Awesome video! Something about a Ford dually towing in the rockies makes me smile

I live at the beginning of 70 on the east side in Baltimore. It has a couple small hills in western Maryland but nothing like out west. All three trucks can pull any grade now a days almost identical timing. They all are truly amazing compared to trucks from the 90’s. I have a video on my channel of my Ram 5500 pulling a grade on 70W leaving Frederick.

Love your video! Just subbed keep em coming. Your really working that truck hard,but you are smart enough to not drive like the TFL guys that run it flat out nonstop when they can’t hold the speed limit....those trucks aren’t there’s or they wouldn’t drive like that ...

Great video. But I'm confused. Why should you turn on both the engine and exhaust brakes? Why not just set the truck at 55 mph cruise control and let the engine increase or decrease in power on its own depending on the slopes of the highway?
@THUNDERstroke735 жыл бұрын
Most trucks use the service brakes to maintain speed when going down hill on cruise control. I don't want my brakes to get hot so I do it all manually. Unfortunately the truck's brain doesn't work like ours. Does that make sense?
@leonardoalfonso70805 жыл бұрын
@@THUNDERstroke73 I get it now. Though I think it's funny that with so much automation nowadays, smart truckers like you know when to do things manually.

It all depends what you want to do. I plan to add semi's to my company but right now am content with doing it this way. Hard question to answer because everyone's situation is different. The insurance for me was a deciding factor. Semi was nearly twice the price. And operating cost of my pick up is far less then a semi
@leonardoalfonso70805 жыл бұрын
@@THUNDERstroke73 All right thanks. Also, I hope you'll make a winter driving video. It would be very interesting to see you managing the truck on steep slopes in the middle of a snow storm.

Honestly thought the Ford had more power out of the big three. I have a dodge 3500 with aisin. When I gross 39,000 I would climb that hill at 60. Giving it about 75% throttle in 4th
@THUNDERstroke735 жыл бұрын
I never push my pedal past 55% via the EZ Link app when towing. I really don't like pushing any truck I've owned that hard. On my old 7.3's I used to tuck the floor mat up behind the pedal so you couldn't floor it
@kevinromero46825 жыл бұрын
Yeah I was a little surprised. I’m curious of how it would do giving it the max. I understand though. Your right foot controls the weight of your wallet. I like the fords quickness.
@jasonhumphrey88915 жыл бұрын
@@THUNDERstroke73 that's very good if your just using over 50% pedal...I don't floor vehicles either it's not easy on them especially when towing
@THUNDERstroke735 жыл бұрын
I've seen a 3 brands haul ass up the passes. Any modern day truck is a good choice for power. I'll find the links for the Ike Gauntlet challenge. I'd rather watch others floor someone else's truck up it haha. If I blew my engine, it would be very very bad for business. No truck is bulletproof when it comes to heat and high stress

great truck but the transmission temps get a bit high for me
@jaskanwarrandhawa65775 жыл бұрын
also great video
@THUNDERstroke735 жыл бұрын
They're not accurate. That reading is based in the valve body. While most everyone else uses fluid temps. I've checked fluid temp vs what the truck says and the difference is usually 60 degrees. I don't see why they put the sensor in the valve body and not fluid. RAM has their sensor at the front of the truck near the trans cooler
@fulllifeadventures5 жыл бұрын
ChassisBlack73 interesting, is there a way to fix that to get a accurate temp? Or just automatically minus 60? Thanks man I appreciate it.

I suppose a guy could put a gauge in. But for me I'll just run it and as long as the temps don't go off the regular pattern I won't worry about it

I absolutely love this video. Most of the videos you see towing in the Rockies are from TFL truck.While I love there videos as well,Yours are way more realistic the way they drive those trucks you can tell they don’t own them.That driving style is not sustainable long-term like you said you will kill your truck.Thank you for the video of the helicopter in the valley they give more life to the actual extent of the grades there like you said it really doesn’t do justice thru the camera
