This is a tricky one. You need to remove the emergency key and then use the key or a screwdriver to pry up the back as I've demonstrated. Seems like a design that keeps you coming back to the dealership ;)

DIY How to replace your Smart Key Fob Battery for a Audi A3, A4, A5, S4, S5, S6 or Q7 that use the remote. This uses a CR2032 replacement battery. This is helpful especially if the battery is too weak to start the car.
A DIY battery replacement for the Audi Advanced Key Fob! Just a small screwdriver and you have all the tools you need! Currently for Audi A4, A4 allroad, S4, A5, S5, TT, TT RS, Q5, SQ5, Q7 - 2017 models or later with Audi Advanced Key. The replacement battery is an CR2032.

It is extremely tricky. Even with the video or using the mechanical key or a screwdriver, it's still tricky.

Thank you for helping me with my $75,000 Audi - the instructions for a battery change in the manual are absolute garbage. Even with your very helpful directions I had to go to the dealer because the battery panel would not open. My next option was to use a hammer on my $600.00 key.

The manual says to use the key to insert into the opening at an angle without prising, but the key is so sharp and thick, which slightly damaged the release button inside and couldn't pop up the battery compartment cover.

Shine your phone flashlight in the access hole (get someone to hold the phone) so you can see where the little tab is when you insert the screwdriver.

I had some trouble doing this because the screwdriver I was using was too big. Using the key blade was also unsuccessful. My advice: use a small flathead! Popped right open when I did that.
