2018 Dodge Charger Squealing/Whining Issues (Bad Water Pump?) ONLY 26000 MILES!

A few days ago while driving I started to hear a weird noise coming from under the hood. I was having trouble pin pointing where the noise was coming from, sound like it could of been the pulley alternator or anything up front really. Luckily 100% under warranty after taking it to the dealership to get dealt with they confirmed it was the water pump going bad. Quick little video but may help somebody else in the same situation wondering what the noise is if you ever hear it!

Just happened to me today. Luckily I was down the street from a dodge dealership. Opened the hood and coolant was everywhere. They are going to replace water pump. Pulley was wobbly as hell. 2018 Scat with 25k miles on it.

Hey thanks or your video. I have a charger Scat pack and a BMW M2 Competition at the top of my daily driver list. I have test driven 25 to 30 sports cars and these seem to keep me excited when driving them. I heard the charger is notorious with issues, and wheel bearing I am assuming to the large wheels making it very difficult on the bearings. Can you speak to me about the issues you have had and is it true about the wheel bearing issue needing to be replaced every 25K miles? Should I go with the M2. The sound of the Hemi is making my decision very tough as I continue to save.

Sucks! My 2019 Dodge Charger Daytona 392 6.4 started leaking very noticeable antifreeze on my driveway then stopped. I only have 15,000 miles. I thought it was loose hose but my mechanic checked and that orange color antifreeze was spotted around the water pump dry up and also spotted behind the throttle body. I made appointments for next week. Hopefully that shit is under warranty with the powertrainy warranty.

I have a 2016 Scatpack with 104,000 miles on it and within the last few weeks I'm hearing the same noise but only after the car warms up and only on start for a second. Could be its starting to go.

i have a 2016 charger 392 and this also barely started happening to me did you figure out what it was? i took mine to a shop today and the changed the serp belt that wasnt it the tension pulley that wasnt it water pump said was working fine so im pretty lost

I have a 2016 scat with 106k miles and I have noticed the noise when I start it up (cold start up)after few mins on idle its gone im thinking about the serpentine belt

@@manevega9212 Dealer replaced water pump twice, alternator, belt, tensioner, and all 3 idler pullies and the noise persist. No one has been able to figure it out.

I'm here because my SRT 392 with less than 50,000 miles blew the water pump. It was pouring out the bottom with the engine off. I heard something rattleing 2 days ago 06/06/20 and then today 06/08/20 it blew while idling in the drive way. Luckily, a new one is $106 at Oriellys and it comes with a lifetime warranty. I think I can replace it on my own.

@@jpscatt6973 I did... Took me a day. It honestly wasn't that hard. I have a pretty good tool set (mostly harbor freight stuff) and a small $100.00 15 gallon air compressor I got from tractor supply. I had to buy a special tool to take off the coolant input fitting. (A little 1 inch stem that you need to take off and put on the new waterpump). *Take pictures of the engine and serpentine belt before you start. No RTV or new gaskets are needed, one seal is included* Remove the serpentine belt, air filter assembly, throttle body, and intake manifold. Disconnect the fuel line, then remove the waterpump. Take the silver fitting off the old waterpump with an Allen wrench, you'll need it for the new water pump. Replace all the bytch-clyps with regular 7/8 hose clamps. Then put it all back together.

I've got a 2018 Challenger with the 392 and 26,000 miles. Mine just started making noise yesterday. Definitely the water pump. Sucks though because it's past warranty... Guess I'll play shop mechanic. Parts are not much over $100. Shop wants closer to $1,000 to do it.

My water pump went out two days before Christmas, I replaced it and it would overheat. Took it to the dealership, 5 weeks later they told me it was the radiator cap, not under warranty cost me $250, its still making that whinning noise.

It's still running around 204-219 degree water temp and 215-223 oil temp. They tried telling me that's normal.

Hahaha. Pre FCA dodges were absolute crap. All modern cars have issues as they are much much more complex than the cars of the 70s but compare a 2000's (pre FCA) dodge to 2010s and beyond and there is really no contest. The FCA ones are much better. Now it's stellantis so we'll have to see what happens

Look like you got a high output alternator with the big 3 upgrade. I would look into a half inch shorter belt. My 300 did the same thing after the big 3.

My 2012 Charger 3.6 6cyl is making the same noise and now it's almost constant. I will replace the water pump and see if that's it. Thank you for your video
