@Jack Bower Exactly my point.

@Jack Bower What's the point of AWD with 400 hp? Does it make you FEEL better? It sure doesn't help performance other than off the line or in the snow, neither of which concern me and it certainly degrades performance everywhere else...makes the car heavier, slower and less precise, more complicated and problematic. If your talking say 700 hp then yes you need more wheels to put it to the road...not the issue here.
@Mrbfgray
@Mrbfgray 5 жыл бұрын
@Jack Bower I own a E92 M3 with 414 hp, similar car, the LAST thing I want is a pile of extra hardware to drive the front wheels when the rear can easily take the torque above 30 mph or so and I like to be able to spin them below that speed anyway. The car is already a few hundred pounds too heavy IMO and front wheels have their work cut out for them with steering and braking alone, torque through the front only numbs and confuses feedback...I don't like it. And how about rear wheel steering that is the most fun thing about these cars? Give that up for excess complexity? Not I. One more thing--my M3 (a close cousin to this car) has carbon front fenders, aluminum hood, heavy battery way in the back, aluminum block engine, etc., to achieve a near ideal 52/48 front to rear weight distribution, add additional mass to the front degrades that balance. Not good.

@Jack Bower If you're looking for straight line performance, there are many cars that will beat either one of these for the price. Put them around the track and the M2, let alone the competition, will wipe the floor with any car Audi makes sans the R8.

From BMW's Release: BMW M engineers have also adjusted the driving dynamics of the BMW M2 Competition to take the increased performance into account. The striking CFRP high-precision strut from the BMW M3/M4 is immediately noticeable in the engine compartment. This improves front section rigidity and increases steering precision. The characteristic curves for the electromechanical power steering, the Active M Differential and the Dynamic Steering Control (DSC) system have also been adjusted.
