A capacitor just stores and discharges electricity as you need it. It doesn’t fool your system. The ballast regulates the voltage and amperage (together makes watts) the capacitor helps get the bulb started and then gives more wattage to the ballast to power the lights so they don’t flicker anymore. Still a great video I got some HIDs as well

My 2017 Santa Fe Sport with 2.4L 4-cylinder engine manual specifies a 9005L bulb in both the low and high beam. I pulled the bulbs to confirm and it actually says HB3 U 9005l on them. I don't understand why the bulb has two specifications written on it -- perhaps there are two different numbering systems. The manual specifies 60 Watt Halogen and 35 Watt HID. The low beam on the passenger's side is much easier to get to if you remove the overflow tank, which is easy, just remove 2 10mm bolts. Also, I believe some ballasts today include the igniter/capacitor/canceler built in.

Thank you so much for your video! It helped me immensely! The one note I thought I'd add... they seemed to have changed the dimensions of the plugs for the bulb. A 1" was not wide enough. I tried a 1 1/8 and that was too big so on the other one I used a dremel to wear down a little notch so the plug would fit through.

Hi. Just watched your 2013 Santa fe HID install. Exact problem I'm having. Do these capacitors, I believe billed also as error code eliminators resolve 55w kits from not firing? Any additional clarity on the polarity you mentioned? Be sure they are trying to fire (and go out) to be sure you have them plugged in right to avoid blowing the capacitors. Is this correct? If they are backwards the lights don't even try to fire. Please let me know. Thanks.

I wish you started the video with you taking out the low beam out of its slot. I cannot get it out as it is so tight and I am not sure if there are screws that lock it in or do I keep twisting it until it comes loose? High beam is fairly simple to take out but this low beam is so tough

anyway to change the top light thats blue to normal color like the headlights?
@cameltoegeo10 жыл бұрын
what "top light" are you referring to.... the brow? other than that, the high beam, low beam are next to each other..... as far as "blue"..that is color temp., so you would drop down in number---the closer you go to 4300k ,the whiter AND brighter it will appear...go below 4300k,(3000k) and it will be yellowish....
@ChaimLoecher10 жыл бұрын
Hey, instead of getting the capacitor/canceller , would a 55watt ballast do the trick? (or do the HID's need the 35watts but simply cancel the error message to the car). Great video thanks

It’s not a canceling issue what he didn’t tell you and I’m sure probably didn’t know is a HID bulb needs an igniter to come on a ballast doesn’t do that by itself

What's the order number for the capacitor?
@nated98614 жыл бұрын
I cringe when I hear anyone putting on HID’s now. I use to be into that when I was a kid. Now that I’m older with a family, it’s not worth the cool factor. It’s a headache when the Headlight housing melts from the heat of the bulb, or when your driving home late at night with your family and the ballast, bulb or capacitor goes out. You can’t simply drive to the nearest auto zone and buy a ballast, hid bulb or Capacitor. Yes people say, “just go to autozone and buy a standard bulb and use it until you get home,” but you can’t use a standard bulb when the plastic teeth that hold the bulb In place has been warped and melted by the heat of the HID bulb. Trust me, it’s happened to me way to many times.

I bought and used the parts that were recommended, and there is absolutely no improvement at all. I am getting ready to pass this car on to my 16 year old as his first car, but the low beam lighting is so incredibly poor, that I actually fear for him driving at night. I've already upgraded from the standard lights to LED, and now to the HID, and the difference isn't visible. Can anyone help me solve this problem?

@@carolinathrill Nothing has worked. Some Santa Fe’s use a “regular” H11 bulb and others use an H11b bulb. Only way I know to tell is by looking. The base of the H11 and H11b are identical but the power connectors are different. The “regular” H11 plug pushes in and the H11b twists in. The HID kits fit either base-the size and shape of the 3 prongs are the same. The problem is connecting to the stock H11b car’s power connector. I haven’t been able to find an adapter. I’m going to splice in a “regular” H11 connector in line with the stock connector (to retain the ability to use stock H11b bulbs). Or, I might permanently change the stock wire harness to “regular” H11. Then Any H11 HID kit will connect and I’ll just have to use “regular” H11 bulbs as stock (should I want to take the HID out).
