Used anything in that segment, you mean. Check the prices on used S class. They fall off a cliff the moment you drive off the dealer's lot. This is not a good segment for value retention.
@bbokdoong8 жыл бұрын
Not really...used S class and 7 series may be relatively cheap, but S class and 7 series are not particularly known for their reliability. And those German cars are significantly more expensive to maintain and repair.
@turnne8 жыл бұрын
a 3 year old S class is still bringing $65-70K Check out what the 2014s are going for I will make the bet that the G90 retains no where close to that type of value after 3 years...and its a far cheaper car which makes it a bit of an unfair comparision

I shopped the S Class and decided on the G90 instead. I couldn’t be more pleased. This vehicle delivers the best ride after the S Class; however, the difference isn’t that much better in the S Class. Plus, I get a truly comfortable ride without air suspension as we all know will eventually go out in a few years. Since I’m not a pretentious person, the Genesis G90 was a no brained for me after comparing the two. Why would I spend $45,000.00 more for an S Class? I have ample room for rear seat passengers along with every option I could want standard. And, I’ve been stopped and asked on numerous occasions what vehicle was I driving. I gives me great joy to tell people that it’s a Genesis G90. Everyone is blown away that Hyundai is producing such quality and good looking vehicles!!! I LOVE my G90. Hands down, it is better than my past Cadillacs.

good review. For a similar price, you can get an LS but i sat in that car and it feels straight out of the 80s. Even the buttons, switches and displays looks very outdated not to mention the exterior is not great. That desperately needs an update in order to get anyone other than lexus fans to consider it. In canada, a 7 series or s class with similar features to the g90 cost around 130 to 150k or about 2x the price so they're not even close. Good job genesis.

Infiniti is very slow at redesigning their cars(eg,Q70,QX50,QX70) and Q80 might as well be in concept hell forever. I just got the new 2018 G90 5.0 RWD before the 2019’s eventually get here. From my understanding, there are no major changes in the ‘19 model year. The G90 feels very German in the way it rides and in the way the doors shut tight with that characteristically German thump. I think it may have to do with all of that high-strength steel that have been incorporated into the frame and body panels. I may never go back to Lexus again. Similarly-trimmed, optioned-out Lexus LS500 is pushing $100K!

I'm so glad that you put the Kia K900 on the car length chart
@WaleSANNI8 жыл бұрын
The V8 K900 comes with an LCD Instrument Cluster. Why didn't they just use it for the G90? IMHO, the lack of 4-zone climate control matter. There are 4 vents for the rear; They'll suffice. I also don't mind the limited adjustability of the front passenger seat. It's the driver that truly needs extra adjustability. (I'm 5ft 10")The features I miss are massage and night-vision camera. But for the price & everything else it comes with as standard (especially nappa leather) , I can't complain. There's a Russian video on KZbin that shows the G80 parking itself (parallel & perpendicular). I think it's just not available for the US market; I wonder why though. The hardware is already there. And if the G80 can do it, I see no reason why the G90/EQ900 won't be able to do it. Great car!!! The Lexus LS stopped being the sensible choice in 2013. It crossed over to the dark side by abandoning the touchscreen-based infotainment system in favour of the infernal remote touch system. Though an all new LS is a few days away. What's the fate/future of the Kia K900?

I have a Lexus LS600h L and it is such a nice ride. Overall the reliability is still good over other luxury brands. However Lexus Corp (not dealers as that varies) has slipped quite a bit. Probably due to budget constraints of the economy. Hopefully with the stock market picking up they will go back to the high level of customer service they had in the past. Great review Alex. Hyundai has done a great job with the G90 it looks like. The only thing is, when comparing it to the competition, I don't usually hear the Volvo S 90 mentioned. I usually see the S90 compared to the G80 if it's mentioned at all. I realize the S90 is closer to the G80 in terms of size, but nevertheless I think it's worthwhile to compare it to the G90 as well. As long as you're willing to give up some horsepower and torque, and some rear seat legroom, it seems to me the S90 would be the better value, even at the Inscription trim. And that S90 interior tho! But this does seem like a good effort on Hyundai's part.

