Man, I beat my heroin addiction and now I have a ram 2500, can’t wait to get mine done like this maybe just on 35s, -37s, just lost my job from my dad tho cuz he can’t handle my new way of life and how I have to maintain my sobriety, long story. But seeing this build and this funny guy inspires me. I’ll get there someday. God bless and amazing build! I would be happy with Torsen limited slips or Eaton limited slips front and rear and 4.10s, heck I wanna just go find some power wagon axles and bolt em in. I’ve heard when not locked they operate as torsen limited slips anyway. Wow, it’s fun to dream. Gotta get a job first. Goals.

I've been diggin on all the Gladiator overland builds on KZbin but then I got curious and Googled the dimensions on Gladiators and also on my 2013 Ram diesel quad cab short bed. Turns out my truck is only 11 inches longer than a Gladiator and only FIVE inches wider. Plus it ALREADY has huge axles and a big powerful motor and is WAY closer to being paid for than any new vehicle could even think about being so some AEV mods for my truck seem like a hell of a lot better investment. And I love the hell out of your videos!

@DieselPowerProducts
@DieselPowerProducts 7 жыл бұрын
deejay540000 we understand that concern. We have also put many many miles on that set up to include beadlocks and even a 38’ trailer with 2 rigs across the country. We haven’t experienced any issues. If you were wanting some more load range however the 40x15.50r20 is I believe load range D and towing is better with them since there is less sidewall flex. I can assure you if you aren’t towing there is zero worry about the 40x13.50r17.

Editing for this video was ON point! While you do not put meats like that on a truck for economy, I would love to know what kind of economy you are getting with the gears putting it back in its normal powerband and a minor lift for massive tires.

Actually does better than you'd think. On a trip from Spokane to Billing, MT it got around 15MPG... with an average cruising speed of 75-85. Not bad for 40's, and ZERO engine mods.

Cooper , what about fitting a disconnect sway bar form the Power Wagon ? Can it be done , do you have a kit for this ?
@DieselPowerProducts
@DieselPowerProducts 7 жыл бұрын
Alain Brouillette that is a good question we have wanted to find out as well. There is a company that make an air actuator for the power wagon sway bar that will allow you to remove a large portion of what would interfere with anything else underneath the truck. We haven’t found a power wagon sway bar to test it however. And on the other side radius arm set ups don’t articulate very well anyway in comparison to a 4 link so there isn’t much difference in handling with or without the sway bar in place. We remove them typically.
@alainbrouillette7740
@alainbrouillette7740 7 жыл бұрын
I wonder if a typical Power Wagon electronic disconnect front sway bar would fit a diesel 2500 , or a 3500 , taking into consideration the weight diff. on the front axle , mounting point , etc ? How does it ride on the highway without a sway bar ? I am building up a 3500 with the AEV 40 Inches kit , i had spoken to them about this , they could not really give me a positive answer as if it would fit or not . They said just leave it in there .
@DieselPowerProducts
@DieselPowerProducts 7 жыл бұрын
Alain Brouillette it will fit the mounting locations I just don’t know if it will clear the charge air cooler on the diesel. As for the electronics I wouldn’t mess with them I would run the air actuator. It handles awesome without it.

