Totally disagree, just because you don't use the features doesn't mean the competitor has more features. Yes the tucson is cheaper but the quality of the crv is incredible. The tucson feels cheap and wears quickly. The crv has wifi connectivty for web browsing, full led lights, adaptive cruise, lane keep assist, lane watch camera, a 3 mode reverse camera which wasn't mentioned, memory seats, and more. I'm in the car industry and actually own a tucson and totally regret my decision after driving the crv. Should have held out. Not saying the tucson is aweful it just doesn't match up for the money.

I agree that the Hyundai may look a little sharper. I like the wheels better and the overall shape of the vehicle better, but that is about where it ends. There is not a chance that you can compare the quality of a Honda product to a Hyundai one. Looks are SUBJECTIVE but QUALITY isn't. Hyundai has definitely made very good strides to make better looking and better driving vehicles in recent years but that doesn't change the outcome: the car will most likely not outlast the financing period. That is not just MY opinion, it is the market that dictates resale value and that value is based on life expectancy of the car and cost of maintenance as well as a myriad of other factors. Maybe the next review should be the "5 year road test comparison" or maybe even the "Resale Value" comparison. Hey maybe the "250,000 km" review! Oh wait, I already know why those things aren't mentioned. ;)

In most comparisons between the Tuscon and CX-5 the Mazda wins and practically every major auto mag puts the CR-V as the winner over the Mazda (and everything else in this segment), so it seems really subjective to choose the less spacious and efficient CUV here. Let's be honest, this segment is the hottest selling primarily as a family hauler, where space, efficiency, and known long-term reliability and resale are kinda important factors.
@DavidSiebert7 жыл бұрын
Can not haul as much and uses more gas and it wins. Some people do like and use adaptive cruise control and the lane keeping so the better-equipped part is also very iffy. The Hyundai is a good cross-over but as an SUV the CRV does seem like it the winner.

I will restate what I replied to a comment below in regards to the frequent reliability argument that I am seeing. I currently own 3 Hyundais. A 2002 Santa Fe with 157,000 miles, a 2011 Sonata with over 200,000 miles, and a 2015 Santa Fe Sport with 40,000 miles. All 3 were bought new by myself or my immediate household family and serve as daily drivers for those that use them. I have not needed to use the warranty once in the 15 years that I have owned them. Not a single problem with any of them. Works for me. EVERY car brand produces cars with problems that break for some people, Honda included. Others may have had problems with their Hyundais even though I haven't with the 3 of mine. Some people have had perfect Honda's, and some have not. The same applies to EVERY manufacturer out there.

Being subjective I think the CRV looks better, makes more sense fiscally in terms of MPG and resale and comes with far superior safety appointments. The Touring LED headlights, standard rear LED's with turn signals and class leading overlap crash test ratings make it the winner here. We just got a Tucson 2.0 L Luxury brand new 2017 for 5750.00 off. I didn't want a CVT transmission and no we didn't get the Turbo but, we got another two thousand off on top of the April deal on all the 2017. It's brand new and has a TON of features including leather seats, infinity speaker system, rear heated seats. You name it this thing has it. For the money I saved not getting the Honda with CVT, I'm sure we'll be happy with this. BTW, I don't think those CVT transmissions on the Honda will get the longevity of the older transmissions. AND if something goes wrong with that CVT it's 4 to 9 thousand to replace it! Hyundai really did a good job with this and I was origninally completely set on a Honda.

As a former Toyota owner, fuel economy does not really matter, I learned. At the end of the day, fuel economy is proportional to the weigh of the vehicle. The effects on fuel economy by minor differences in power train diminishes as a vehicle gets older. My Toyota had a horrible fuel economy once odometer reading went up. I think CVT is over rated when it comes to real world fuel economy.

There's a reason why the CR-V has been the benchmark in the compact SUV segment: it's a well-made, reliable vehicle. If all you're going to look at to decide which vehicle to buy is which one gives you more features for the price, then of course you should pick the Hyundai. But in my opinion, the best value overall isn't the one that gives you more features, but the one that's going to hold up the best over the long run, and cost you less money in repairs. Like most things in life, you get what you pay for. If you want a quality product, you usually pay more for it. I've owned a Hyundai (2012 Sonata GLS) and had 2 Hondas (1986 Accord LXi hatchback and 1996 Accord sedan). My Hyundai had 4 recalls in the 4 years that I owned it, with just 50,000 miles or so on the odometer. Another recall came in the mail after I sold it. My Hondas gave me zero problems aside from normal maintenance issues running them as many as 189,000 miles before selling them. I bought another Honda last August.

