This is a good question and comes down to timing. The 2015 Toyota Tundra extended cab did not earn a 2015 TOP SAFETY PICK because it was tested too late in the year. The acceptable rating in this test was released in 2016 (the vehicle was tested in late 2015) after the 2015 TOP SAFETY PICK awards were no longer being handed out. The 2016 TSP award was more challenging to get and required a basic rating for front crash prevention. The Tundra extended cab was not equipped with a system, so was ineligible for the 2016 award.
