@lance_r726 жыл бұрын
True but not for $70,000.. You can get a REBEL fully loaded for $10,000 less easily. Hell a RAPTOR is cheaper. The AT4 looks good on the outside but the interior is a huge let down.
@kirkenstang5 жыл бұрын
@@lance_r72 Totally agree with the interior being a let down. Just Sat in this, the Ram and a Raptor, at the Chicago Auto Show this past weekend. I am a Ford guy, but this truck looks good. Now only if it had the Rams interior, I'd be getting rid of my F150. The discounts on this and the Rebel, make it tempting.
@lance_r725 жыл бұрын
@Joe Blow I agree it looksnice on the outside and the camera system is great. Being able to access the cameras anytime is way better than the F150's only in reverse system. But I can not get past GM's antics. And FORDs fit n finish. Plus its price. If RAM puts the 426 in it it's a homerun.
@DragonKnightX125 жыл бұрын
Lance It’s not $70,000. I priced one out fully loaded including the 6.2L + 10-speed and it came out at $64,000 that plus a 8-10 grand mark down 👍🏼 Also the Raptor is definitely not cheaper the 802A package alone is just under $10,000 and brings the price up to $66k. Add in the safety tech, giant sunroof, a bedliner, and the custom Recaros you looking at $73-77k if you want the decals and bead lock wheels. Also that’s for a lariat level interior. The Rebel is basically just a Custom Big Horn with the off-road package, 33” duratracs, a 1” lift(might only be with air suspension) and 3.92 axle ratio as standard equipment.
@DragonKnightX125 жыл бұрын
Lance GM’s infotainment is better than Ford’s too it’s just as crisp and HD as Dodge’s. Plus yea the Raptor being the special model doesn’t escape from Ford’s poor fit and finish and on top of that they for some reason they put a aluminum shift fork in the custom T-Case and it commonly snaps. Ram fit and finish is good, but they still need to work on overall build quality and fixing the new info’s bugs. But the Rebel TRX is probably gonna be better than the Raptor, Dodge will have issues on cheaper models but when it come to special high performance models they are always solid. The Hellcat engine is one of the most reliable American built engines next to the LS/LT. GM’s interior might not be top notch, but their overall build quality and reliability is better. Exterior design on Chevys is questionable but I love the Sierra’s look. Antics aside unless Toyota can mange to make the next-Gen Tundra on par with the big 3 or Tesla delivers that EV super truck with decent build quality I’m sticking with GM.

Great review Andre. It would be a worthy note that the 6.2L V8 in the Sierra/Silverado requires premium fuel (which costs about a dollar more per gallon in the Philly burbs at this time/60 cents more per gallon in other parts of Pennsylvania) while the FX4 package Ford trucks only run on 87 Octane fuel. The Hemi V8 in the Rebel also requires mid-grade (89 octane) fuel for reference. That savings at the pump could easily pay for a 2" leveling kit and some aggressive 33" tires.
@blakeok9526 жыл бұрын
Gary Blatt but we don't talk about adding truck mods yourself here
@terrencejones98176 жыл бұрын
The lift in this truck is a much more than a level kit. GM has made it available as an upgrade. It cost 2k CAD to buy and install. It have new front struts, a diff drop bracket, new front CV axles. A rear block spacer and new longer travel shocks. It's not a cheap space pick system , that causes long term Suspension geometry issues.
@geoffmooregm6 жыл бұрын
Ecoboost requires premium fuel (93) in order to reach the maximum rated power. Same goes for this 6.2L from GM. Most, if not all engines these days, will adapt to lower octane fuel just fine. What really made me laugh was my old Infiniti QX56 said premium fuel recommended on the filler lid but an Armada said regular was ok. As far as anyone who tuned the engines could figure there was no change between the 2 models. So I used premuim only when I was towing.

Just a word of caution - the new 2019 Silverado-Sierra twins can NOT even be ordered or does NOT come with the “power brake and foot pedal” adjuster.... Think about such a large truck without this option....If you have short legs, you have to move up the seat close to the steering wheel, which has an airbag in it. This is normally a pretty standard option for most trucks (GM, Ram, Ford)...I own a 2017 Silverado, but some “bean counter” within GM axed this very useful feature......why?
@DragonKnightX125 жыл бұрын
People have driven these big trucks without that for years now and you can move the steering wheel back. I use to work with a super short guy couldn’t be more than 4’5” with short legs kind of a stubby build. He drove a last gen Silverado no problem.

Is this rear end the same limited slip rear, or is it an actual full lock rear, 2nd question, is it switched on by a switch in the cab, or activated when 4x4 engaged? Thanks
@dylanmacaya91665 жыл бұрын
It is an actual full locking rear differential, it is however fully automatic and never switched on and engages whether you're in 4wheel drive or not (so it does also function in2wd) when one side begins to spin excessively relative to the other the locker engages. It's a tried and true mechanical system that GM has been using for decades and I can tell you from much experience that the unit does function well, that being said, I (& many others) would still like, and (much) prefer to have a manually engaged locker that has a control on the dash that you can engage when you want to (in 2wd & all 4wd modes) like the unit available in the Fords FX4 package and Raptors, though also available as a stand alone option in 1/2, 3/4,&1 ton trucks (& also 2019 RAM Rebel & all years Power Wagon, though I believe the units in the RAMS can only be engaged in 4wd unlike the Ford which gives you the flexibility of 2wd engagement as well). Hopefully GM will get smart and offer such a system in a ZR2 package like what is available on the Colorado (which is also the other, along with Toyota TRD package Tacoma's, & Nissan Frontier & TitanXD & non XD with PRO4X package, so others actually) model(s) that have a selectable locker as well. Even if you're just doing semi-serious Off-roading on occasion, but especially if you're doing even more challenging trails often, a selectable locker is just the better way to go. So to sum it up, an auto locker is certainly better than a limited slip rear or nothing at all but you can't beat a selectable locker.

