2014 Newton Distance III Review: • 2014 NEWTON DISTANCE I...
Well, i finally get my sweet lil ginger feet into a pair of the 2014 Newtons and am pleasantly surprised after that whole Newton BOCO AT debacle. These shoes return to what I know and love about the newton lug system, even bettering an already solid platform by adding a 5th lug and adjusting the midfoot lug box. Really have to say I enjoy these shoes a LOT!
The 5th lug is an amazing addition, creating far more stability in this shoe compared to it's predecessor. It also features a beautifully comfortable upper thats thin, light and plenty breathable. This shoe really shines at the top of the Newton hierarchy, but BOY is it expensive.
Now, I have justified this cost in the past - citing that the shoe gets more mileage, wears better, performs great as a trainer, etc. But really, comparing this new Gravity III to the new Distance III, I really can't see why you would buy this over the $20 cheaper Distance III. That shoe will perform solidly as a trainer and racing shoe with plenty of durability - pending your efficiency - so i would stick with it. I will say that during my review process, I put far more miles in this particular shoe over the Distance, but that's because I realized just how similar they are.
So have you run in the new Distance III or Gravity III yet? What do you think about the new 2014 Newton shoes? And have you seen some of their new kicks like the KISMET, FATE and AHA?

Own a pair of the Newton gravity III . Best shoes ever owned and best Newton trainers ever owned. Very comfortable and light, great flexibility and wear. I should get 500plus miles out of my current pair, so helps against the high price. I use for all types of runs - race, tempo, LSR, intervals. P.S. Follow you on strava, very envious of those trails.

Ethan, as The Fruitarian recommends. You can buy a 2 sizes bigger in womens. I've done it with New Balance 1400. Not sure how it would work with Newton if they're gender specific??? That trick saved me money. Bought 2 pairs for 1400's for 75$. If the colors are worth it . Pull the trigger (although I'm sure you have too many shoes as it is)

I totally agree with the break in period, ive been running on 2013 gravity for a year and decided to buy the 2014 model! The first 30+miles was just awfull it felt like running on newtons for the first time! My legs were just killing me i dont know why. But now i love it best newton so far! It sucks they dont put in a different color laces like last year!'

I had waited for this review for quite some time, until I ran out of patient an bought one myself. It's my first newton and turned out to be everything I had wished for. Mine newton didn't take any time to break in and . . . my feet never stink even after 120 miles in the shoes . . . an my feet sweat a lottttt. Is it possible that each pair of shoes is different?

I just started running in newton's transitioning from the hoka conquest. Even with the calf tightness and pain during the transition, I've become obsessed with my newton kismet shoes!! Any chance you'll review that shoe?

Great review. I'll humbly add... You hear comments on the wear of Newtons especially in more of their elite shoes. An important aspect of Newton is posture, position and cadence. If these aspects of your running are not correct the shoe will not perform the way it is designed. I can attest that if you use their shoe as suggested you get your moneys worth. More importantly it means having more than one pair. Score! Just one dude's opinion, who clearly drank the kool-aid. Cheers

Hi, nice review. I'm thinking to buy a pair of Newton, specially this one. I have a Brooks Ghost 6, and i want a shoe for training and run long distances, mi size is 10, it will be the same for the Newton?, is any difference?, i'm a neutral runner. Thanks.

Man i like newton but my mv2 kinda feel apart after less then a 100 miles at their price is disapponting. Sad. Saucony is my brand now K4, Mirage 4 are beast!

hello , im 14 years old and im trying to train to run a 50 miler in febuwary but i cant find any videos that can help explain how far i should go on what days could you please make a video?!

If you 14 you should not do a 50 mile run. I think the most you should do is 15-20 miles unlike you are at least 18. But if you will anyway look up a training schedule on Google

Pop over to running warehouse, take a look at the upcoming Newton Fate. It's sick, with a lower price point (130). Also, If you disliked the boco at you might or might not want to google "boco sol". Have fun with that ;)

Ha! I don't agree as those lugs helped me change and dial in my form years ago w/ my first pair. Have you tried them?

Yeah just marketing. Lugs are annoying at times but its help much.

While I'm all about calling out marketing mumbo (Fresh Foam!!), these shoes changed my game. You have to take the time (months) to adapt to them and understand what's happening and how the form changes. It took me close to 8 months to really change my gait and get used to the lugs by rotating them with the regular shoes at the time. With how I run now, worth it.

I've got newton shoe,particularly mv2 in my rotation but after quite some time (150+ miles) i kinda gave up on them. Intrigued on getting the Distance but I ended up on Mirage 4 and they were great for me.

Alvin Mariano yeah the MV2 wasn't a great shoe. I had issues with it too after time. Wouldn't run in it again. I've heard the MV3 fixed some issues, but also haven't run in it. The Distance and gravity are TOTALLY different shoes than the mv2. Haven't run in the mirage, tho it's on the list!
