Great tip about the red solo cup! I never thought of that. I use tin foil to make a “funnel” to direct the oil away from the car. That works well also. Def going to try the cup idea next oil change.

Nice video brotha. I just changed my rear diff and transmission/front diff oil on my '19 wrx. I used the same Motel gear oil and there is a noticeable difference. Not sure if you ever have changed gear oil before but IT STINKS! It is a messy job and you can smell it days later. I recommend doing it outside. Keep up the great content.

Great video! I agree with everything but the fumoto drain valve sounds like it was either a defective unit or user error. I've ran mine for 20k+ miles zero issues! Id still give it a try just get a new one and try it again no worries if not I won't be offended lol! I was skeptical about these till I saw thousands on thousands of reviews of people running these for 5-10+ years no issues and I gotta say I agree I love mine and will continue to run it! Thanks for the cup filter trick I've never heard that before! Going to use this trick moving forward! Cheers 🥂 great video!

I have done alot of research on oil filters.. there are alot of good & bad filters out there, my god... sorry for the language. I have found that in the price range of good filters, Napa's gold or platinum filters are a great choice. Look at a review of this filter on youtube, its quality made... And yes! If possible fill your filter with oil before installation.

Man, I hate it that you’re turned away from the drain valve I’ve ran those valves on 4 different cars over the last 5 or so years and never had a issue including my 16 sti for probably the last 4. It seems like it was installation error. I’ve never put a socket on the part that broke off. I’ve always just snugged them on with a adjustable wrench on the square part. I believe it’s brass so that’s why it broke so easily since it’s a soft metal not so much the quality of the part. I’d definitely give it a second chance and do it that way because it definitely makes changes a lot easier. Enjoying the vids tho!
@Scoobyfreak86
@Scoobyfreak86 3 жыл бұрын
I didn’t even get a chance to wrench it on from the body. This was simply tightening it by hand and snug it up with 5lbs of force with a wrench. I know plenty of people run them without issues, but for me, if I don’t feel comfortable with something off the bat, I won’t use it. First impressions are important to me and this just didn’t make the cut. Feel much more comfortable with an OEM style plug.

@Scoobyfreak86
@Scoobyfreak86 2 жыл бұрын
Cold is best since when the motor runs, much of the oil is sitting in the block. When it has a chance to sit, it goes back into the pan which will result in a much more accurate reading. What you are confusing it with is when you go to change the oil, it’s better to warm the motor up a bit so it drains cleaner and faster.

If you are worried about warranty, stick with OEM Subaru oil. If you want better oil in the motor check out this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/g2TdmJWJoM5nrLM

I doing the same thing in about a week my question for you is, the Mazda filter is bigger than the blue oem Subaru filter how much oil did you use? Because I know the fluid specs is 4.5 quarts but since the filter is bigger Would it be ok to to use all 5 quarts to compensate for the larger filter?
@Scoobyfreak86

It’s bigger, but not a half quart bigger. I used 4.5qts.

@@Scoobyfreak86the mechanic did me last oil change. I had to same exact fluids and Mazda filter but he had poured the entire 5 liters. He said it wouldn’t effect that much and sees it a lot on Audis a VWs he works on swapping to bigger filters for that extra oil capacity. So that’s why I asked you how many quarts did you put just to cross reference since I couldn’t really find an answer on the net
