Your instructions were spot on. Installed a controller in my 2019 E450 Entegra Class C in less than half an hour. Thank you so much.

I did this in my 2014 E250. All harnesses were in place however there was no power. Turns out because the factory controller was never installed, neither was the 30 amp fuse. Another ez fix. Excellent video. Thanks

Ford made this unexpectedly easy. It feels like an apology from the engineers for not being allowed to just include the trailer brake controller as standard equipment.

thanks very helpful, was all the wires all ready ran to the back? mine are but there's no power to the brake (blue wire) in the 7 pin. I'm guessing this fix's it . do you have a part number for the wire adapter?
@wanderlust1012 жыл бұрын
Mine was pre wired, all I did was plug it in. I’ve found this Ford truck forum to be very helpful. www.ford-trucks.com/forums/index.php

@@wanderlust101 I seen it was pre-wired but there was an adapter going from your truck wiring to the brake controller. That's what I was wondering if you had a part number for that or if you had a store somewhere I could buy all that

A bit off topic, but where did you get your wiring harness for the towing connections. My E350 did not come with the tow package, and I cannot figure out how to equip my van to haul a trailer with brakes.
@wanderlust1016 жыл бұрын
J Elshaug My E-350 came with factory tow so the wire harness was already there. I’ll did have to get a new brake controller wire that had the Ford plug. I know some U-haul facilities will wire vehicles for towing.

I have the plug behind the coin holder and everything appears to be wired but didn't get power when I plugged it all in. Looked in the fuse box and first thought it just needed a fuse but there's only one blade in the box for that fuse. So I'm thinking they wired everything from the cab back to the hitch. Guess I have to rewire the whole thing?

I ran into that. You still have to run one wire back to the back plug.
@Deuce_Allan3 жыл бұрын
@@paulsabo7632 can you point me in the direction to understand that better, i'm not great with wiring. thanx
@paulsabo76323 жыл бұрын
@@Deuce_Allan I believe it's the pink wire. There is a wire coming out of the back of the trailer brake controller that needs to be ran back and connected to your trailer plug on the back bumper. If you don't run this wire then your brake lights and your trailers brake lights won't come on. All the harness does is supply notice from your brake pedal to the controller box. I still haven't finished mine to be honest I didn't need it shortly after I put it on but it's been on my list. Hit me back if you need to know what color wire it is and I can find out from my guy at the garage who knows. He has put on a lot of these.
@paulsabo76323 жыл бұрын
@@Deuce_Allan note that you have to have the round plug outlet on the back. I don't know what to set up will work with the flat plug. But if you have the round plug there will be an opening for that color wire that will make it all connect together color coded by the round plug diagram.
@paulsabo76323 жыл бұрын
I did all that but mine still doesn't work when I hook a trailer up to the back. I'm told I have to run another wire to the back harness.

Ok need help!!! Found the harness and installed an oem electric brake controller. Brought it to a ford dealer and after 3 days they told me that corporate told them, it’s not possible to upload the software. Even tho I have the harness and all the correct brake plugs etc. need some advice please help!!! Thanks.
@wanderlust1014 жыл бұрын
What model and year do you have? Is your truck prewired with the harness plug mounted at the bumper? As you saw I used an aftermarket controller that was “plug and play”, no software up date needed. Check out this Ford forum www.ford-trucks.com/forums/index.php

Were you able to figure it out because I currently have the exact same issue and I also try to use forscan and flash it myself but can’t seem to find the module.

No I wasn’t able to figure it out. The dealer basically was standing there with their thumbs in their..... anyway, I made them refund my money since they didn’t do diddly squat. Yes the harnesss was there and the harness extended to the rear with both plugs and what looked to be a factory bracket with it.