Someone tell me what in the actual F did i just watch? 😂😂😂 i mean this review wouldn't have been this biased even if hyundai payed Autoguide. The more efficient, more spacious, probably more reliable and definitely the one with the better resale value lost to the hyundai? The hyundai is a few hundred dollars cheaper but it's almost a subcompact SUV compared to the CR-V. What is wrong with this reviewer and Autoguide literally.
@OsojiNosferatu697 жыл бұрын
acuras4ever Honda reliability means nothing in this day and age. Twenty years ago, if you compared a honda to a hyundai, the honda would blow it out of the water. However, with Hyundai quality skyrocketing and Honda quality lowering, the bias starts to make more sense. While I can’t deny that the CRV has better fuel efficiency and space, I also can’t deny that it looks... blah. There is a large market of CSUV buyers who prefer a sporty, fun ride with acceptable cargo space and acceptable fuel economy over a boring, uninteresting ride with admittedly more space and more mpg. While yes, resale is a thing, it doesn’t matter to everyone since some people prefer to keep their vehicle quite a long time; I myself do it. By no means am I meaning to attack you or your opinion, I just think that the comparison isn’t as night and day as most would believe. Everyone is still set in thinking that Honda is #1 in reliability, because that’s the way they were a decade or two ago. But with competitors getting stronger and stronger (Namely the Korean automakers) it’s hard to blindly ignore the competition Honda and Toyota face. Except American cars. Everyone can and should turn away from them when car buying unless you want something specific like a ZL1. Lol.

Wayne why do you keep asking this? If you’re looking for someone to say, “Better than Honda” or “100k mile Powertrain” then consider this it. But that’s because Hyundai knows that if they don’t offer it, their cars won’t sell. If you have to offer someone 10 years worth of repairs for them to buy your car, chances are your car isn’t ganna be the greatest.

Tucson wins by far; longer warranty, regular automatic instead of a horrible CVT, and looks SOOOO much better inside and out
@ashrick7187 жыл бұрын
azera55555 the inside looks terribly plain
@Fadic47 жыл бұрын
azera55555 you do know a DCT is far from a regular automatic. Way more complicated and more prone to failure.
@azera555557 жыл бұрын
Yes but quicker shifts, and better fuel economy. Way better than a CVT. I don't know about Honda CVT's but I've heard many Nissan CVT's being prone to failure as well.
@Fadic47 жыл бұрын
azera55555 but with the cars are talking about. The CR-V is wayyyy better in fuel economy and it's also quicker as well and a ton smoother.

Quick up shifts but way slower downshifts when trying to pass people and when driving slow it feels like someone who has never driven a manual before, trust me most DCT are crap, just talk to any Ford Focus and Fiesta owner with a PowerShift DCT they will all tell you the same thing that they are crap. I would take a good CVT over a DCT any day.

I wouldn't spend my hard earned dollars on a Hyundai.

Hyundai is the most reliable car.

Test drove the Tucson and it felt so CHEAP! The plastic quality is horrid and it doesn't accelerate well. Not up to Honda standards. WHAT!?! There is NO way the Tucson won like I test drove both back to back and it just did not compare- the Tucson doesn't even offer the advanced safety systems in lower trims. Guess we just have different priorities Jodi.

You must work for hyundai to say you would prefer it!You didnt mention build quality, resale and reliabilty of the honda.You could even see in the video the difference in build quality.The honda wins it for me and i dont own one either!

I have a crv 2017 and i compare it to my friends tucson 2017. CRV is stylish and aggressive look in the outside and inside in comparison to tucson. CRV has much more premium look in the inside than the tucson. Tucson is a cheaper look inside. So for me crv is the best and unbeatable in its class.
@bobfish31767 жыл бұрын
Just ignore all the safety features of crv since the hundai doesnt have it lol

Except you know they both scored the same IIHS

Seems not good to compare a 7 seater SUV CRV to a 5 seater Hyundai Tucson. Anyway, Im planning to purchase Hyundai Tucson 2018 version, probab. next year and I have a problem deciding which transmission is better manual or automatic for a Tucson? And which color is best for me?.. Black is just too much aggressive and bold.

Jodi Lai is horrible at these reviews. Too biased. Thumbs down - autoguide unsubbed

I feel as if this was a tiny bit biased but I suggest who ever wants to buy these to actually go test drive them. Because this bimbo looked like she was really didn't know what she was talking about and simply reading something that was given to her. For example. She goes the Hyundai has a better back up camera. Yet the CR-V has a 3 way multi view backup camera...

There was no mention of the warranty. The warranty on the Hyundai is 10 years or 100,000 miles. This is a fantastic warranty. This is worth a lot of money this warranty. Yet no mention was made of it. Imagine if your drivetrain breaks down on the Honda after 6 years of owning it. You just might get a bill of $3,000 4000 to repair it

How about new hondas awd that is actualy good, compared to hyundais that cant do proper diagonal test

It was obvious that this korean lady was gonna pick the tucson. She speaks about the CRV like if she hated it.

i don't think you are neutral enough to do car review though. better get a job at Hyundai since u like it so.

Bit of a bias review. Drove both Tucson 2017 and CRV both 2018 and 17. Love to hate Honda CVT but really hard too, its really good. Looks of the car is subjective. Performance is on par with other competitors with bigger engine (1.5 turbo vtec though AUS/NZ models). Economic but have the power when needed. I think what impressed me the most is the practicality/flexibility of Honda. Value for money is second (based on extra stuff you get - sunroof, 6 usb chargers, 6-8 cupholders). And lastly, like the interior better of the CRV, thoughtful and well designed. Will rate the new CRV 7.6 and Tucson 7.2 - and CX-5 7.8 :p
