Keith! Great to hear from you! It is pretty loud at idle. When I start it up in my driveway, it blows the CBR exhaust sound away. It does get hot, but I have recently purchased a heat shield kit that will hopefully reduce the heat! I have more "mod" vids to upload this week!

I Purchased ,in December, a new 2017 1299 S had it delivered from Kansas City M.O. in January . Wanted the last L twin.ALSO added 6 year warranty 0 deductible because of the electronics. The only Exhaust that would not void the warranty was the Acrapovic full race titanium system. Includes low restriction air filter map sensor and computer program. Was told 8% increase in H.P. and torque. comfort seat as well added. ALL dealer installed so no BS on warranty. I up graded from my 2012 H.D XR1200 X,which I still love. Rode over 1,000 miles in 3 weeks !! UNBELIEVABLE bike ! power and handling. Constantly challenged by every performance car and glad to compete. un beaten so far. Launch control, FANTASTIC !! getting rid of the Catalytic cut down on the heat . A work of art , I am a shy person, NOT use too all the attention it draws. I am 170 lbs 5 10, fit on the bike PERFECT. The mirrors are my only complaint, What can I do too improve ? Have no problem in city traffic runs fine. Does not like under 4,000 RPM as you know. The full race exhaust sounds amazing at high RPM'S , YES about 30 M.P.G. filler up every 100 miles, 3- 3.5 gal out of 4.5 gal tank. I live in Greensboro N.C. and ride about 12 K a year . 70 years old , riding and racing since 16 . Be safe guys.

Thanks for your detailed and thorough comment Glenn! I love my 1299 S too! Best performance bike that I have ever ridden! When I ride it in Race mode...it's a freaking BEAST! I l really like the CRG Arrow bar end mirrors that I added to the bike. They make a huge difference in seeing what is behind you compared to the stock ones. Keep riding safe and try to tame that beast my Friend!

My next bike I think. Own a 09 R1 and love the "thumpiness" of that crossplane motor. Love the V-twins as well. Best looking bike ever mate!

Very nice...I have done similar mods to my 1299s. I would recommend do the NRC mirror block offs. Those stock mirrors are crap. As for exhaust, I swapped stock for full Termis and added Rapid Bike Race fuel controller.

Thanks for watching and commenting my Friend! I added CRG Arrow Bar end mirrors since filming this vid, and they make the bike look amazing with the stock mirrors deleted. I added the NRC mirror delete turn signals and it's just too pretty. Now get rid of that broke down Tuono V4 and get a Panigale next! 😉

that tank shape looks really weird/uncomfortable? like compare to the r1,rsv4,bmw seem like that have a perfect place for your legs/knees to grip, were as the 1299s is rounded from side profile anyway, how do you find it?. do you still own it?, im looking at getting one in 2023

Is it much louder than the stock exhaust at all?

Yes! Louder and sounds better (deeper). It actually rumbles your body and I love it. Kind of like an old school muscle car, lol. It was expensive as hell, but I don't regret buying the exhaust. Cheers!

Good review, but how fun can it really be when all of the roads in Florida are straight. Also, how can you test the suspension and say it’s good when you’ve only ridden it in town and not pushed it on a curvy road?

When I compare the suspension, I compare it to my other bikes. It feels softer when I hit bumps in the road, etc. There are a few curves here in FL, and soon I will put those to the test. I made this review soon after I purchased the bike. I plan on filming another review in a couple months.

I sold it for a V4 Speciale earlier this year, but I can tell you the 1299 was an amazing bike. I never had an issue while I owned it. Just be aware it gets HOT while riding. Cheers!

Any issues with it? Any electronic issues? How is it with a passenger?

I have not experienced any issues so far. I have never had a passenger on the bike, so I can't help ya there. I actually took the passenger pegs off. The only "issue" the bike has is the tremendous heat it produces.

Jeff, I know right?!?!?!? It was an amazing deal that fell into my lap that I could not pass up! The guy traded it in right after he had the Akra exhaust installed too! Of course he traded it in for a V4S, but I think it's crazy. I almost want to find out who he is so I can thank him, lol. Cheers!

maaaaaaate, i bought a fireblade, the 09 model, but still XD. and ducatis i don't like because of the dry clutch sound but otherwise the bike looks really nice, and expensive :D

The 2017 Ducati 1299 panigale has a wet clutch as do pretty much any of the new Ducatis

Strange! I will defiantly look into that. Maybe it was a service update to the ECU or something.

I actually traded in my 14' S1000RR for my 1299s. I loved that S1K, but it was totally worth it! Unfortunately there is NO twisties here in Florida. I do get some speed on the interstates though. Ride safe my friend!
