Yul Moldauer is a superb talent and in no doubt will be the new star for the US men, but I hate the way Tim Daggett is hyping him up in this first senior international unnecessarily! He hypes the US men up all the time, then when it really counts they don't deliver.
@agators2127 жыл бұрын
true, they do have talent but have yet to put it all together at the Olympics since '08 when they were so clearly the underdogs. but there is something about yul that does scream special, more so than when mikulak first came on the scene. but like every amazing junior that pops up I just want to protect them from injury and burn out and hope for success.
@illyriaburkle60037 жыл бұрын
I adore Yul's gymnastics. Really clean, gorgeous, and consistent. But you're totally right that Tim needs to stop unnecessarily hyping him up. Like Tim was saying that Sam Mikulak could challenge Kohei and possibly win the all around when that just isn't realistic. Like at best if Sam hit 6 for 6 (which basically never happens) he could have maybe challenged Max Whitlock for bronze.
@liukin957 жыл бұрын
Yes exactly! Anybody could have challenged Whitlock for the bronze whereas Kohei and Oleg were heads and shoulders above the rest of the field. I hope Yul has a bright future because the US men really do need it, I just fear that he could end up in the same net as the rest of the US team, not delivering when it counts most. And part of that problem is poor coaching.
@adamtravis93807 жыл бұрын
I mean Yul did just beat Oleg though. That's a big deal

I think this needs to be said: Nastia is a very good commentator and she deserves all the credit for it!!!
@GemGoddess17 жыл бұрын
Yes! There was so much heavy criticism when she first started, but I think the skill required for this level as a commentator goes unrecognized. It's watching everything, critiquing everything in your head and choosing exactly what to comment on and how to word it, keeping the pace of the commentary consistent and flowing appropriately with the competition, minimizing dead air except during choice points in routines, making sure you're correct technically in everything you say, making sure that every word is acceptable to gymnastics governing bodies in the US and internationally, controlling your breathing, controlling you speaking speed and tone, the pressure from being watched and heard by millions, all recorded, all for hours on end. It's mentally and physically taxing, and it takes time to learn to do it well. People fuss about Tim needing to retire, and while I like him fine (except he needs to remember that "heighTH" is not a word), they cannot switch out everybody at once. Nastia needed a few years to get solid before anybody could consider Tim's retirement. I'd like to see Jonathan Horton take over for Tim eventually -- the commentating of his that I've seen is quite good. I'm ready for someone new to replace Al Trautwig, but again, it can't all be done at once. It would be like an entire sports team of rookies.
@rockymcduffie86037 жыл бұрын
There is definitely an improvement in Nastias commentary since 2015. Noticed it at the Olympics and noticed during this broadcast, a lot more confidence in her voice and input.

Why do they keep changing the scoring system I just started to understand the old one
@2134knees7 жыл бұрын
Because of the Code of Points. It has ALWAYS been like that. Even when it was the 10.0 system, they constantly needed to be upgraded and changed. The first year post-Olympics in the new Olympic Cycle with a new Code of Points, is always the most underscored.
@trinibwoy277 жыл бұрын

Great competition. But little drawback that I want to point out. It's still very early to determine how competitive the women will be since Martha Karyoli has retired as the headcoach for the USA Team and Simon Biles isn't going to be competing in the next olympics and the new code of points. It sounds a little confusing at this point. Overall, it was great turnout for this competition. See you this coming summer.................

I just know that she's is willing to give one last shot before retiring. The rules of competition are getting harder and harder every 4 years.
