I made the ultimate escape video and I thought it included up to 2019. When I ran into this 2017 I had to make a video. It really is not that much harder now that I know what to expect. I hope this video helps you and I hope you don't have to cuss as much as I did. Editing this video helped me to take a step back and look at myself. I hope you enjoy this video and I hope it is helpful. Remember it could always be worse.

Great video. It save me money and was a pain to do. The biggest issue I ran into were removing the torque converter nuts. I removed the starter and it made it simplier for me. Dylan you are either double jointed or a contortionist to get to those. I used a Quickjack in my gagare. The police want me to lower the car and put my tires on at the end of the night or when I'm done for the day because they said school kids could get underneath. Im concerned about the engine jack support. Will lowering the car on one side a little and the other side and then the engine support in that order going to break something? My transmission symptoms on a 2017 escape 2wd eco boost. The car jerked hard a couple of times and hesitation to no forward motion all in the span of 5 minutes. I immediately parked it. Ihear a whinning sound when in neutral and when i give it gas whinning also revs up. I towed it 6 hours later. I then was surprised to find that it moved fine in the cold when i repostioned my car in the driveway. Been in my driveway since november. Can't even afford a reman. So i am rebuilding it. I bought a master kit with pistons that's in the mail. I bought a tech trans book. I by the grace of God have your videos. I been doing so much research. Can you tell me if i also have to replace these items as well please? Filter, bushing kit, sonax rebuild kit ( which i can't seem to find to buy) or a valve body, 3-5-R cushion plate, and pumps. This is what was suggested at a Minimum to buy.

So when we go through these the things we make sure to change or do are as follows. Stator rings (make sure to resize and try tot to clip) check for broken lug in case for the giant snap ring. Rebuild the drum, all Pistons in the drum and new O-rings. New case piston. Drill shinie valve in valve body half. (Prob the kit you need) new clutches and replace burnt steels. We normally don’t mess with the center support pistons because they are normally OK.

Here goes another pro tip: If those two exhaust bracket studs don't come off using the "two-nut" method that was shown in this video due to the studs being really rusted, here goes a second method...... 1) Use Wd-40, PB Blaster, or whatever rust penetrant that works for you. 2) Use a propane torch, not the heavy duty Acetylene/Oxygen tank unless you're an expert on using that. Torch the backside of the studs. They will be sticking out a bit. Be careful not to keep the torch on for too long. Perhaps 10 to 15 seconds at a time. 4) Spray your rust penetrant once again on the studs, including the backside of the studs. 5) Get your best vice grip, tighten on the threads of the studs, and start turning counterclockwise. Be sure the vice grip is on VERY TIGHT! 6) Repeat the process until the studs start to turn clockwise. Once you're able to get the studs to turn, rotate between turning counterclockwise and clockwise while spraying your rust penetrant. You'll see rust dripping. YES, you'll have to get either new original studs from the dealer or match those studs up for bolts at your local parts supply store.

I’d imagine you have the starter that sticks on to the bell as opposed to on the outside. This part is probably the hardest part. I just make sure the converter is fully seated in pump. Kind of line up before raising transmission and feel with your left hand while using pry bar against frame to pry bells together. Making sure the dowels are close should help. If you can’t feel stud coming through fly wheel slightly separate and try to better align with a forked pry tool. I’ve gotten pretty good over the years. I'm trying to put mine back in but whats the trick for lining up the torque converter bolts with the flywheel. I got so dam close but it wouldn't mate together.

I hold my left hand up in the torque converter and use a large pry bar to mate when I feel the stud. It’s not easy.

@16:44, can you drop the pan to get access to the torque converter bolts?

Nope unfortunately not! Through the starter is the only way! Thanks for the comment!

The oil pan yes. I am currently doing it on ‘17 titanium trim 1.5 turbo and that’s how I got to the torque converter nuts. Easy access but make sure you have some ultra black on hand to replace pan gasket.

@@doingstuffwithdylan4367 @26:26, you can clearly see the plastic engine cover reads “1.5L Ecoboost.” Where would I be able to find torque specs for all critical fasteners that require a certain spec or require thread locker? Are any of the fasteners one time use only/torque to yield fasteners?

@@cm1133 the torque converter nuts are the most vital but I don’t torque I make them good and tight! Any specifications would be in a service manual.

To the newbies doing this in your driveway. Chalk your tires. Got to a housing bolt i been fighting and accidently knocked the shifter into neutral. Had to kick a rock under tire while holding onto car. 🤦

These are gravy. Pull subframe in 15 minutes and the trans comes right out. Complete nightmare with subframe installed. Have done hundreds. Pull the wiper cowl and all that stuff you are battling on top comes right out also. Wiper cowl off in 5 minutes. SMH

Make a video I’d love to see you do all that in under an hour. I don’t fight them at all so why remove all that extra stuff. Just my opinion. Show us how to do it the hard way I’ve only done 48.
