Hey bud. Great videos. I had a freelander 1, and just now bought a freelander 2. Those little drain pans are good. The reason it didnt drain quickly is because you still had the relief plug on at the top left not allowing air in. If you open that, it’ll fall straight through :) cheers

Mine is a manual so I asked the facebook group if anyone knew how to do an auto fluid change. Joe Hodgson from JAS Land Rovers (www.jas-lr.co.uk) responded with... “There are drain and fill points but unfortunately only about 40-50% the fluid can drain at any time as the rest is held in the torque converter, valve block, and the oil cooler and pipes. The best way to replace all the fluid in one hit is with a machine - sometimes called a megaflush or transmission flush machine. Draining and refilling via the drain and fill points between 5 and 6 times with fresh fluid every time achieves about the same but costs around 3x as much in fluid alone.”
@willdieudebellefontaine31983 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much for the effort and reply! Perhaps I’ll fill and empty it myself driving it in between fluid changes although that sounds like it might take a long time and cost more then getting a garage to do it 🤷♂️

I have a 2008 LR2. Would the gearbox be on the passenger side for USA vehicles? Also, before changing, did your vehicle sound like a Diesel engine? Mine sounds like that for about the first 30 minutes of running.

Hi, any problems with the trans after the fluid change? I have a 2013 evoque with 125k miles. I want to change the trans fluid but a little cautious because sometimes the trans will slip after a fluid change i was told bc apparently there are metal fragments in the old fluid that will keep it from slipping..
@BeavisPits3 жыл бұрын
All fine after my gearbox oil change. Mine is manual. Auto may be different.
@wiltshiredry3 жыл бұрын
You should change your oil every 60,000 miles! Don't change it if you've done over 100,000. This will likely ruin your transmission. Might as well keep your oil in there until the transmission goes. It'll do more bad than good
@BeavisPits3 жыл бұрын
I can’t see how this could possibly be the case. New oil would always be a good thing. The gearbox felt much better afterwards and is still running fine.
@AmericanBadAss9013 жыл бұрын
@@BeavisPits if you wait to long, there will be particles of transmission in the fluid. These particles act like sandpaper and keep the trans from slipping. if you swap out all that with Super clean fluid, theres a good posibility it will slip.
@BeavisPits3 жыл бұрын
I think you are talking about an automatic gearbox. Mine is a manual. Auto box is completely different and needs a power flush. This is much more involved and quite expensive. Not something the home mechanic can easily do.

I think that's the wrong oil for the gearbox. That looks like the stuff for the diff & ptu, although some put a 80w90 in the diff. Gearbox takes 75w.
@BeavisPits4 жыл бұрын
This is 75W90. This is the correct oil for the manual gearbox. The diffs are different...all three diffs use different oil.
@johnwyatt23162 жыл бұрын

@@johnwyatt2316 Just in case anyone else is reading this slightly confused this is a note to clarify things. For the manual gearbox pre-2011 models (like Scott's) the LR specification in Castrol MTF 97309. This is a 75w90 grade oil as is mentioned in the video. For post 2011 models the LR specification is Castrol BOT 350 M3. This is a 75w single grade oil.
