On 99.9% of cars I don’t remove the drain bolt on the oil filter but i do on these engines,just in order to make a little less mess as you said if you don’t have the tool,great video

Maybe was good to show the possibility to unload oil from oil filter using first the smaller screw to keep it cleaner,just for people to know that option as well. Thanks for the video

Leon, why some of those diesel fuel filters have 3 connections coming out of them? And some have only two.. I clean engine cover with WD40 too, looks nice and shiny 😉

Most oem filters are made by aftermarket companies such as mahle and mann etc

Yes mate no car manufacturer produces their own but they are stamped with their own Mark's numbers and references which makes all the difference

Hello Leon my sister has a Fiat 500 diesel and the oil level is rising after around 2-3 weeks of driving and smells a bit like diesel I suspect the car is not completing its regeneration properly she does take it on the motorway every 2 weeks at high revs to try and keep it running nicely there is only one fault on the diagnostics for glow plugs I have read that the glow plugs come on during the regen to put a load on the engine so that it injects more diesel could the glow plugs be what’s causing the regen not to work properly thanks
@thegrimreaper77774 жыл бұрын
Get it looked at IMMEDIATELY! thinning down the oil with diesel can very quickly lead to a siezed engine and lots of expensive repairs. Jaguar/Land Rover TDV6 engines have this issue and there are loads of them that have siezed with spun big end bearings.
@bodgitandleggitgarage4 жыл бұрын
Hi mate yes you are going to have to get this diagnosed very quickly there's too many issues this could be no point me telling you something and leading you down a rabbit hole but definitely get it looked at quick
@robbies63864 жыл бұрын
bodgit and leggit garage thanks for the reply I know what you mean can you give me some advice as where you would start if you had a car with the same Symptoms in your garage I’ve checked for faults and there is faults stored for the glow plugs I’m going to check them with a test light as I’m trying to avoid removing them it’s a 2008 but after that I think I’m going to try a forced regen and see where it goes from there is this the right thing to do?

Here in Oz as long as you fit parts that are to spec of the manufacturer you need not fit OE
@LG-kl3co4 жыл бұрын
Thats not quite correct. There are generic filters and the elements simply are not correct in their capability compared to the original equipment. If you get the best quality generic you are fairly safe. However, you might be blissfully unaware that fake and forged parts bearing manufacturers name and logos are becoming commonplace....the fakes industry is no longer confined to Rolex watches and Polo Tee shirts !!

leon, I do some jobs myself, but for warranty sake I have to ideally use main stealer. I bought a kia that was 2.5 years old last year with full dealer service history. in fact we were told that it had just been serviced as this dealers vehicles that are approved used get the treatment. once home, I check certain things, and discover pollen, and air filters were black, and the fuel filter canister starting to rust etc. I ordered a set of genuine filters and did the lot. 6 months later I took it in for 3rd service but for a laugh shoved the old air filter in. they did change the oil as I marked the filter housing. came back air filter the same. turns out fuel filters are 48 months 80000 miles. I agree with you, every 12 months, 24 at absolute most. so nice to see that troc owners car getting the works, but sadly like you say warranty issues will be hard work if not careful. does annoy me that when it comes to sale or trade in, they look for dealer stamps.

@bodgitandleggitgarage4 жыл бұрын
It just depends what deal is done at the garage not always you have to go back to the garage and even if you did they certainly wouldn't do a full service but I can explain the video they say that diesel filter can do 50000 miles or so ridiculous

I’ve literally never seen anyone torque up fuel filter housing bolts before - but I have come across one that was already rounded - Respect for Doing it 100% to the latter - but I’m not buying a torque wrench for the sake of 5nm lol
