Hey man! My diesel has been acting quite strange, it has not been starting well over the last couple weeks, and on 3 separate occasions, it has failed to start completely for about a day. It's a 2012 Golf TDI and I'm wondering if it has something to do with the glow plugs. I turn the key and it just produces a single click- the battery is fine, both in voltage and ability to utilize electronic accessories- and we also cleaned the solenoid connections, seemed to run fine for about a week near -10 degrees celsius, but has acted up again. Would love to hear back from you and if you've experienced this before. The car seems to run fine in mild to warmer conditions
@dopiaza20063 жыл бұрын
Single click will not be glow plugs. Check battery connections, engine earth strap. Possibly starter motor is on its way out. Can usually repair with new brushes.

Definitely intercooler icing. Pull your hoses from intercooler I bet a lot of water will come out, pull your glow plugs and crank the engine- I bet a bit of water will come out. I’m in the process of doing this with my 2012 TDI

You'll need to check the circuit resistance of the affected glow plug. If the resistance is higher than 0.5-2 Ohms, there circuit is defect. If not, the next step would be to visually inspect the affected glow plug and verify its condition. Hope this helps.

Just replaced glow plugs on a 2013 jetta tdi and at first it took a lot of cranking in order to start. After it started, I turned it off again and started normal. Is that common when replacing glow plugs? Or either did I get a faulty glow plug, or made an error in installation. I was disappointed at first, but maybe because they were new. In my 2011 Audi Q5, the glow plug light would flicker and flash under heavy acceleration. Since I didn't know the prior history for the timing belt and when it was last changed I went ahead and had it changed as well as the cam sensor. This solved my problem in my case.
