2014 Hyundai Accent P0441 Incorrect Purge Flow

The customer initially reported the low oil pressure light to be on but it was actually the MIL on with a P0441 Incorrect Purge Flow code. Video shows bidirectional testing of vent and Purge solenoids but unfortunately no problem was detected.

Just because the ECU is commanding a, for example, 50/50 duty cycle, doesn't mean the solenoid is pulsing a 50/50 cycle. That part is 8 or 9 years old. That's 8 or 9 years of wear. In a case like this, I'd say verify the duty cycle is what the ecu is commanding. Verify the solenoid is actually controlling vacuum and not just clicking. And if all checks out, smoke the system. The value could have a mechanical issue at the plunger and you'd never know it. If that fails, I'd suggest replacing it anyway due to it's age. They generally aren't too costly. Just my thoughts I have this same code on my brothers 2012 accent. I'm going to have to tackle it this week.

scannerdanner had a video and that purge valve intermitant they put a 4 after market purge valve and the problem was still intermitant and finish puting dealer part to fix it

Yes after doing some more research I'm leaning towards a sticky purge valve. Gave it back to the customer we will see what happens.

Sometimes when a purge valve sticks open the customer may comment that after fueling the vehicle, it may exhibit an extended crank time to burn the fuel vapors out of the intake manifold.

Yes I have seen that quite a few times but this customer did not experience that problem. This car was sitting for several months and it only has 12,600klm on it. Thanks for the suggestion.

On the purge valve, the small hose you removed, that nipple supposed to have no vacuum suction??

Yes if the system is not currently purging then no vacuum should be felt on the nipple. If you're not sure if it's purging disconnect the electrical plug on it.

I replaced my purge valve because I had a P0441 code also and the check engine light came back on even after I cleared it. The gas cap is also new as well so I don’t know why the Check Engine Light is still popping up for me and I have a 2016 Hyundai Accent SE

Diagnosis is typically an hours charge. Since I never got it to fail I didn't replace any components but for this code it's usually a stuck open purge solenoid.
