Well, i bought my 2018 HRV new, it is now 2021. Last winter we had huge amounts of snow in my area. My HRV did much better than i had expected. I was able to go any place i wanted to when most other vehicles were stranded in their driveways or on the side if the roads. No regrets on getting my HRV, also still getting 30 mpg. Just a little update.

I got this car 2 months ago, HR-V Ex (no nav) & love it! Since I live in snow country, AWD helps a lot too. I was looking at Mazda CX-5 but I could buy HR-V brand new for the price of used CX-5 & very happy with my purchase.

I wish there was a "rallie" version of this car, with the 300 HP turbo-4 from the civic type R and a proper 6 speed manual. With all wheel drive and less weight, it should be faster in a straight line than the Civic, and maybe as quick in less than ideal roads. Dream car material.

Only had my new HRV for a few weeks, but so far I like it. The engine with cvt has plenty of power for me. It seems very solid built, very quiet inside while driving. Looking forward to see how it does on snow covered roads in the rural area I live in. Cargo space is amazing. What is not to like?

Hey Jason! I own the Japanese varient of this car called the Honda Vezel. My car has a 1.5l engine coupled to a 7 speed DCT and a Hybrid Electric motor. I don't know if it's available in the USA but it has some good acceleration compared to what you've experienced here partly due to the electric motor which manages to push you back to your seat. Try and see if you can find a Hybrid HR-V and see if you can do a review. Cheers mate! :)

When you Went from 40 to a dead stop ABS skipped skidded sounded like it was skipping. When you went Off road is it just like the CRV. And to me this is such a under sized engine but yet a excellent economy car. Power is not everything

I'm really disappointed in Honda. As a long-time owner (1st Civic, Accords, Fit), I've admired their classic 'Germanic' styling. In recent years their styling is deteriorating into arbitrary swoops, creases and useless gimgaws. Gone are the simple, clean lines. Gone is the consistent inside/outside look. Ironic that their vehicles look more Korean while Korean cars are looking more Japanese. Soichiro Honda would spin in his grave to see this evolution to Form over Function!

If you want to play the radio without running the motor, press the start button once without pressing the brake. The motor wont start unless the brake pedal is pushed in. Pressing the start button twice will activate all the electronics that are available as if the motor is running. Pressing the start button again will turn everything off. I hold in the brake pedal, tap the start button and put on my seat belt while the motor is starting, no need to hold the start button in.
