@@AnthonyJ350 so many “check engine lights” are not caused by bad sensors etc. I have seen way to many people throw money at vehicles on sensors, PCM’s, other needless repairs. Like it’s seems to be forgotten that modern engines are still internal combustion engines, functions same as “old” pre-computer engines. Much is the same as computers controlled systems, has the basic principles of electricity. Sometimes no codes can be faulty sensor causing other issues. ie I once had a V-6 S-10 with hard fault blown gauge fuse. I inherited this vehicle, after cluster had been sent out, npf. After tearing my hair out talking to tech, found a shorted ground on heated O2 sensor. No CEL, no codes at all, no starting or drive ability issues. Just blown gauge fuse. Sometimes those wiring diagrams help! When I called tech back didn’t believe me, had to walk through diagram with them. Found off one PCM circuit tied to gauges circuit. Just thought I would throw that in.

For anyone looking for ground issues not covered on many vids- Follow negative batter cable from battery to where it passes by the exhaust right after passenger side manifold. Mine had melted insulation allowing the wire to corrode. I had no issues, but noticed during undercoating a cpl weeks ago. Luckily welding cable was on sale at princess auto last week so I picked up some 4ga. It was a steal of a deal so I grabbed 20ft and should have plenty to also do some of the upgrades shown here. Good video man, thanks a lot for the this.

Quick question - at 1:21. Could I use one of those welded studs to the firewall that the wire harness is clipped to with those plastic zap straps that have provisions to slide over the studs. I could remove one, clean the paint off. Then secure my ground with a 10mm nut and put the plastic zap strap back in place over the nut.

After watching this video last night, I did decide that I wanted to do this to my truck. I have a 2014 Chevrolet silverado. No, I have not upgraded the grounds or anything else. I simply therefore, I do believe it is time for me to do this. I am going to make a slight modification. I am going to be mounting a terminal block to the firewall right next to the ground, then I am going to cut the negative cable going to the engine block, and recreate an end on here and then with the new terminal block, I can put my added wire to this as well as the wire going to the engine block.

Have a 2018 Silverado (Z71, LT) 1500. Replaced OEM lead acid battery (could hear it getting tired during starts) with Interstate AGM battery (preventativemaintenance). Remove/install went smooth. Truck starts/drives fine, BUT: no power locks, infotainment inop, no signal, no brake lights, no 12v cigarette lighter power, right headlight inop, no keyless entry inop. Center display shows no traction control, no odometer and none of the steering wheel menu buttons work. Truck starts, idles, auto trans shifts fine. Have not had on highway to check higher speed problems or cruise control. This is my daily drive & really need a troubleshooting assist. TY -Shawn

@@AnthonyJ350 Well I was wanting to just order it from Amazon or ebay and don't know what to look for. I did a search on amazon for a "standard GM side terminal & found this www.amazon.com/s?k=GM+side+terminal&ref=nb_sb_noss Is this what you're talking about? As for ground cable, I was hoping to just find a new precut with terminals, like Everstart SS51-2-77 4-Gauge Switch to Starter Battery Cable, 51-Inches that I can buy at walmart without making them. I think 51" would work on drivers side & will see if I can find a shorter one for the battery side. Do you know the lengths that you made up? Also, would it be beneficial to add some dielectric grease over the terminals to keep from corroding?

More than likely not. I had the same issue with my screen randomly changing and making the beeping noise like the screen was being touched. I tried changing the HMI module, but still has the same issues a few days later. So I took the screen out and checked continuity between the horizontal and vertical pins on the 55pin ribbon cable. I had about three vertical pins that were dead short to the horizontal. I ordered a new touchscreen from eBay, but while I was waiting I tried physically cutting out the offending pins from the cable. I haven't had any issues since then and there is only about a quarter inch dead vertical strip on my screen.

I had corrosion on ground cable on mine. The insulation had burned off one side of the negative cable right where it passes by the passenger side exhaust. Look carefully from engine bay on passenger side, follow the negative cable as it passes exhaust after the manifold. It would be easier to see from underneath if you are able but u may not even have too. Also can look into the G218 ground issue w these trucks, it's inside under dash near bottom of driver side windshield. Need to take a cpl things of but nothing serious. May brake some clips, but a 2 part epoxy can fix them right up.

All I had was 14 awg wire. I doubled it up and ran (2) 14awg from battery ground to the cowl as in your video. Is that ok, or am I at risk of this wire being too small? AKA melting? If so what gauge is adequate? I have a 2018 sierra and have odd codes every few months like service stabillitrack, service safety restraint system, U0140 lost comm with BCM, B127E, B1325, U0415. Never a power steering code. FYI when truck was under warranty dealer replaced neg battery cable because it was high resistance. Didn't seem to fix the every few months codes though. I did clean all neg cable grounds to no avail (frame on passenger side near front wheel well, driver side under cab under driver seat, engine ground). I have not checked the G218 dash ground as that was supposed to be fixed in later model years. Was hoping this ground would help since its going to the cowl like the g218 under the dash.
