Here on TheTopher, I'm known for putting a camera on my face and driving cars. N will be the performance version (275hp), out later this fall. R is the more mainstream performer. I'm glad they moved it over to a new platform. It now rides on the ElentraGT (I30) platform. Multi link independent suspension (on all models), break torque vectoring, vastly improved steering. They even used aluminium to reduce weight. Hyundai has a hit IMO.

I drove the 1.6T with the performance pack in Canada. It had the Michelin PS4S as well. It was fun. Neat car. Fun and super comfortable.

I believe this 1.6L engine is the same as the Velosters before it, or at least a variant of it. I think Hyundai just up'd the power for this engine. The 2.0L engine in the Veloster N is obviously a different engine~

As to why Hyundai didnt put the stock exhaust found on the Elantra GT sport and Elantra Sport sedan on the New veloster is beyond me. Isn’t this supposed to be the “sportier” of the 3? The stock exhaust on the Veloster is just disappointing.

I bought my 19 Veloster Turbo R-spec new and I'm having problems, I can't shift into gear after the car sits overnight but if I let it run for about 15-20 minutes it goes into gear and changes gears just fine. This is the second time this has happened and I'm thinking about trading it in for something else.

Jovan Koledin I have an elantra sport. 0-60 on level ground at sea level is 6.2 seconds. Faster than focus ST. In real world conditions, I get sub 6 accelaration. My car is just as quick, while being heavier, and with less horsepower. It has a lower top speed, which I only reached once (in Mexico), but that can be increased with a top speed limiter. They're just as fast, and this veloster is probably faster due to the lighter weight. Paper isnt everything.

How do you know? You've driven it on unsporty tires? Besides, don't forget that the Turbo R is basically just a fast soft version of the Veloster. The N is the true handing one. If it drives like the I30N (which it should do, same platform after all) it's real good handling.

then you'd be mistaken. It's not about the same material, it's about the application of the material. The Veloster uses hard touch plastics pretty much everywhere on the interior trim. Cars like the Civic and Corolla and Focus and even their own Elantra have a better spread of soft touch materials interspersed. Ask me how I know...

maximus9401 I own a 2015 veloster and I have a friend with a 2017 Elantra limited. They have very similar materials for the interior. Only real differences are the console design and the infotainment system.

The previous generation had a horrible ride/handling combo and wasn't much to write home about since it had no independent rear suspension. Also, we used to have a 2001 Hyundai Elantra and it too was a total POS. Hyundai makes nicely styled cars but as for their driveability and longevity I'm still not sold.
