Thanks for using my Charger Hellcat in your show. My best speed for the weekend was 179.3 on Sun. after lunch. That was do to a nice tail wind. Best time Sun. morning without a tail wind was 176.9. Had a great time this year. By the way. I was using BP 101 Sat & Sun.

Now I'm calling BS on those Charger numbers. One, I was there all weekend and didn't see those numbers from any "stock" car let alone a HC. Two, stock HC Chargers and Challengers dip into the mid 170s at sea level. I was at The Texas Mile. I'll give credit where credit is due, but let's be honest here boys.

Then you weren't paying close enough attention. Two HC's were in the mid 170's, both "stock"

The altitude must really mess you guys up bc I did a 1/2 mile race in my Hellcat Charger in Florida this past January. We did not have idea conditions as it was 36 degrees and had rained the day before so the air strip was a mess, but I got up to 151 at the half mile (other Hellcats got a bit more) and my car was stock back then. I think your guy said 140 something at the half. I would like to try that mile up there sometime in Colorado but that's a hell of a drive from me.
@BobbyOfEarth7 жыл бұрын
Considering the high elevation I find it interesting that this 2016 Hellcat with 707 hp ran 167 mph, however, they run 11 mph faster (178mph ) at the Texas mile. Compared to the black 2010 Shelby with 550 hp that ran 193.1 mph here, which is only 3 mph slower then the stock 2010 Shelby's that typically run 196.3 mph at the Texas mile. I'm guessing its the difference in aero drag between the two cars.
@funkingitup18057 жыл бұрын
Cars make less power at elevation. You answered it in the first 4 words.
@marcsmith38815 жыл бұрын
You are completely misinformed. No stock Shelby with only 550 hp would ever see 193 mph in mile on earth. Only modified 2013 and 14s ever hit 193 mph in a mile. Read details so you wont spread false information.
@kingbrutusxxvi4 жыл бұрын
"They want us to keep it under 165mph this first run until we can learn the track and the layout." ... Uh, isn't it a straight line? If you need to "learn" how to drive in a straight line please exit the vehicle and return your driver's license to the DMV immediately. ;-)

How much does the 200hp help in zero-60?
@JerseyMikeP8 жыл бұрын
Well the 500hp mode...would actually be less than 500hp at that altitude. When he ran the first run in 500hp mode, it had a trap speed of 107.7mph on the speed ticket. The old 425hp 6.1L SRT8 challenger ran 108mph 1/4mile trap speeds..so it would have similar 60mph times..which was 4.6 seconds. So with the skinny street tires 500 vs. 707hp is the difference between 4.6 and 3.7 0-60mph times.
@camcambambam51287 жыл бұрын
Andrew Manus Prime example C7 Vette 460hp 0-60 in 3.9, hellcat 707hp 3.7

Dodge really needs to make a better more efficient transmission because that's pretty weak for 707HP and the fact the driver notices the car becomes shifts hard at high speeds speaks for itself. Maybe a better differential would help too so it can get off the line quicker.

I had the M5. I now have the 2016 Hellcat Charger. Both brilliant cars, but don't kid yourself. The Hellcat is very fast and that power from highway speeds makes the M5 feel slower. However the M5 always feels more refined and planted. Both great cars and a lot of fun. Either will impress and the Hellcat is a superior package for the money. After 11K miles the Hellcat is also the more reliable car. The M5 was back to the dealer three times in the first 4 months, but that can also be attributed to bad luck. Again, both great cars.
@ledgic13177 жыл бұрын
should have used a charger hellcat, the one that is designed o be more aerodynamic. also the difference in speed from the 500 to 700hp version would most likely be noticed on top end. example the srt8 can do about 185, but the hellcat charger does 204mph verified, so i would say you get your 200hp moneys worth with the hellcat.
@SpeedDemonExpress6 жыл бұрын

Just curious Roman....how is your 2016 Hellcat holding up after all the use and abuse you've given your car? Any issues or does it still feel just as solid as the day you got it. I'm just wondering because I just got a 2016 Challenger Hellcat M6 and had 1059 miles when I got it from the dealership. I have just over 1200 miles on it now. Only my weekend car. I'm very anal about my cars and usually buy new, but had to get this used because I can't afford new. I know my car was a demo car for most of 2017, used by a dealer owner for 500 miles. The other 500 miles was by first owner, but they only had it for 4 months. My car appears immaculate inside and after I tested everything out, seems to be brand new with no noticeable abuse, but you never know. Just wondering how it holds up if abused some before I got it and any abuse I may do to it in the future. Was a dream car of mine, but still want to have fun with it too. Thank you! Love your videos!

A "sports car" should be balanced, Designed around handling and speed of all types. 0-60. figure-8. Fast tract times on all kinds. Top speed. Attractive to the eye, aggressive but refined, radiating a sense of elite agility and strength. Unfortunately America has watered down the idea of a sports car to trick people into buying garbage so they can make billions without really trying. If anyone argues I'll point you to Godzilla.
@robertbrody40328 жыл бұрын
The American Mustang GT350 handles great, looks good and is fast. R version is better still. A Hellcat is NOT a sports car. It's a muscle car that just happens to be refined enough to dip into the sports car arena, but it's still just a brutish cruiser with crazy power. And I say this owning a 2016 Hellcat Charger. It's a lot of fun, but not a sports car in any complete sense. Like I said, it's big fun and seriously inexpensive for what you get. For 75K I have a family car that can be a comfortable daily driver...then run the open roads with most any sports car and even back roads are fun. What's not to like? And at the moment America also builds the Tesla, considered to be the best car for any price.

What defines a sports car? Is it a car that makes curves? A lot of small daily drives cars do nice curves, so it can't be only that, it also needs to be sleek, fast, with a lot of hps and a nice noise, the hellcat does all of those, but it doesn't makes curves as well, does it mean it's not sporty? Of course not, the Challenger was made over for muscle car purists, not for track days but to burn asphalt, be loud and give you a nice ride on a highway while listening to your preferred band!

@philtripe8 жыл бұрын
ColoradoHeliNut...in a hellcat? that could help you hook up if you have less hp...also depends on the build...if you are running 12 to 1 cr then 91 wont be enough to prevent pinging...what i do is try a 50 50 blend and see if it pings at all...you want to be just above the ping level...higher octane means slower burn so if you had 150 octane it would still be burning as it left the tailpipe and a 75 octane would be so harsh and violent it would produce less push and more breakage so you want that explosion to occur during the entire power stroke...any longer just goes out the tail pipe...ps, would love to see a video of your ride
