Die hard Toyota fan. They're solid and hold great value. But Hondas design is pretty nice and those led headlights are so luxurious looking on the road. Also the honda has cool rear turn signals. Very Volvo like

We have a 2017 CR-V Touring, which we chose over the RAV4 because of the styling (exterior+interior), the tech, the ride, the space, and the near-luxury feel (fit and finish). Re: the fake wood, I can tell you that it meshes well with the black interior. It doesn't seem like an imitation, more like an artistic interpretation of wood, rather than a simulation. Does that make sense? Anyhoo, we love it. No regerts. ;) Great comparison btw.

I very much prefer the dials&buttons control for A/C to the touch screen operated one which is becoming increasingly popular in many of the latest models. It's far safer and more user-friendly.

We updated to a 2017 Rav4 Limited Four wheel drive from the 2010 model Rav4 Limited, It is a must for us as we live in northern state. We love the included TSS. It took a bit to get used to. The lane deviation alert is a bit more sensitive then expected. The radar controlled cruise control is a delight it makes highway driving very relaxing faithfully maintaining distance between you and the car ahead, braking and accelerating as needed. There are a few annoyances like the Nav controls but nothing is perfect. Overall love the vehicle.

Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with both vehicles~~ Both are great picks and some of the most well-known and popular in their class. I've owned this generation RAV4 for 4 years, and I can say that it is a great vehicle, very simple and easy to drive and use, and overall great vehicle. Toyotas are like tanks, so maintenance is not going to be an issue. But again, both the CR-V and the RAV4 are probably some of the best choices when it comes to this class of vehicle.

I just purchased a 2018 Toyota RAV4 Adventure all-wheel drive. It's the best RAV4 ever made, it was a cherry on top for the 2016 through 2018 models 2019 is going to a new trim it will come with lots of mistakes. The 2018 Toyota RAV4 Adventure all-wheel drive has been the best vehicle I've ever had and has never let me down

@@RR-ev3po yep, at the same time Honda vehicles with the dilution problems are BANNED to be sold in China. Chinese Gov't believes that the design flaw is deeper than just a "software" reprogramming fix. Basically, those who purchase the NEW, Not tried and tested Honda engine, are basically guinea pigs. whereas buying a tried and true Toyota engine known to last decades, you become a more secured buyer.

@@christianuy5791 This is very true, I bought a 2017 CRV with that shitty CVT and I had nothing but issues, would just stall out on me doing 75 to 80 mph down the interstate, and I bought it new, and I'll be dammed if right at 26 k that shitty CVT went kaput it was fixed under warranty, but as soon as I got it fixed i traded that pos in for a 2019 RAV-4 the last model year to offer the 6 speed auto and I am so satisfied. I've been a loyal Honda owner since I bought my new Civic in 2005, and my first car ever was an 89 Prelude Si. Never again will ever buy another Honda, they are going the way of Nissan with that shitty CVT tranny.

You could be right but I'd also argue that there would be so many parts for the CRV given how many of them are on the road that it'd be pretty cheap to find just about any of that if you're willing to look.

Yeah, let's demand clunky, unreliable, polluting, inefficient crap. Screw progress!
@doctorferdinand1003
@doctorferdinand1003 7 жыл бұрын
You're an idiot if you think progress necessitates blandness. 90s cars were far less polluting, far more reliable and far more efficient than 70s cars and they were a lot more fun and the car market was more diverse. Today, people consume cars as an appliance and are willing to accept poorly made, uninspired, unexciting crap. The issue isn't progress, the issue is an apathetic consumer. Also, in many ways these cars aren't progressing technology. Engine head design on many cars is becoming less advanced now than it was 10-15 years ago because companies don't want to spend the money on R&D when a cheap, old solution is available with turbo chargers. Cars from the 90s were far better made and more reliable than the beta test in progress junk you're buying today.
@Jsreviews88

@@doctorferdinand1003 "90s cars where more diverse." ...Yes. That's why the market was flooded with rebadged versions of Mercury, Plymouth, Eagle, Oldsmobile, Pontiac and Saturn vehicles. Real original.

