I bought the turbo 4 JL. I'm coming from a V6 JK. The 4 pot is a more powerful engine and more fun to drive. Better launch and torque.

Kenneth Arafat have 20k on mines and it’s fun to drive. I’ve only had issues with the ess battery and it was covered. I ask how long they last and how much to replace and I was quoted 350 and the battery last average 3 years. I also got the sky one touch and it doesn’t leak and actually work amazing

I’ve got a 2018 Wrangler Sport S ,2door with this engine.I have put 5700 miles on since new in May.Im getting 25 mpg combined city and highway.i have needed no repairs or adjustments.Regarding the Premium gas requirement the math works out this way.If one drives 15,000 miles per year and uses premium gas at $3.50 the extra dollars equal $354.00 per year approximately.Considering the torque available and the mileage that’s pretty good.The engine is made at the Alfa Romeo Temolino plant near Milan.It is an in line 4cyl.The turbo is made by Honeywell.Change the oil at 5000 with synthetic and the engine should be very durable.Highway mileage note.I got 35 MPG on the flat ATLANTIC City Expressway At 70 mph.Generally I get 30 mpg highway.

The only people complaining are people who don't own them or maybe really enjoy their Dodge Caravan 3.8L mini-van motor. :p But I can tell from some of the replies, some people don't understand how engines, turbos and technology work together as well as they are pretending in the comment section.

I have noticed that when I use regular gas in my turbo JL usually made 23.2 average but when I use premium gas for some reason goes up to 24.8 average both between city & hwy!

Rented a Sahara 2.0L T and it ran fantastic both on and off road. 25 mpg on hwy and 22 in town. Plenty of power. I saw 0-60 times about 6.5 secs. Good review Craig.

I just traded my 18 JL sahara for a 20 Rubi with this engine and 10k miles The biggest difference has been the performance traveling. 75mph. Low rpms due to 8 spd is a breeze. I have been impressed thus far. I will not be impressed if it doesnt hold up. Im a german car man and i am aware that italian cars dont have the best history of reliability. Its just the world we live in. All cars have parts made over seas. All brands have issues

Two issues with this engine: (1) it won’t last as long as the non-turbo charged V6, and (2) it means you can’t get a manual transmission.

@@Vanguard-DaGreat4719 well i have a GOLF gte which is a hybrid with a 1.4 turbo engine. sofar so good, but my estimate is that it will last about 70 to 80% off that of the normal 1.4 turbo as it starts and stops the engine 100 of time during regular driving. this will cause extra wair and tear as the engine will do many start ups with less oil on the critical parts.

Yes, the belt-driven motor-generator should be what restarts the engine. As for the turbo, that's a good question, but modern cars usually circulate coolant and oil through their turbochargers when the engine is shut off to keep them from cooking. I wouldn't be too worried about durability.

I am confused. I am trying to find more info on the 2L engine on Jeep's website and it looks like 2.0 L turbo engine doesn't show e-torque available. Also I am not sure how are you able to get hybrid in 2019? Isn't the hybrid models are 2021 and up? From what I can see eTorque is only available on V6 options. Which country are you in? :D

More than "one reason" to think twice - premium fuel for the 2.0 is going to be a considerable cost for the lifetime of the vehicle. Not necessarily a deal breaker, but something to consider if you think you are saving money with maybe 2 extra MPG. Premium gas in my region is 60 cents more a gallon, $12 bucks more every fill.

this engine is new and there are not any data for reliability or longevity. That etorque is just a gimmick and is a glorified alternator. those mileage numbers are way off. that engine does not get better mpg. also you do not save significant numbers with the auto start stop. It has been proven that it is barley noticeable. You are reading out of the Fiat hand book and know nothing about these engines lmfao.

No I mean the shift in focus that came with the JK brought in a whole new set of people that just don't really give a shit about Jeep history or culture. People who think the wave is stupid or put a fucking sticker on their mirror so they don't have to do it. Used to go offroading all the time with friends and local Jeep clubs and we would have a blast, help out each other if shit went wrong, do other outdoor activities like kayak and hike. Now it's all the type of people who give no shit about the outdoors or offroading (seems a big trend now to completely remove the spare tire from the back). Or the type of people who throw their beer cans into the river while they are fishing. I grew up around Jeeps and a Jeep was the first vehicle I bought after leaving the military. I just kinda watched the culture crumble over the past twenty years due to a multiple of reasons.

Drove the 2.0L turbo Wrangler Sahara for 5 hrs of Highway driving during heavy cold treacherous winter conditions. I do not advise anyone to buy this vehicle if you do alot or any Highway driving. I have been wanting to purchase a Wrangler Rubicon but I fear the ride will be much the same. I believe the 3.0L is a much better choice and the Eco- diesel even better as I've been driving eco-diesel in the Grand Cherokee since 2014. I understand Jeep re designed the diesel is a great engine but you smell diesel fumes right through the cab dangerous for your health. It's that bad. Jeep had lots of work to do if they are going to continue with diesel. I have a Blu tec Mercedes diesel it's odorless and seamless doesn't sound like a tractor... This car is an absolute junk heap. I purchased a 2021 Sahara with eTorgue and had a complete electrical failure after just 16 months and less than 30k mikes. The car is dead. $6000 to replace batteries and my dealership voided the warranty because (get this) I got an oil change at a non-Jeep mechanic. Never again!!

Nice video. All the gas savings would be eaten up by having to use premium gas.
