@@TeaDB For sure, it was just a fun surprise/reminder for me that I never got to try this one. Though I would say for me the YS blue snake brick is the tea that I personally wished I had a stockpile of. Originally, I wasn't a fan of ripe, back 6-7 years ago, but the blue snake brick was the one that made me go "I get it now". It's always fun watching you review these YS teas!

Not much of a shu head here but of all the xy YS (and xyz other) shu pus I've tried over the years this one definitely sticks out for me as well, like the Green Miracle before it; hats off to Scott. Unfortunately I only have one entire cake left of this (plus three Green Miracles) and even though they're perfectly drinkeable right now I look forward to letting them age for a couple years more towards a different sort of funk.

This was the first cake I ever bought. I loved the bitter chocolate dryness and fruit notes. I loved it so much that I saved a corner of it! Like you I pulled it out within the last couple of years excited to revisit it, but found that it had mellowed out substantially and tasted much the way you are describing here. I was quite disappointed! I saved it cause I liked how it tasted, and it didn't taste that way after years. Duh! Lesson learned. If you like it, drink it now.

Lazy plastic bin no boveda or anything storage in Tennessee. Humidity in the bin stays in the 55 range for the most part.

I have a 2008 dry aged ripe. it definitely has a signature smokey aged flavor that i love. hard to know if aging has changed anything since I can't taste it fresh
