JUST A FYI VIDEO Any day around 20F degrees and colder gives me this sound at start up on our 2019 F250 6.2 gas.... It has 2400 miles on it But has made the noise since the first time it has seen colder temps... Sounds to me like a serpentine drive accessory whether that be a pump,compressor, or Idler I am not sure...

Fan clutch 100%. Having a second one put in as I write this. Original replaced with in months of buying my 19 and my second 2 years later. It’s a obvious issue but ford won’t fix the problem.

I have a 2020 F250 6.2L with about 3,025 miles on it. Got our first cold winter morning and had a similar noise. Took it to the dealership to get it looked at, and they heard it, but said another similar truck on the lot made the same noise.
@Foxboss9
@Foxboss9 3 жыл бұрын
It's funny how they use the other trucks on the lot to explain that it's okay. LOL. We traded that in after 11,000 Miles and got a 2020 F-350 with a 7.3 Godzilla. I never understood why they couldn't figure out where that noise was coming from. We are traveling full time on the road now pulling our RV and I didn't want to run into where the 6-2 water pump or fan clutch or whatever it was failed. Even though it's under warranty I don't want to be out on the highway with that issue. I did love that 6.2 engine though

@Foxboss9 my 2017 6.2 F250 with 13k miles just started doing this. Faulty fan clutch is my guess. Remember the TFL truck guys had one come apart with this 6.2 during one of the towing tests.

Just had mine in the shop for a similar noise . They say it’s the belt that drives the oil pump! I started a new one on the lot , doing the same thing . Mine has 15000 miles on it . I’m not in your type of cold conditions though .

If you unplug the intake manifold runner control the noise will go away. There is one on each bank. The runners inside the manifold clatter. Have to replace the intake manifold assembly and they are on back order as of 4-19-22

Was this ever resolved? I had a fan clutch replaced on my 17 the first winter I had it. Noise was just like yours. Now it seems less noisy but still there. Not sure if i want to take it in again or not.

I think that the problem still exists as I can kind of hear a slight chirping noise whenever it is around 30 degrees and I first start it up. However, I am not going to take it back into the dealer until it gets cold and I can repeat the squealing, howling that I caught on this video.

@@Foxboss9 pretty much same as me then. Was just curious. Doesn't sound like they have any better fan clothes now as they did when I had mine done. There are guys with 2019s with same issue it seems. Oops saw yours is a 2019. Mine is not near as bad as it was just not as quiet as I think it should be.

Have a question to ask it's not about your new truck but congratulationsI have a 1995 Ford f250 with a 7.5 460 big block I changed the clutch fan plus a brand new radiator for some reason my dial on the truck the temperature bounces from hot to cold hot to cold what could that be I believe I burp the radiator so I'm not sure what's causing this hopefully you can help me out
@Foxboss9
@Foxboss9 5 жыл бұрын
Where to begin, well you're definitely going to have to probably do some troubleshooting on this because I can only guess. First I'm assuming that you're talkin about the temperature gauge on the dash showing the temperature rise and fall pretty quick compared to what you're used to seeing. If the gauge is actually erratically bouncing then that means that there could be something wrong with the gauge, the sending unit, or the wiring for the gauge and sending unit. I'm going to assume that you're gauge sending unit and wiring works just fine. If so, then the only way that you're temperature gauge won't fluctuate quickly between hot and cold is buy coolant being introduced on to the sensor that is hot and then the lack of coolant running over the sensor causing it to rapidly cool. If that's the case it's relatively simple, you most likely don't have enough antifreeze in your cooling system. Air pockets usually aren't an issue and these old 7.5 liters. I suppose you could have an issue with your thermostat however I am assuming that you changed that whenever you changed your radiator. Even if you didn't change it it was working before I'm assuming. And even if it was a faulty thermostat they usually just stick open so as far as the coolant causing your gauge to go up and down it wouldn't cause a fluctuation of coolant it would just be constantly flowing over the sensor. Again, there's a lot of assumptions on my part because I'm not there to witness any of that however I would assume that you don't have enough coolant in your system. Good luck

@@Foxboss9 thank you. What you said is what I meant about the gauge I have not changed the thermostat in the last probably I guess six to eight months it was brand new when I put it in there but the trucks at for quite a while it only start to fluctuate once I changed the clutch fan and put a new radiator in it I got the tip from you about the clutch fan so I bought the one that you put on your F-250 in your KZbin page I don't know what happened to the radiator blog you had look like it has been deleted or something I do say this thank you for the help.I have been told all kinds of things from different people from AutoZone to Ford itself to O'Reilly's some people want to say blown head gasket or bad water pump but for any of those things water pump would be leaking number 2. blown head gasket will cause oil and water to mix with coolant and the oil .oil looks brand new.they did tell me at O'Reilly's it could be the temperature sensor they are known to do things like that or it's best just to buy a new thermostat.just letting you know it's not blowing any kind of white smoke or anything like that neither is it Knocking or clicking or anything like that since you're not here to view it I can just tell you just hypothetically on your part what it might be thank you for letting me know what you think it could be I guess I should replace the thermostat and the sensor hopefully the motor doesn't blow up because this is the truck I drive around with my camper on the back of it.

