Well, i bought my 2018 HRV new, it is now 2021. Last winter we had huge amounts of snow in my area. My HRV did much better than i had expected. I was able to go any place i wanted to when most other vehicles were stranded in their driveways or on the side if the roads. No regrets on getting my HRV, also still getting 30 mpg. Just a little update.

I got this car 2 months ago, HR-V Ex (no nav) & love it! Since I live in snow country, AWD helps a lot too. I was looking at Mazda CX-5 but I could buy HR-V brand new for the price of used CX-5 & very happy with my purchase.

For the brake hold you dont actually have to press it every time you come to a stop, you just have to leave it on and it will engage when you stop and disengage as soon as you hit the gas pedal!

I wish there was a "rallie" version of this car, with the 300 HP turbo-4 from the civic type R and a proper 6 speed manual. With all wheel drive and less weight, it should be faster in a straight line than the Civic, and maybe as quick in less than ideal roads. Dream car material.

The two-wheel-drive (FWD) HR-V has more ground clearance than the AWD. Disengaging the traction control helps offroad, but make no mistake, this Honda HR-V AWD is an ON-road vehicle.

Only had my new HRV for a few weeks, but so far I like it. The engine with cvt has plenty of power for me. It seems very solid built, very quiet inside while driving. Looking forward to see how it does on snow covered roads in the rural area I live in. Cargo space is amazing. What is not to like?

car engineers have to explain why they keep putting the automatic shifter on the floor. use the dashboard or steering column for the shifter. create more space in a tiny vehicle.

Hey Jason! I own the Japanese varient of this car called the Honda Vezel. My car has a 1.5l engine coupled to a 7 speed DCT and a Hybrid Electric motor. I don't know if it's available in the USA but it has some good acceleration compared to what you've experienced here partly due to the electric motor which manages to push you back to your seat. Try and see if you can find a Hybrid HR-V and see if you can do a review. Cheers mate! :)

The First Gen CR-V was SLOW, and can you say it is the same SLOW as the First Gen? When you say Clearance you are saying 8.0 inch or 8.1 inch. It is not a 4x4. When you Went from 40 to a dead stop ABS skipped skidded sounded like it was skipping. When you went Off road is it just like the CRV. And to me this is such a under sized engine but yet a excellent economy car. Power is not everything

cjk247 the brought this outdated Japanese Vezel to the America as HRV. Horrible choice as the 1.8 previous Civic motor lacks of power. But Honda always play their games, I believe they will eventually put 1.5 turbo at the end of this first gen HRV to boost sales.

No offense but should you have take the clearance height into consideration when deciding to test this off road. I would never use this vehicle off road and if I lived in an area where I had to, then I would get a vehicle with the clearance height of the Outlander Sport or a vehicle that is as high or higher.

I'm really disappointed in Honda. As a long-time owner (1st Civic, Accords, Fit), I've admired their classic 'Germanic' styling. In recent years their styling is deteriorating into arbitrary swoops, creases and useless gimgaws. Gone are the simple, clean lines. Gone is the consistent inside/outside look. Ironic that their vehicles look more Korean while Korean cars are looking more Japanese. Soichiro Honda would spin in his grave to see this evolution to Form over Function!

If you want to play the radio without running the motor, press the start button once without pressing the brake. The motor wont start unless the brake pedal is pushed in. Pressing the start button twice will activate all the electronics that are available as if the motor is running. Pressing the start button again will turn everything off. I hold in the brake pedal, tap the start button and put on my seat belt while the motor is starting, no need to hold the start button in.
