Thank you for this video! Exactly what I was looking for. I am in the U.S. with a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze diesel 1.6 - which is a rare vehicle here in the states so there's not a lot of content related to it. Even the local Chevrolet dealer is confused by this cars existence, which is why I am servicing at home.

So the oil pressure assists the spring. Why didn't Vauxhall put a higher power spring instead of relying on oil pressure.??

Works fine when new, until the spring gets weaker with age. Heat cycles etc.

I’m going to tackle this job on my DSG which I’m assuming is a Gen2 as it’s a 2015 car. Your video has been the most straightforward I’ve watched but I’m a bit stuck trying to understand how the DTI thing works. Do you pull up on the tools and see what the gauge measures?
@Roverturbo
@Roverturbo 9 күн бұрын
The dti is to check free play in the clutches, they need to be just right, not too tight (binding) or too loose. You set the dti up on the clutch disks and use the tools to lift the clutch’s up and down…. Same for both.

Can't thank you enough for your video. I filled my egr cooler with dpf cleaner (2 cans with flexible tubes [sealy dpf]) from both ends (throttle body and egr valve), but left it in situ. A nylon pipe brush was used to scrub it out as much as I could. It soaked for an hour. I should have syringed it out but I used kitchen towel instead, although I was careful not to drop any paper back in. The result is the box is as clean as a whistle and the warning light has stayed off since then.

As for the second generation BMW Mini (R56), I understood that the 1.6-liter engine was exclusively a PSA/BMW collaboration. The 2.0-liter is indeed the BMW N47, but the 1.6-liter is the one developed with PSA. Right? Am I wrong?
@Roverturbo
@Roverturbo 21 күн бұрын
I’m no means a expert… 1.3 and 1.6 petrol are psa engines,also with a turbo…the prince engine (n series) 1.6 and 2.0 diesels is a bmw n47. They also fitted the 1.6 dv6 (ford/psa) diesels later.
@Sr.D

The n47 is a bmw diesel engine, but they also used a psa/Ford 1.6 diesel engines, not sure what years these are, at a guess 2013 on, these are the same as the the 1.6 tdci they used in the Ford focus, fiesta , peugeot, Citroen.

the abs sensor light should go out at 10 miles an hour getting one into reverse just put it in neutral and wait a second then it will go in the wife has had one for 24 years and since she had the head gasket properly done that's head skimmed ,new 3 ply gasket along with new head bolts as they stretch and bingo you are all ready to go .do not for get those engines also went into lotuses

Hi. I ran a Freelander 1 for years. ABS light is normal, they stay on and then go off when you start driving, it is just how they are. I had 3 head gaskets in the time i owned my Freelander. It was maintained correctly and never overheated yet had the failures. If you decide to do the job then make sure the liners have not dropped and get the new design N series gasket. Have you checked for rot? The outriggers are a bad spot. Is the rear prop shaft still there? Many were removed when the viscous coupling failed making them front wheel drive only.

@Nick-bp7jf
@Nick-bp7jf Ай бұрын
@@Roverturbo That's great. If the body is solid and without rot then it may be worth a punt if you can do the head gasket yourself. There is also a modification you can do to the coolant plumbing that does away with thermal shock affecting the head when the thermostat opens. Some K series owners would drill a small hole in the stat to allow some warm water to flow through before it opens.

My hot take: Honestly you should scrap it for 300 or sell it to someone for parts. It has some things going for it, it isn't rusted to bits and it doesn't look terrible. It *could* be fixed by someone determined. But probably very few such people exist.
