I think they're supposed to go on the trim around the window not on the paint. By the look of that front piece that goes behind the window trim thats what it looks like to me.

You screwed this up badly unfortunately... Should have loosened up the mirror behind the access panel and then slide in the front shade tab under the mirror all the way up to the indent... Then move up the window towards the rear pulling the tape as you go...
@GearTubeTV5 жыл бұрын
Well if I did then maybe they should send some instructions? Personally I don't think I screwed it up "that bad" because they fit perfect from front to back, and they are still on there just fine after wind, snow, rain, hail, ice, car washes, pressure washer, ice scraper, and 100+ mph. All in all I think I did just fine for not having any instructions.

You did that wrong yeah that piece was supposed to go under the moulding

I'm curious to know whether that front tab on the front door visors interfered with the window up and down? You showed the installation but you didn't show it functioning with the window.
@GearTubeTV6 жыл бұрын
Hi Frank! The tab at the front does not interfere with window operation. The auto up / auto down feature works flawlessly. Thanks for your message and if there's anything else I can help you with or answer for you just let me know!

Did you get any whistling from these , my old one created a lot of noise I’m curious how these slim ones are for my 17’
@lanedavis71173 жыл бұрын
Okay...so I bought these this week, and I looked at the instructions and installed them. Mine told me to pull the piece back that the mirror is attached to and insert the tab on the visor behind it.. but that’s not really my point. I messed up and put it in the wrong place. I know, it sounds stupid. Is there a way I can take them off and put them back on without ruining the “stickiness”?
@lanedavis71173 жыл бұрын
Which I have a 2018 stx but it’s relatively the same
@GearTubeTV3 жыл бұрын
Hi Lane! Sorry for the delay in replying, and maybe you've fixed your issue by now. But, the short answer is yes. Usually a heat gun on a low setting will gum up the sticky tape enough to remove. If you use a heat gun make sure not to focus on one spot too much (keep the heat gun moving across the visor) and use a plastic firm card like an old credit card or driver's license to get under the tape and help pry it away. With that said, it may leave residue on your truck (use GooGone or something similar to remove) and potentially make you unable to reinstall the same visor. Typically, though, when it is a fresh install they can be somewhat forgiving. I hope some of that is able to help you out if you haven't already fixed it.

The vent visor is supposed to go onto the black rubber. Epic fail!
@GearTubeTV4 жыл бұрын
Wrong! Nice try at a "cool" comment though 😂! In all seriousness they are not installed wrong. If they were meant to be applied to the black curved rubber that surrounds the window, they would have been cut with that curve and shaped to fit there. But as you can clearly see they are not rounded off and in fact the AVS letters are where that curve would be for the front windows.
@lanedavis71173 жыл бұрын
@@GearTubeTV yes that’s exactly what I did I put it on the black rubber but I didn’t know if it was correct or not? Either way I still have to move it because it is slightly crooked and it is going to bug me lol

PART NUMBER 894044-J7 (the J7 is where your paint code goes. My truck is magnetic so the paint code is J7). This part number is for the 15-17 crew cabs.

Where did you get your 5.0L label?
@GearTubeTV7 жыл бұрын
Amazon. I also have a Coyote V8 emblem on the tailgate directly below the flex fuel badging. That also came from Amazon. They are surprisingly cheap; however they have been on for over a year, survived a PA winter, and high pressure washes.

where can i get this exact set? cant seem to find any color match options
@GearTubeTV4 жыл бұрын
Follow this link, then once you enter your vehicle information go down on the page and you will see an area for color matched. It appears the color matched are only available for supercrew trucks. If you have a supercrew, then in the drop down box select the submodel (supercrew will be the only option) and then below that is another drop down box to select the color. If you have any issues let me know.

The vent guards are suppose to be on the black rubber trim not the paint
@GearTubeTV4 жыл бұрын
Actually that is incorrect. If you look at these low profile ones, they have to go on the paint. If they do not go onto the paint, they will not fit. Look at where the B pillar is (where the front door closes and rear door hinges) and you'll see if they went on the black rubber trim they would never match up. I'm sure there may be other models or makes of the vent visors that may go on the rubber. But thank you for bringing that up.

how is it holding up?
@GearTubeTV5 жыл бұрын
They are doing great! I was a little worried about how the front lip has to go behind the black plastic molding piece where the side mirror mounts to the truck; but, no issues at all! The truck has been through downpours, snow, ice, brutal sun, 100'ish mph, etc and no sign of them loosening or wanting to come off. Overall I am definitely super pleased with them and I would say it was a great decision going with the low profile ones.
@shawn22965 жыл бұрын
GearTube TV great. Because of the tape i was reluctant to even consider this. glad to know it holds up well. You should do a small following vid in day light showing how it is held up.

Great video man!! So did you like the fitment of that front corner on the drivers side better? did you start it differently?
@GearTubeTV7 жыл бұрын
Hey man thanks! As far as the driver's side - yes, I started it differently and it seemed to fit a lot better in the front corner. The key was making sure that little lip on the visor was under the weather trim. As far as the joint at the front and rear doors, it is a good fit but I think it looks a little different because of that front corner on the passenger side not being installed correctly from the start. Overall I still favor the low profile over standard vent visors and way more than the in channel ones that cause a lot of people problems. Thanks for stopping by and checking out the video!

Your seriously out of breath doing this???
@GearTubeTV5 жыл бұрын
Hey Scott, thanks for your question and obvious concern. It's called apneustic breathing and is actually a psychological thing where my concentration on a task is so great that it overrides the physiological process of breathing until the brewer reflex forces me to exhale which often sounds like a rush of air or even a grunt. It's basically breath holding. There are ways to learn to stop doing it, but I'm getting close to 40 years old so at this point does it really matter for me - nah. So technically I am not out of breath; however, apneustic breathing can lead to being out of breath much quicker just because the body wants/needs more oxygen. Hope that answers your question!

Exactly for crew cab not for super cab. Doesn’t give me option to pick supercab just crew cab
@GearTubeTV6 жыл бұрын
Ah you're right, I was overlooking it because my truck is supercrew. My fault for not reading clearly. You're right, you can't get low profile from AVS for a supercab. You can only get the standard in channel or taped ones that don't go in the channel. Sorry about that. There may be some manufacturer out there with something similar or maybe you can contact Lund and bug them about making it for the supercab.
@ChrisWaldron136 жыл бұрын
I just got these for my super crew. Had a hard time figuring out the fitment so i reached out to Lund. They said it is supposed to be installed to the black window trim and not the paint, which makes a big difference in how they go on and look. I am going to tape them down first to see how it looks and fits before i put them on.
@GearTubeTV6 жыл бұрын
Hey Chris let me know how it goes. When I did a test fit I found that mine would not fit if they were to be attached to the black window trim. Unless they released a different "version" if you look closely you'll notice that if they were to be attached to the black trim, they wouldn't fit in the middle where the front and rear doors split.
