Went from an 08 Silverado 1500 Z71 with the 5.3 to Ram 3.6 eTorque and the Ram puts up almost identical numbers to the Chevy. The v6s of today are a lot more powerful than the v6s of the past and it does everything a normal person needs it to do. Don’t let the hardcore folks fool you, the 3.6 Ram is more than enough for most peoples needs. Tow a trailer, boat, small camper, it will do the job! 1500s with 7500lb towing capacity have been the standard for years…. this one just does it with less cylinders and less fuel. Very impressed by what this V6 can do.

How have you liked it? I'm looking at purchasing a Ram 1500 Reble with the 3.6 eToruqe next year at some point. I don't feel I have the need for the Hemi, I don't have a trailer or anything, and if I were to get one, I really would only want a small teardrop or pop-up camper. Like my Jeep it would mostly be a daily driver, commuting to and from work running errands. (going on road trips and vacation) I know Reble is over kill for offroad as my main use there would be forest service roads. (But I'd rather have it be over killed then get stuck or damaged from under kill, plus I really like the way it looks in "Night Edition" package with the two-tone hydro-blue paint. and looking at EPA it is rated the same 24 mpg highway as my Trailhawk 3.2 Pentastar and 19 city one mpg more city then the 18 on the Cherokee, and comes in at the same 21 combined, but with a standard 26-gallon tank i would have much more range then the 15.8-gallon tank in the Cherokee affords.

I've always loved driving trucks and I've had several over the years (Ram, Silverado, F-150, Ridgeline etc...). I've just purchased a 2021 Ram Classic Express 4X4 with the 3.6L V6 with a 3.55 rear axle ratio. I'm not towing often, maybe 5-6 times in the summer (enclosed trailer 5'X8' & 1 motorcycle) but I also love to have a 6.5' bed to carry stuff, branches, wood, tools etc... when needed. I remember my first truck, a 1987 Chevrolet Silverado 2X4 with a 5L V8 "160 hp" which is far less than the 3.6L V6 with more than 300 hp in today's Ram. 😊

Camping right now with the basic 6 seat BigHorn v6. Towing a 5500 lb camper. Had no trouble going 67 mph or faster. I kept the speed at 64-66and engine was 3,000 rpm on the hills. I saw a solid 14 mpg. on the ride up here. Note I started at a lower elevation and ended higher. I started in south east Michigan and traveled to the Manistee area. The v6 is just fine. I felt the v8 would extract too big a penalty for the 90% of the time I am not towing. I easily see 22 mpg mixed city driving. My advise is if you need the hemi buy it. If you don't the v6 Pentastar is still a sweet heart.

Exactly the kind of info I want/like to hear. When I was buying my 2018 Ram my truck with the hemi it ended up being cheaper than the V6 I was originally there to look at and had a few other features I wanted. So I figured better to have more than I need especially if it’s cheaper. But next time I will shop harder to get a more reasonable engine for my needs. For the total life of my truck I’ve used the V8’s capacity for less than 2% of the total miles I’ve driven. I love the hemi, I can get 19 mpg in the summer on country roads and always have power in excess. 15-16 in winter. I would buy it again but want to try the V6 next time. What year is your truck/ do you have the eTorque? And if so how do you like it?

Chrysler has the weirdest way to spec out a car. Usually most automakers won’t let you spec stuff like air suspension and all the other fancy kit until you go a trim or two above. Chrysler allows you to spec it almost any way on any trim, which makes for this weird ass Frankenstein of a lower trim v6 truck with some options that aren’t even standard in higher trims. The dealers or whoever spec something like this is stupid thinking people will pay 78k(B.C. taxes included) for a v6 truck with cloth seats. This system is probably hugely expensive to manage rather than the more cost effective trim tied to options system that other manufacturers have. Trucks like this will probably sit for a while until they are heavily discounted. And people wonder why Chrysler is losing money?

A full size truck with a V6?? Hahahahahahaha
@gda8820025 жыл бұрын
Why would you pay that kind of money for a v6 full size truck? Makes no sense at all
@mikel.laughridge94805 жыл бұрын
That is not the selling price!
@nathancole98234 жыл бұрын
Yeah I would rather have a v8 for the power and for the speed because I do mostly interstate driving and I pass a lot of slow people.
@patamaran3 жыл бұрын
because it puts out over 300 hp, has good fuel economy, and not everyone wants a hemi... why are so many people hung up on the fact that their needs arent the same as other's needs?
@JayC-ej8pv3 жыл бұрын
That's because your stuck on stupid with the engine size ! It's an everyday truck driver with better fuel economy, upgraded interior, upgraded infotainment system, and still has power !
@pauljoey79772 жыл бұрын
The V6 is not for towing. Period. It has known oil filter adapter and rocker arm/lifter issues all which can total the motor easily. 68k and no big V8? Really? How stupid are people today. If you buy a truck with that much chrome then u are having an identity issue. A truck is for work. Sad.

Is that why Ram has been Motor Trends truck of the year for 2013, 2014, and 2019. You got your head stuck in the sand and are wrong.

Are you serious? I dont think so. Read the latest reviews on both trucks.