Do these have a belt driven clutch fan? That’s what it sounds like to me.
@Foxboss9
@Foxboss9 5 жыл бұрын
Yes, that's what it sounds like to me also. That or the AC compressor clutch bearing. But even when the vehicle climate controls are cycled with the AC on AC off defroster on defroster off the noise doesn't change based on that. The other thing is it seems to be a little bit louder when you're standing in front of the vehicle on the passenger side however that just could be blockage and sound reflection off of different components. I have an appointment with Ford. Dropping it off tonight. Although it will be two degrees warmer tomorrow when they have a chance to look at it it will still be -5 degrees Fahrenheit so I'm sure they'll still hear it. I always thought the engine seemed noisier underneath the hood even when warm I just contributed that to the engines design and never really thought much about the potential of it being a belt-driven accessory problem.

@@undercover3498 dealer dropped the ball... I clearly explained the noise that the truck was making and that it only does it for about the first 6 minutes after startup in less than 20 degree temperatures. I also told him that it was a squealing noise almost a howl at some points. Yet he kept on referring to the problem as a rattle noise. I also told him that I had a KZbin video that the mechanic could look at to hear exactly what's going on. And I also told him that when the mechanic looks at the truck it needs to have been sitting overnight because it needs to be an extremely cold start. Well, I ran my GPS 100% of the time when I dropped the truck off and my GPS has a built-in dash cam with sound. The mechanic immediately got into the truck after I dropped it off and was basically saying to himself or maybe he had somebody on the phone that of course the truck is going to make noise when it's really cold out especially since it only had two thousand miles on it and the first oil change hasn't even been done. Well, needless to say, I'm pretty upset about the whole situation because now the temperature has gotten much warmer and for that issue to be duplicated I have to wait until it gets cold again and go back to the dealer and explain in Greater detail what exactly is happening. Because what I can gather from the mechanics reaction to checking out the truck is that his work order must have said something about rattles on Startup. The other thing which I found odd was that they drove the truck like 30 miles over two days just for diagnosing and trying to get the truck to make some kind of noise. Yet I did not say anything at all about a drivability issue or that the noise became more apparent after it had been driven so many miles I said actually the exact opposite. Ugh! I hate the fact that I'm a mechanic and I'm going to have to pretty much explained to them what they need to be looking for!

@@Foxboss9 That sucks. I never look forward to dealing with the dealership. I've had good luck with my dealer. Like I said, my truck had the exact same issue and noise. The dealer replaced the fan clutch. It hasn't been real cold here lately but one morning it was cold enough that it should have made the noise and it didn't. Tomorrow morning will be in the 20's and I will check it then and find out for sure. My truck would make the noise anytime it was below about 40 degrees. If I were you I would talk to the service manager. The gps and camera is a good idea....I wouldn't let them know your watching! I saw in your recent video that they thought it was an idler pulley. I would push them to replace the fan clutch instead. Good luck.

Update: The new fan clutch has fixed the noise. Started it two mornings with temp in 20's and 16 degrees and it did not make the noise. We'll see how long it lasts. I think this is a common problem that gets ignored. Some people probably ignore it because it goes away on e warmed up. Others probably listen to the dealership telling them that it's normal noise. That's bs.

Do you like the steering wheel on that new truck? Get yourself a well maintained 97 OBS F250 HD and mount that nice steering wheel on some "old gold iron." Just kidding you. I'm sure you'll get that new truck whipped into shape and teach us all a few things. But seriously, the way that new truck is "whistling" during warm-up, I'd take it to the Ford shop and have them rotate and re-torque all the hardware on both cranostat complexes. No seriously, when it is making that strange noise, shut it down, remove the serpentine, restart and run for a minute, just to satisfy yourself it is something related to belts and not something else.

Lol 👍 I'm pretty sure it was the fan clutch. When I first film this it was extremely cold and soon as it got warm enough it would stop making that sound. Through it all summer long then the next winter, on just the coldest days, it did the same thing but again, what's slowly cycle out of the noise as the engine warmed up. So, I went ahead and fixed the problem for good, we traded it in on a 2020 with a 7.3 gasser. I don't think I'll be hearing that noise any longer! :-)
