Yea, the one thing I don't know, what was the standing of ' performance equalizing' when the new GT was being designed - I think they over emphasized aero , and the new car can't keep up coming out of corners and even the Leman straight isn't long enough to make that up. see Porsche's constantly pulling away out of corners. Insurance, speed limits is the obvious ' real' answer, nobody's gonna be flying into the stands anymore. example, B.Ellliott holds qualifying record a Daytona, way back in mid 80's.

You have to remember Ford built this car as a racer - first and foremost! The exhaust sound has nothing to do with its performance. The 2017-2019 GTs will smoke the '05 and '06 GT in every aspect of performance driving! Don't get me wrong, I love the '05 and '06 design and sound, but the fact is the '17 to '19 GT is much more of a machine with a higher level of technology built into it. Sorry, but don't feed people that crap of "well the V6 is better for aerodynamics, weight, blah blah blah" - Ford disrespected the legacy of the Ford GT and decided to use the iconic moniker as a plug for Ecoboost. That is the ONLY reason this car has an Ecoboost motor in it. Fuel economy numbers have already shown that this engine is far less efficient than a GM small block. In fact, the Ford GT's Ecoboost gets the same fuel economy as Dodge's V10 Viper engine. Additionally, the Viper and Corvette produce far more torque than the Ford GT. The car could have, and SHOULD have, had a supercharged, turbo, or even N/A V8. The engine also poses NO weight savings over a V8. The 3.5l V6 Ecoboost comes in at 449 pounds dry weight, compared to the LS3/LT4's weight of ~415 pounds. There is NO reason other than Ecoboost advertisement to put that engine into this car. I have no problem with turbo charged V6 engines. My truck has a 3.5L ecoboost in it, and it's amazing. But this is supposed to be a car that competes with the best of the best, and it sounds like a Dyson vacuum. It lost something with the loss of the V8 engine's growl, and it's an insult to the legacy of the GT nameplate.

Le Mans car first... Street car second... it wasn't backwards engineered.. But just so you know... The C7.R only produces about 500hp

Adeum Deus why is everyone comparing fords ecoboost to a dumb fucking chevy engine? Its rediculous. Thats the third time ive seen that fuck shit. "Oh the GT has an ecoboost? Lets disrespect the greatest car company and the people who hand built every 2017-preasent ford gd by saying we can put a rival companies engine in it." You guys are dickheads. They had thier reason for the v6 and it did its fucking job. Stop being butthurt over the god damn engine.

Sure, a random youtube guy knows way more than a bunch of ford engineers, sure. This car was purpose built to win le mans, which it did. Suck it.
@jacobmyer74816 жыл бұрын
Adeum Deus I love that the 2005 is a supercar with a v8, but in all honesty, the true legacy and purpose of the Ford GT is that it kills and embarrasses Ferrari at LeMans. The new EcoBoost does this. Maybe even moreso than the v8
@that1snare6 жыл бұрын
Hey, sorry to say, man, but numbers and results don't lie. Especially when it's coming from the toughest, longest, and probably most prestigious race in history. The new GT was designed with one thing in mind: win at Le Mans. And that's what they've done. Multiple times. The engineers at Ford made the GT a specific way and they did it very well. Can't argue with that.

If you look at that rear wing, you'll see that it's not flat, it's shaped like an inverted airplane wing, where the top of it is flat while the bottom is curved (an airplane wing is opposite, the top is curved, the bottom is flat) because in that design when it cuts through the air, the flat side gets higher pressure than the curved side since the air molecules have to travel a longer distance over the curve when compared to the flat side so the faster moving air molecules spend less time in contact with the surface so it results in low pressure. Basically exactly how an airplane wing creates lift but just upside down to create downforce.

Corvettes ware racing at Le Mans 5 years prior to Ford 🤦♂️ And the Viper kicked more ass in it's 26 years of existence than almost anything... Love the GT, but belittling cars with far greater lists of accomplishments in comparison (like Corvette especially) is like saying the Broncos are better than the Chiefs now because they won back to back bowl games in '98 and '99...

@@LoserEater303 Should've been $250,000 when it comes to performance vs. Euro exotics! If it had 900+ hp then I could see justifying the $350-$400k pricetag, imo, and having it go up against Porsche 918, LaFerrari, etc.
@Loulovesspeed4 жыл бұрын
@Blake Biggs - Gee, I don't see any La Ferraris on the race track!! The limited production was hardly "artificial". I believe you fail to understand that Ford built this as a race car....first and foremost, not a posh, glitzy street queen like super cars. Just how big a market do you think there is for a $500,000 race car? Actually, the last models to be made are the Ford GT ll, and it carries a $1,200,000 price tag, and they will build only 45 of them.
