There are so many different kinds, I might have broken one otherwise. I am from the old days were changing a thermostat was very simple, like a 15 minute job with easy access. I got big laughs out you pointing out the stupidity of how they make modern engines. I'm convinced the engineers that make modern engines are the ones that got the lowest grades in college. They ought to make these people work on what they design. Actually I don't think these engines are made in Germany (not that they don't make crap too), but I think I saw on mine somewhere that it was made in Italy. So worse than Germany. I actually removed the pump thing above the thermostat instead of the battery. The battery looked like way too much hassle. Anyway, thanks!

If you have ever worked on a Volkswagon, you might agree with me. I see some of the same German parts on it. I put Euro, and German in the same basket. Not much difference. A lot of engineering over there comes from Germany. That thermostat is Korean too, and some Delfi tags on stuff, so what people say it is, and what it actually is, are different things. I'm sure I could find some Mexican parts on it as well if I looked hard enough. It is a Fiat. Just worked on a Chrysler 200. It had Mexican, Alfa Romeo, and American parts that I could see. Lots of outsourcing. Strange birds these newer Chrysler's. Saturn made mistakes with Opal, and others probably like this. Hopefully it doesn't end them like Saturn, and Saab. They get billions of tax credits from us, so they should be okay.

@@RustBeltAuto thnx for replying. Yes it does sound like a common issue on this part. I would also like to mention back in November 2018 the vehicle im talking about 2016 Latitude 2.4 ltr. It developed a miss out of nowhere, being bought brand new with 55,000 miles on it now, took it to the dealer thinking it was covered under warranty, but it was not. They said it was a spark plug and or wire that needed replaced. My daughter not knowing what to, told them to go ahead and fix it as she needed her vehicle asap, they charged her over $600.00. When I seen the receipt and what they replaced, I couldn't believe it. The charges were mainly all labour. I love Jeeps but I am very dissapointed. These problems should not be on a brand new vehicle right at 2 yrs old. Now the thermostat is bad I guess, the engine light is on. The heat takes forever or sometimes never gets warm. When we checked it at local Autostore, the code says something to do with that. Im sure that would be another 6-$800 fix at the dealer. Thnx again

My thermostat works fine, heat, good Temps in hot and cold weather. Just that stupid service engine light comes on because of this. Wouldn't it be worth it to try a new sensor first? I got a simple OBDII using Torque app to reset the light now to regain 4wd back. If a mechanical thermostat works then it could be a faulty sensor.
@RustBeltAuto3 жыл бұрын
It's usually always a thermostat. It's actually a thermostatic time code. It needs to get to operating temperature in a specified amount of time for emissions. When the wax in the thermostat motor gets distorted, coolant passes through it too early, and it takes too long to heat up.

You'll have less problems with that car if you kept the engine bay clean.