I can't wait for you to do a full review on the new ls 500 when it comes out end of the year, that car is going to be the new benchmark in the segment excluding Uber luxury cars like Rolls Royce. Can u imagine the new ls has a twin turbo v6 same as this 2017 g90 tested here and it produces more than 100 more pound foot of torque and about 50 more than the v8 version of G90. It also beats the 5 second 0-60 time of the v8 model G90. That LS 500 does 0-60 in 4.5 seconds even beating the s 550 4.8 sec time and that uses a v8 twin turbo. The bmw 7 series uses a twin turbo v8 as well and only beats the lexus with a 4.3 second 0-60 time. Lexus has achieved something great and amazing with the v6 twin turbo engine in the new Ls with first class world first tech as well.

@AlexOnAutos Genesis has kept up the hallmark tradition of value/ $. The issue for them is what preceeds it in the Equus: What "specialties" does the G90 bring to this hyper competitive field? The CT6 offers perhaps the best dynamics, MRC, 4 wheel steer, and standard AWD with V6 models. The LS has Lexus' vaunted reliability and historically loyal fanbase. BMW has buyers that still associate the brand with driving precision, but nonetheless the 7er offers loads of tech and power. The A8 is speedy, well finished, tech-laden, and has the luxury of having Quattro for AWD. Then there is the S-Class, which speaks for itself. The G90 has loads of standard features, but I'm certain that you know it takes far more than that to crack it in this class, or else the Equus and K900 would've moved more than 2-300 units/month, as is the G90 currently. I like the car and would even take the V6 over the V8 IF Genesis would've included the LED headlamps and power rear seats as optional on the V6. But even the small premium to pay for the V8 is a great selling tool. But it falls really short of the blown Germans considerably and is thirstier. I think the 404hp Caddy CT6 3.0T is just as speedy as a V8 G90. Not good. But to the buyer that doesn't care about ultra-tech, nameplate, prestige, or even buying your car in the same place a college kid is getting their Accent, it could be a good bet.
@AAutoBuyersGuide8 жыл бұрын
If you look at Equus sales + G90 sales (the G90 is production constrained) you would discover that the Equus/G90 sold 782+1361. This isn't a huge number, but for a car that was production constrained and a new entry it's not half bad either and 2015's full production year sales were not far off the Jaguar XJ. The real sales winner is the Genesis G80/Genesis 6,166+23,230 means it outsold the GS, A6 and CTS nearly 2:1, the Q70 by 3:1, XF by 6:1. We'll see what 2017 brings the G90 when production catches up to demand. I don't expect it to be a run-away success, but I would not be surprised with XJ/A8 like sales numbers.

Not everyone is looking for "dynamics" in a luxury vehicle. I am SICK AND TIRED of manufacturers shoving this aspect of the vehicle in everyone's face. Many of us want our *LUXURY* vehicle to be *luxurious* FIRST AND FOREMOST. That is what the G90 offers.*HYPER-QUIET ENGINE/EXHAUST*, magic carpet ride (in the comfort mode) and super-light teflon-like steering. (I'm talking of the 5.0L V8, of course - I would NEVER consider the V6, because choosing the V8 is simply a no-brainer)

The car length scale is really off for a lot of models, such as current 5 series (193.1 in) relative to current E class (193.8 in) to A6 (194.2 in). I recommend going through the models and recreating the scale to be more accurate, the current representation is inaccurate of the actual car lengths relative to each other.

@AlexOnAutos I think the biggest issue Genesis has going for it is the fact that you have to go to a Hyundai dealer. I would rather go to a Toyota or VW dealer than Hyundai. The other is reliability. The 3.3T engine has been having major mechanical issues. A couple Hyundai Service Techs told me of the horror stories and say the engine lasts about 10k miles before major issues arise.
@ronaldderooij17748 жыл бұрын
I am surprised to hear that. In Europe Hyundai has a good reputation on reliability and durability. However, we do not have the bigger engines here because of climate change taxes.
