Hello geeat video! The final level must be done with engine running and the oil gearbox at 50 °C - 60 °C?

I am sure the workshop manual concludes the drain & fill with an additional 0.5L. Would one not repeat the procedure a few times with intervals of normal vehicle use? The old oil will be diluted in time with the new fluid. So long as the specification of the oils are compatible and the engine only runs with a full transmission, this should be adequate for a service. Landrover advises shifting through the gears only when the transmission is at 60C. Then check the level again with the engine running. Dropping and cleaning the oil pan might be worthwhile on a high mileage vehicle. I reckon a proper oil exchange - drawing or pumping atf into the transmission - is first prize. But, the workshop manual of the LR2 does not call for this when draining and refilling.

No gearbox dip stick.

You can drop the pan and change the filter but changing the oil is the important part.

I would be worried you put 5 litres in after only taking 3 litres out. Assuming this is the first ever change of it one can assume level was correct on leaving Land Rover. So if you took 3litre out 3litre needs to go back in. Plus this box takes about 7 litres in total. Normally one gets about half out doing a drain such as yours which tallies approximately with getting 3 litres out. The rest is sitting in and around the torque converter. So what you did needs doing more than once to change the fluid properly. As you have done it you still have half the old oil in there. After repeating you will still have a quarter and so on. I normally do three cycles which means around 85% fluid is new which is good enough for me. As I said at the beginning I would be worried you took out 3litres and put back 5litres, something is or was not right. I would suggest it is not right now.

No issues, drives perfect. Even better than before. You would need to be crazy to only put back in what was taken out? I used the official method of refilling, so now I know it’s right. IMO.

@@Roverturbo You would need to be crazy to only put back in what was taken out Why? It does not get used up like engine oil.

I explained in my last comment. I have no way of knowing if the level was correct previously. Now I do.

@@Roverturbo I would not be so sure on that. Your temperature measurement seemed a bit hoit and miss. If you happy so be it but as I mentioned before myou still have lots of old fluid in there.
