fair enough, good to know, in the uk, Belron don’t take this into consideration and force us to prime both glass fully and aperture, nice video

vaccuum that glass before you cut the bottom. Put a rivet in the slot for the mirror and tap the rivet...Get rid of the clips before you trim the urethane...
@raizelruvalcaba1723Ай бұрын
Why didnt you use a bat? Wouldve been faster than using a cold knife. Especially since the glass wasnt damaged on any of the sides. The line wouldve cut thru much faster.