You can get this truck for $57,350 at a lot of dealerships right now for $57,350! OR you can get the GMC 1500 Denali right now for $57,948!! I want people to put this in context! The AT4 is a 5.3L V-8 4Wheel Drive. With a nice set of upgraded off road tires and wheels as well as an upgraded suspension. Spray in bed liner with that new fancy tail gate that opens a bunch of ways. All Leather Interior. A BIG back seat with the 4Door that has all the room you need. Upgraded exhaust that sounds really good. It has OnStar and all the extras you would want. This is the AT4 model for $57,350. Now you think I'm some GM lover trying to push their vehicles? NOPE! I have NEVER owned a GMC. The point to this is that I can go buy that truck RIGHT NOW!! With all those extras for $57,350. OR I could go buy a Jeep Gladiator v-6 it will haul less, tow less, ride worse, burn more gas more than likely (FCA lies a lot about mpg's) It will carry fewer people, it's warranty does not match the GMC, It is slower than the GMC, Does not sound as good as the GMC and it doesn't have nearly as many extras as the GMC and I am going to pay $65,000 for the Gladiator!!!! Loaded the MSRP is $62,000. The Gladiator is new so NOBODY is going to be selling them that cheap. They will be at least three thousand over the MSRP!! That is $65,000! First thing people will do is put bigger tires and wheels on it and get a lift kit dropping the mpg to probably around 15 mpg on the highway to the GMC 20 on the highway. Now your in about $70,000 for the Gladiator!!! OR the GMC AT4 Double Cab 4wheel drive Leather Interior decked out at $57,350!!! The GMC despite being an upgrade in every way is $12,650 CHEAPER than the GLADIATOR!!!! If you like the Gladiator go look at both trucks!! Remember you will have to pay $12,650 MORE for the Gladiator (after lift, wheels and tires) than the GMC AT4!!!!! Now, buy the Gladiator! Congratulations!!!! Your an Idiot!!!!! You can do this with whatever brand you like! Chevy, Toyota, Ford, Nissan, it doesn't matter! When you buy the Gladiator remember to bring some lotion with you so it does not hurt as bad!! Jeep charges extra if you want them to use lotion!!

It's my dream truck. I want it badly. However I HATE how the seats look in the AT4. I would LOVE to know if the leather seats could be swapped with SLT or Denali seats. I can't stand that brown mixed in with the black. I may be in the minority and it might not be a big deal to some, but if I'm paying that much for a truck, I want to LOVE the way it looks on the interior, and the seats are a deal breaker to me if they can't be swapped out. Other than that, I. Want. This. Truck. Looks wayyyy better than the SLT/Denali versions IMO.

let me get this straight, you get a cool new tailgate but because of all the new stuff there is also "nanny tech" in the tailgate that prevent you from using the bed extender that you need to use because the bed is only 5 ft long...... thanks but I will use the plan old tailgate on a useful size bed.
@dylanmacaya91665 жыл бұрын
You can drive with the gate down like in a regularly equipped truck (with or without a bed extender gate) but you can't drive with the step in the gate down unless the tailgate is up at which time that notch that functions as a step when the tailgate is down now functions as a semi pass through in the tailgate like if you're needing to haul some 2x4's(6's, 8's, etc.) and you know their going to be sticking out the back of the bed but with that "notch thru" in the gate (that functions as the step when the gate is down) that lumber can at least be riding lower and a bit more secure. It's a six way tailgate system and he should have taken a moment to demonstrate its 6 way functions as it would have taken less than a minute to do so. It's a versatile system that other magazine testers unanimously like and I have checked it out at the dealer and feel that it's a multiply beneficial tailgate system that easily bests the step only gate available on the Ford. I'm sure TFL or someone else is going to demonstrate its functionality in an upcoming video soon.

yeah you could if you want to drive around in a train, but this truck is bad to the boneeeee

Thankful that they moved the gear shifter back where it should be for a truck.

At $69k you are in Raptor pricing territory. The redeeming feature over the Raptor is its payload/towing.
@joshtavenner30736 жыл бұрын
Motomadman43 I would say the big difference is after these are on the market a bit and not hot off the line, you should be able to get 8-10k off easily like any other GM truck. Best case scenario on the Raptor is you find a level headed dealer that sells it to you at MSRP. I’ve yet to come upon any real discounted trucks. Tons of dealers adding BS 10k markets. So MSRP is close but in some instances there could really end up being a 15k+ difference in what’s actually paid.

Awesome sounding big ass V8, towing and payload makes this a better all around truck than a Raptor IMO, if you like the styling and weak interior, which I do not

Josh Tavenner I got 14k off my 2017 GMC 6.2l. Sticker was 59k, paid 45k.

And the 5.0 is still a better engine than the 6.2 if you want real power. I'd get a lariat f150 5.0 and with the money saved id whipple it and of course do the standard shocks springs wheels and tires.

I'd take the GM 6.2 over the Ford 5.0 any day! But I would (even better) take any of the 3 liter diesels now (or very soon to be) available in the half ton trucks from any of the four companies, over the gassers as diesel always trumps gas(horsepower

If only the wheel welds were circled then you can fit bigger tires like on the silverado

I plan on getting the double cab 6.2 it's cheaper and also pit the borla s type on It instead

Just because a fully decked out version lists for 70k doesn’t mean anyone is going to pay that. Knock 6-7k off the sticker - and more if you’re patient. Still too much but trucks are popular right now and the economy is good.
