Video was just for fun. It isn't meant to be instructional.

Thank you Tommy! I get so tired of listening to people ramble on non-stop talking without getting to the point. Also, thank you for not dubbing this with electric guitars and rock music. For once, I could watch a video without having to turn the sound off! Also, despite others comments, I think I can figure out what size socket to use. You did great. Thank you

Good man. I thought you were going to put that jack stand under the running board. Doing my first oil change on the new truck. Thanks for the video. Short, simple, and to the point.

Great vid. though to save time, I reset the oil life monitor before popping the hood. I also do filter first as that tends to help with getting all the old oil out

I pretty much do my oil change the same way he did. I much prefer jack stands over ramps which I have but never use because they tend to slide forward on my slick garage floor.
@TommySnyderRobert7 жыл бұрын
Ozzie Alarcon Thanks! Yeah, I also usually rotate my tires when I change the oil too. I was waiting on new lug nuts to come in though, that's why it's not on this video.

What size socket does the oil filter cap take to remove it? 27mm?

I own a 2016 ford f150 2.7l ecoboost and mine didn’t have a oil pan cover to take off before u drain the oil and everyone keeps telling me I need to replace the plug everytime I do oil changes is this true?
@richardhayes06132 жыл бұрын
Should always start let oil pressure go up check for leaks and make sure you have right amount before putting everything back together

Yeah, that jack system seems a bit iffy. Would agree on the ramps for sure. Wonder why ford choose that cover plate design for the back of the engine. I just HATE mine on the 2013 Escape - what a pain in the ass job having to take that thing off ever time an oil change is needed.
@TommySnyderRobert7 жыл бұрын
Ross in Ontario What is iffy about it? 2.5 ton Jack and the the stands are rated for 3k lbs each. And yes, the heat shield on the bottom is a huge pain.
@packratswhatif.39907 жыл бұрын
Tommy Snyder .... Well, what I meant by that is that it looks like the jacks could slip or move off the frame easily. I myself would feel better with some ramps with a vehicle of that size. With the F150 frame, could you drain the oil without jacking this beast up ? It seems pretty high off the ground to begin with.
@dangunn69614 жыл бұрын
I don't take mine all the way off. I just remove 3 bolts and loosen the 4th one, and swing the cover out of the way. When I'm done I just swing the cover back into place, holes are lined up, no problemo.

Geeze if it weren't for the dust/splash cover, anybody thin enough can certainly crawl under there with their bare hands or a basic pliers and remove your drain plug (since it is plastic) as a prank. I'd hate to have that plug on my Toyota. Anybody can crawl under any truck but try n guess what size socket to use (6point, 12point, Torx, Metric or Standard) and the how tight it maybe is WAYYYYYY more secure than a plastic plug.

Don't cut the old o rings. save them for when you lose the others. Those rings are good for 100k miles++
@AnontheGOAT6 жыл бұрын
I just crawl under my truck and change it as is. No ramps or stands required.

Dude, get you some ramps! :-> And a closeup of loosening the yellow plug would have helped, and you could have told us what size the wrench was to get the oil filter cap off as well.
@TommySnyderRobert7 жыл бұрын
Greg Hale This wasn't meant to be an instructional video. And you pretty much just grab and twist the yellow cap counter clockwise. Past two times I've done I got oil every where so I didn't wanna get my camera anywhere near the line of fire trying to get a close up.

its a 27ML socket for the filter, & the pan plug just turns a bit. Personally wondering how often I should replace that pan plug and or O ring so it doesn't leak

@@darink5970 mine lasted 5 years and 70k + miles before starting to slightly seep a little oil.

@@billymc2681 cool. I've changed mine 3 times in 75,000 miles. Once was due to breaking it. It's really a crappy cheap design.
