The Ranger Raptor should come with the 2.7 EcoBoost V6 or the 3.2 4cyl Turbocharged diesel engine that comes in the Transit 250/350 vans.

TX2200000 why when the Ecoboost will make more HP and TQ than the V6?
@TX22000006 жыл бұрын
The 4 cylinder ecoboost engine is a good engine, just not in a truck. The engine will rev excessively and wear out prematurely under a load. The turbo will wear out if you use your truck like a truck because of the heat. If they want sales, they better offer a V6 like Chevrolet, Toyota, and Nissan. I would perfer a small V8 like a 289 with a 10 speed transmission. Smooth as silk.

TX2200000 I've owned more turbocharged cars than NA cars and they've all been on higher boost than stock without having a single turbo fail. Do you honestly think Ford just slaps engines inside vehicles without any R&D or any type of testing whatsoever?

A couple thousand dollars more and you can get a full-sized pickup. I wish they made a small ranger like they used to. I don't really see the point of a midsize. They cost as much, tow less and get about the same MPG as a full-size pickup.

G. H. You should see the crew cab and diesel versions that Ford sold overseas. They quit selling the mini trucks in the U.S. supposedly Because it took sales away from the F-150.
@KevinSmith-qi5yn6 жыл бұрын
They took the compact pickups out of the US market due to how the EPA differentiates a Truck and a Car. Its also the reason why so many car makers selling in the US are jumping to CUVs. The Truck EPA dimensions have much less stringent emission requirements. The Ranger and the Colorado as a compact truck had the dimensions that would make them count as a car. In order to avoid that they slightly sized them up. They would have needed to do that or make a vehicle like the Ridgeline. It may change under Trump, but changing how the EPA calculates emissions doesn't seem to be a priority.
@cleetismcdougall54256 жыл бұрын
Kevin Smith you are talking about CAFE requirements. That's a theory but some cars and small SUV's made today are classified as light trucks as well. Sales and trends of growing vehicles caused the demise unfortunately. CAFE requirements was just another nail in the coffin.

Ram explained why mid-sizes will cost more than full-size trucks. They would need a truck that gets 35 mpg highway to make sense verse it's eco-diesel Ram 1500 which is more capable. They wouldn't be able to do it for a cheaper price. They ran into that problem with the 3rd gen Dakotas. They ran thousands more than their Ram counterparts. There are a few reasons why including sales volume.
@cleetismcdougall54256 жыл бұрын
Kevin Smith optioned out the same midsize are cheaper, just not by much. And you can find tons of base modeled stripped down full-sized pickups, midsize..... not so much. That's how it is in North America, the opposite is true pretty much everywhere else. Diesel Rangers and Tacoma's getting the equivalent of 35mpg+ are available elsewhere. Toyota is bringing back a diesel Tacoma in 2019 for North America. It averages over 30mpg city/hwy combined.