The Honda CR-V is the better choice hands down. It looks better... However due to the changes Toyota made to the 2018 Camry & how the 2019 Avalon is going to look, I can see Toyota stepping up the Rav4 for 2019 & shitting on the competition... The Honda’s turbo and CVT are question marks for me as far as reliability and future maintenance cost is concerned. Plus I’m not a big fan of the CRV’s touchscreen on the EX and up. Otherwise the CRV’s features are better than the RAV4.
Жыл бұрын
The new engine does away with the old timing belt which requires an expensive preventive maintenance job. The new engine uses a chain, which lasts as much as the engine will, with no replacement required. Definitely a move in the right direction, plus the turbo is dialed in to provide for better fuel consumption as you will see when you compare it to the RAV4.

Informative and comprehensive review. I went with the CR-V and love it. While you can't really go wrong on either car, the tech on the CR-V and more modern styling is well worth the difference in price, if there is any. I have the Touring, since I like the all-LED and rain-sensing features and Touring styling. While the seats in the RAV4 may be comfortable for some, I find the snugness of the wrap around design to be a problem. The seats, ride and power of the CR-V are great. Nice job on the review!

Tried the Rav4 and the CRV, one after the other, the CRV was very noisy, sound levels on the highway were also much higher, before the test drives I expected the CRV to win hands down (honda owner) but was pleasently surprised with the comfort level in the RAV4, The RAV4 base model was also better equiped (no android auto or Apple car play though) but this is not a deal breaker for me, I prefer the comfort level to actual acceleration, and the Honda the motor sound was anoying and rear passenger on the highway could not hear me talk, badly insulated cabin, sorry Honda, you may get great mpg and power but in my humble opinion you lost this customer, before you buy take it for a test drive and compare.

Probably not the fairest comparison given the 2017 CR-V is a new model and the RAV4 is essentially a 4 year old platform. I reviewed the CR-V last week and I have to say there really wasn't anything much to criticize. My review car was the top of the line VTi-LX (at least in Australia) and it was loaded with an extraordinary number of active safety systems, which for the target "family" market safety is a major selling point. I believe that there is a tech upgrade scheduled for the RAV4 later this year which no doubt will add several active safety features to bring the Toyota closer to the Honda.

I bought my 2017 RAV4 Hybrid new. Road noise has not improved much from the '09 limited I first had. Maintenance has been of no concern with either car. The Hybrid does offer a little better get up. I hope my nephew likes it when I'm gone. Last car I will own barring accident.

@@Corvette1658 you've never driven the one with the six then did you? There's no contest. The six was fast and roared all the way. The 4 banger hit 0-60 in over 8 seconds while the six was touch over six seconds. It put the power down.

Jimmy James yeah my mom test drove a 2019 Toyota RAV4 XLE Premium back in December. But she did not liked at. So she is looking at other SUVS including a 2019 Honda CR-V EX-L AWD.

I don't care about the design. Rav4 is good or toyota in general. Toyota make very safe vehicles making TSS standard on ALL vehicles even the base models while Honda with their Honda sensing optional on their vehicles costs $1000 more. I'll go with Toyota in a heart beat. Honda or even other brands needs to learn from Toyota.

Great review. Although the rav4 is due for an overhaul. Tough to compare. Better would be to compare them when rav gets the new 200hp n 8speed combo.

It's not really fair to the Toyota since it's on an old ass platform and engine while Honda updated everything on the crv. There is a reason CR-V is best in class at the moment.

One thing I don't understand is the CR-V has a pano roof available in the Canadian version. Wonder why they didn't bring it to the USA?

I am not sure but this review seems biased. Lol. I know that both are great. At this time the RAV4 is the best selling vehicle in the US (not truck F-150 is still 1). Honda is like number 3 or 4 after RAV4 and rogue. Google it. :). Gag! Turbo lag is awful! I am not onboard with CVTS on any car much less a heavier suv

First of all I think those paddle shifters are useless. I wish my car never came with them. I just don't get why all these new vehicles have them. What a waste of time.
