@@moosemobileautorepair so I did call vw, they said they normal don’t replace oil drain plug, but repair the gasket. Also those two other o rings in the oil filter prong, the said they normally don’t replace as well 🤷 per the parts guy haha so who knows. Also mine is 16 vw Jetta sport. Think this video still applies from what I’ve researched
@moosemobileautorepairАй бұрын
@Kickboxingenthusiasts That's right. But ideally all of those should be replaced every oil change.

@@moosemobileautorepair the last person who put on tightened too much or it was already partially stripped 😢 tried hammering t45 in but doesn’t appear to be working. Think imma have to take to a shop
@moosemobileautorepair23 күн бұрын
If the drain plug is badly damaged and rounded out on the torx you can try hammering a socket to go over it or you can use a flat chisel and make a line on the edge and try to hammer on that carefully to loosen it up. You will need a new drain plug of course and hopefully the threads are still OK after you get the old one out. Good luck.

What filter did you use??
@moosemobileautorepair Жыл бұрын
I used the Pro Series oil filter here in Canada from Part Source. I believe it is rebranded and originally made by Champion Labs.

Castrol edge 5w30 from 5w40 my states is really hot what you recommend to used
@moosemobileautorepair Жыл бұрын
5W40 works better for hotter climates. Only 5W30 or 5W40 should be used in these VW engines.
@johnnydiaz8739 Жыл бұрын
@@moosemobileautorepair I was using 5w40 but recently I my last oils change I put 5w30 Castrol should I go back with 5w40 I have a 2014 Jetta SE 1.8 turbo with 166,765 miles on it ever 5k I do the oil change
@moosemobileautorepair Жыл бұрын
Yes. You should go back to using 5W40. Make sure that oil has the VW specifications on the back of the jug 502/505. With these engines if you want to keep these vehicles for a long time I'd also change the oil a lot sooner than 5 k miles due to them having a turbocharger and gasoline direct injection.

What size is the replacement o ring?
@moosemobileautorepair Жыл бұрын
There is no specific size or number for the o-rings. You probably have to go to the dealership to get the replacement o-rings for the small ones that are on the canister for the filter. I'll see if I can find the part numbers though and post it here.
