It is sad how alot people think that the BT-50 is based on the Ranger. If you know your history you will be aware that Mazda are the ones who contributed to the engineering and technology of the Ranger. Ford could not successfully engineer a small pick up truck and they also had no reach in the asian market and they used the partnership with Mazda to expand and grow their line up especially on the pick ups and small vehicles. To cut it short, Mazda needed Fords funding to grow and Ford needed Mazdas know how and great engine tech to expand into asia and africa.

The US government is extremely difficult to deal with when it comes to importing vehicles especially direct competition to locally made products. Multiply the red tape when it comes to turbo diesels, American government's far prefer gasoline. The cost to pay the government outweighs the viability of selling these there hence most Japanese manufacturers don't bother. To add to it, the government unofficially protects local manufacturers by hindering the likes of Mitsubishi, Toyota, Mazda and Nissan offering their global products there.

From what I remember, isn't this Mazda BT-50 built alongside the Isuzu D-Max pickup truck? I remember reading an article on some automobile magazine website and I think it said something about Mazda and Isuzu collaborating on these different utes. Glad to see a pickup truck that we don't get here in the United States. I hope Mazda thinks about bringing that ute to the United States, since many people that live in the US love them some good ol' pickup trucks.

why can't north America get smaller trucks like this one here we used to have the mazda B2300 -3000 and 4000 here but it was made by ford ranger back in the 80s and early 90 mazda used to make its own truck here the B2000 and B2200 but they stopped them at the 93 year and went with the ford ranger. It be nice to have a small mazda truck here again.

She missed lots of items of the script she was reading but its a ranger for all intense purpose without all the crap that's going to cost huge money to repair. Price a Ranger with the 3.2 then go to Ford. You will crap your pants. A ranger is a show pony, the BT is the worker.
@dratempest6106 жыл бұрын
Shannon K : You can have a few more bells and whistles in the ranger for sure, for around 10k more but it’s manly for those life style people driving on the black top that buy a 4x4 and most will see little of a gravel road in its life , grass paddock , rivers and the like ,all while driving around on 22” rims . But that’s a personal choice.
@sams15506 жыл бұрын
Dra Tempest I own a Ranger... use it for work... and probably been offroad more than you in the last 2 years... but you keep telling yourself you made the right choice 🤗😂
@dratempest6106 жыл бұрын
Great to see someone using there ute what they are designed for ,but 80% never see off road . Nothing wrong with the ranger mate, it's a damn good ute and so is the BT50 but being cheaper from the start , the 6-10k makes kitting it out for major 4x4ing lot easier on the wallet.
@sams15506 жыл бұрын

I have a 2019. All bells and whistles with a 3.2, Auto, 4x4. What a great workhorse. Also looking elegant but can go rugged off road. I like it a lot and will hold on for some more years. The new trucks have downsized pumped up motors. Too much bling bling and electronics. No thanks! Mine was US$ 29,500 out the door at a Mazda dealer in the PH. Same costs you double in other Countries.

For Americans wondering why you don't get these or any other in its class is your government doesn't like diesels. They push for petrol vehicles and don't favour imports well. Because of these sanctions and the heavy taxes, these would end up being quite expensive there and therefore misplaced in the market.

Our dealer here in Barbados mqi which sells them and provides after service is simply poor and expensive.