Really trying to figure out most economical way to build my expedition based ram, buying a used 2010 powerwagon gets me gears, front and rear lockers 4:1 Tcase , had components elec away bar disconnect, winch etc , my only issue is I am adding a 4 season camper for year round living in any climate and WILL be using it on off-road trails in Moab etc, so seems like the AEV conversion of suspension, 40's, fender cutouts etc makes the most sense. My biggest back and fourth issue I'd love your opinion on is being that I will be carrying a 4 season expedition truck camper I'd REALLY like the cummins, power and efficiency as well as reliability of a diesel seems like a no brainer for the use I'll be giving it. The problem is obviously dodge REFUSES to build the power wagon with the cummins????? Makes no sense to me. I want a powerwagon with the cummins and AEV conversion. YOU have done exactly this, your build with ARB airlockers AEV conversion , winch , 40's is exactly what I need. Question is is it worth it for what I need? Would a powerwagon gas with AEV upgrades be sufficient for the off-road 4 season expedition camping I'll be doing which also bytheway will be a LOT of highway miles as well. OR do I find a 2010 ram cummins do AEV prospector conversion, add ARB airlockers front and rear and gears , winch and call it good. Seems like for my use highway and heavy off-road use with a camper , the diesel /ARB setup makes most sense, BUT cost wise , is a used 2010 powerwagon going to make enough sense to offset the reliability and economy of a diesel? I need to spec out both ways and see what the cost difference is but would seem if they are similar that the diesel /ARB route would make most sense. Could I trouble you for a moment with your opinion? YOUR truck is EXACTLY what I need and want, what are your thoughts on my predicament? Let me add , I am going through a divorce, I'm 40 years old , my wife and I have severe health problems(as well as we are NOT rich so this is NOT a budgetless project, it will be my home) so she is moving to Arizona with my 18 month old daughter (I live jsut north of Moab Utah) my thought is this is the best way for me to be able to see my daughter regularly , 1000 miles away in Arizona , I won't need to bother with car rental, hotel , airfare etc etc etc , a few times a month while paying a mortgage and auto loan , utilities etc etc ,...in the long run it will be cheaper and be my full time residence and my office so may be able to write off a lot of it as a business expense etc (I'm an architect) may seem rediculous but to be a part of my daughters life it makes most sense, why pay $1500 a month in a Mortage of a home I don't want or need when I can build and live in something and stay in beautiful places and when I have time drive to Arizona for a week and take my daughter expedition camping or stay near her place to see dance recitals etc. All seems crazy I'm sure but jsut seems to make the most sense any way I look at it. Bytheway, I'm going 4 season expedition camper becaue they are good in arctic cold conditions all the way up to Saharah desert heat , they are 100% self sufficient with solar and water filtration as well as can play off the diesel if I go that route for different types of advantages . The camper option I can also detach and explore , run errands In the truck leaving a camp wherever needed. I am also toying with the idea of a winch used motorcycle lift off the back, it's common for expedition campers , I could then trade in my 2017 Yamaha fz10 supernaked sport tour for a 2015 KTM sueprduke 1290 Adventure R. A world class dual sport expedition bike with panniers , I could use this a lot of the time for errands exploring etc leaving base camp anywhere. These campers also have full hookups for campgrounds etc . I figure I can build (or have built) this type of set up won bike camper and donor vehicle for a heck of a lot less than a home mortgage and car payment combined, and can be financed like an RV on potentially a 30 year loan making he payment for my vehicle, camper and bike combined in one loan and half my mortgage payment now. May be crazy and after a year may scrap the idea , sell and buy a home like everyone Else, but who knows , maybe I'll keep it 10 years or maybe I'll sell and upgrade to a Unimog expedition vehicle, much larger but has locking diffs, full diesel hydrolics, CTIS, and a much larger camper. These start at $200,000 new turn key. My build will be nearly half that but obviously not quiet as cook but more efficient if I go diesel ram. I'm sorry to take so much of your time and anyone reading this with positive input I'd love to hear your thoughts but as a company that has built what Dodge SHOULD be doing with the powerwagon I'd really LOvE and kill to hear your thoughts on this build , powerwagon verses dodge diesel AEV conversion in regards to cost, efficiency, off road capability , in reference to carrying a expedion camper and full time living off roaring and highway use? Jsut trying to make a decision and start the process! 👍🙂

How would your diesel 2500 compare off road to a Power Wagon.
@DieselPowerProducts
@DieselPowerProducts 8 жыл бұрын
Aside from the diesel powered truck being slightly heavier, which is accounted for in the lift and suspension, there would be no difference. You would however see more bottom end power and torque with the diesel.
@Misnjef
@Misnjef 7 жыл бұрын
Alroy H I'd say the Power Wagon stock suspension is more suited for off roading than a standard 2500 suspension with a 3" leveling kit. The Power Wagon would have much better articulation especially with the disconnecting front sway bar.

Makes sense if you are okay with regular petrol. Still needs a lift and fender flares to fit those 40s, though.

Great video but did you put a lift on the truck? . And what about improved braking? . Also what's the largest tires you can put on a stock 2500? . I hear it's 35 ×12.5?
@DieselPowerProducts
@DieselPowerProducts 8 жыл бұрын
Largest tire on a stock height 4th gen 2500 truck will be 35x12.50. You may need to trim a slight bit on the lower valance, but not hard to accomplish.
