This covers more than the oil change as stated in the title. That is why it is so long. The air cleaners are covered in the second half and the oil fill process is at the end.

I've been procrastinating changing my air filters for the past 2 years but am doing so along with some damaged front grille and spoiler trim pieces and you are correct all those myriad of screws need to be removed to access the filter boxes. Not even going to bother to count them but a battery powered wrench is mucho helpful. And I agree you don't have to remove the front wheels to get to necessary screws. Also for anyone doing what I am with the grille trim, be careful , ie slow, as the thread bosses are very fragile! Had to order a new surround...

Good thing I watched this video! I was dealing on a car in Denver (I'm in New Hampshire), looks beautiful inside and out but the underside was rough, air dam and plastic panels chewed up. It had 29,000 miles on it, looked like it had been down some rough dirt roads. Getting those pics saved me lots of money!

Scariest thing I have ever done is by a car over the internet and phone. My point for anyone doing this is make them work for that sale. Make them send you all sorts of pictures and videos with sound Driving videos and proof of cold starts. In this day and age there is no reason why they cant send good high rez images and videos with good sound.

The AJ V8 is designed to do an oil change from the top. The nipple under the oil fill cap is for an extractor. The oil filter can be changed out of sync with the oil, as it is up top too. A complete oil change from the top shouldn't take more than 3 minutes start to finish.

The story with the rusting steel parts underneath the car is that Tata Motors, which owns JLR, insisted on using Tata Steel from India. The problem is also seen on Land Rovers. Not sure if later models are affected

You don't have the correct jack points. The front points are inward, right next to the cats on the reinforced frame pads.

@@weekendwarriorgarage4402 The diagram in post 4, from your link above is an old X-Type, not an F-Type. An F-Type has 2 catalytic converters and two symmetrical down pipes running around the ZF8 then down the center in parallel into an X-pipe, then into a much larger muffler into dual center (V6) or quad exhausts (V8). The front jack points for an F-Type are adjacent to the cats, about a foot in from the side rails or you risk ruining the aluminium body and dropping the car off a lift. Its extremely important NOT to lift an F the same way as a steel monocoque X-Type. Always bring a diagram to a dealer or tire shop so they don't ruin your aluminum car and/or die.

If you shine a flashlight from behind the front wheels toward the bottom of the cat on that side, you'll see about a 6" jacking pad on the underside of the solid frame rail in the middle of the car, just outside each cat's most bottom point. Its not directly behind the tire. Jack from the rear half of that pad. Support with jack stands from under the front half of the pad.

@@FFE-js2zp That is correct it is for reference only. The manual will point out the ones I used especially for the in car jack. This is due to the grove the jack has to help stabile it on the car when on odd surfaces. The blade on the car fits in the grove to lock it in. The same on the rear plate where it has the larger grove close to the outside of the car. @@weekendwarriorgarage4402 Again, that is NOT for an F-Type. If you jack an F-Type up from the sills you'll ruin the car, as it is not a steel monocoque. Only use the factory designed jack points, the front are next to the catalytic converters toward the center of the car, to avoid accidentally dropping the car onto yourself. This isn't debatable, you used and showed the wrong jack points for an F-Type. You can't even use the sills for support.

Would you suggest an extended warranty on an F Type R AWD 2017 after the standard 5 year on a car with under 25000 miles? 6 years 5K.

That is a very relative question. I would check with forums and see if and what many others have done. Due to me working on most every part of the car I am not adding a warranty to mine. For many people I know that do not or don't have the capability to work on their car do get one. The biggest thing I do point out when people ask is do your homework on the extended warranty group. Many are not clear and side step coverage when they can. Also the manufacturer is not always the best extended warranty group to use. Hope this helps.
