2016 Mazda CX-5 UNBOXING Review

Today's unboxing review is one of our favorite crossovers on the market today, the 2016 Mazda CX-5. We've been a fan of it ever since it went on sale for 2013 and Mazda has recently given it an update before the next generation model arrives. What does the CX-5 have going for it other crossovers don't? The fun factor. For example, the base transmission here is a six-speed manual. And for those who don't want to row their own gears, a six-speed automatic is optional, as is all-wheel drive, both of which can be had on any of the three trim levels.
Crossovers, at their very nature, are designed to be suburban people haulers, essentially replacements for the station wagon and those who find minivans to be dorky. Classified as a compact crossover, the CX-5, though not extremely luxurious, can be thought of as the poor man's BMW X3 or Audi Q5. There isn't much it doesn't do well. The CX-5 is a great balance of utility, space, efficiency and great driving dynamics. And yes, it's more fun to drive than its direct competitors, namely the Ford Escape. Enjoy the review!

I've already done my homework and extensively researched reviews and comments on other competitive models and test drove Kia and Hyundai but I keep coming back to the CX-5. My search is over...I finally am in the driver's seat of a 2016.5 CX-5 GT/AWD. Black Friday paid off and I was able to strike a very good leasing deal with the local Mazda dealership. So far the car is a dream loaded with all kinds of features that I wasn't even aware of. Was holding out for the 2017 model, due sometime next year, but the deal was too sweet to pass up, Now a bigger Mazda fan than ever.

We have the cx5 gt for the wife and I have the mazda3 sGT for myself. We love mazdas. I remember my old 323 familia. Damn they imporved a lot and they're not boring unlike their japanese couterpats. Drives like a european car with a japanese brand and quality. Mazda forever!

I just got a new 2016.5 CX-5 Grand Touring, and I'm very impressed with the ride quality, build quality, and the interior finishes. I have the Titanium Flash Mica color, and it looks fantastic. With Mazda's redesigned CX-9 and this CX-5, (and CX-3 as well), Mazda is really upping the ante with crossovers.

Yeah, Mazda is on a roll with its CUVs and sedans....and roadsters. Basically, Mazda is winning with its entire lineup. Very impressive. Enjoy the new CX-5!

Now, let me add my 2 cents. We bought a used 2016.5 CX-5 Grand Touring. My other car is a used 2010 Mercedes SLK350. Now I love how comfortable the Benz is and being able to drive top down but the CX-5 actually handles better and is more crisp and fun to drive. Sport gives you all the umph that you need. Now my complaints about the CX-5 is no power seat for the passenger, memory for more than one driver is optional and should be standard and no heat for the rear seats. The driver's seat should have a bit more range as should the adjustable reach of the steering wheel. Now, my Wife drives a 2016 MX-5 and we've had three other MX-5s and a B-2000. Mazda makes great cars.

Great car, Keep away from any front wheel drive vehicle. The AWD model is the way to go, for better overall handling that = safer, in any weather conditions.

Yes you are right this is poor man's Bimmer, I love Mazda car specially the latest model from Mazda 2 to CX-9 the design and build quality is the best Japanese made car and very sporty too.
